Helpful Scriptural References - importance of Trust in God not Man

psalms 118:8 - it is better to take refuge in jehovah than to trust in humans.. the scriptures are clear that jesus is the truth - the way - the life : john 4:6 - jesus said to him: i am the way and the truth and the life.

no one comes to the father except through me.

1 timothy 2:4 - whose will is that all sorts of people should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth.

John 11:25 - Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.

the greek word here translated 'exercises faith' is more often rendered 'believes in' or 'has faith in'.

The WT and NWT like to skew thngs into being a works based religion, therefore 'exercising' suits their agenda very well, even if it's not what Jesus said or meant.

(Incidentally the same is true for John 3:16 "For God loved the world so much he gave his only begotten son in order that everyone 'exercising faith'..." In the NWT, most surrounding translations of the same greek word are 'believe', which is how other Bibles consistently render it.)

A Text Message Exchange

i have been in the fading process for over a year now.

nobody has really bothered my wife and me since we've stopped, which i am thankful for.

recently, i've had an old jw friend send me a few text messages relating to business.

While a fade is often the easiest because it's gradual and 'under the radar', it has its' own inherant difficulties, namely
1. It takes months or years
2. You are never really free from future contact and efforts to bring you back.

An alternative which deals with both of these but requires dealing with conflict at the outset, is to come out and say that you do not wish to disassociate yourself, but you will not be going to meetings any more.

You will have to argue your point that not going to meetings is not synonymous with disassociation, but there are things you can say to remove the pressure a bit, like "I want to leave a way open for me in the future, but I can't do this right now". Don't get drawn in, don't accept a visit from two elders, just insist you have done nothing wrong but want to stop the meetings for now.

There will be efforts to help you, but deal with these and you can be free in a month.

Another option combines this break with a fade.
Start by fading and at the first attempt to 'help' you, instigate the break.

1.the organization itself denies access to reality and substitutes its own version, interpretations and meanings.. a.only watchtower approved publications are allowed.. b.no higher education is to be pursued.. c.no non-jw friends or associations are encouraged with their "outside" points of view.. d.no free-style questioning of doctrine or criticism permitted.

curiousity is verboten.. e.threat of being "marked" or disassociated looms over them.

2.between every real-world event and the rank and file jw's mind is a roadblock.. a.the moment of identifying is short-circuited by an interpretive moment of re-labeling in watchtower-speak.. b.all things happening are forced into a narrow storyline and propagandized as end times happenings leading to armageddon.. 3.social and personal identity is expunged and replaced by a collective persona: "jehovah's witness".. a.private thinking is red-flagged as selfish and sinful.. b.personal improvement, welfare and ambition is crushed and door-to-door ministry substituted as "worthy" endeavors.. c.self-conscious obsession permeates witness awareness as each person is transformed into a public spectacle of performance for judgement.. d.since you aren't an individual you don't really have a right to fall in love and marry or educate or earn.

I love the way JW's use dictionaries.

Every talk has "and the dictionary definition of xyz is ..."

Then when you talk about the dictionary definition of "generation", "blood", or a million other things, the dictionary get's thrown out in favour of a twisted WT definition!!

Now swap Harold Camping for C.T. Russell, and 2011 for 1914, and you have another epic false religious prediction.

Electronic KMs Now Being Provided By Org to R&F?

i received a call from my book study conductor the other day asking for my email address so that he could start sending electronic copies of the km to me.

has anyone else received calls like this?

i've missed quite a few meeting (it's been nice) so am unaware if any letter has been read.

The OKM is now on jworg as a pdf and epub.

Only those with permissions can access these, so the new arrangement is for these to be sent to those who are entitled to them. This was confirmed by letter to all BoE's.

Many congregations don't do this yet because after having being told for years that the internet is bad, education is bad and electronic devices are Satan's snare, there are few in each congregation who have the mental ability or technical means to download and email them out.
