  Evolution and spirits

  as of now iam making an unbiased examination of evolution.

  however one thing keeps me hanging on to the belief of a supreme spirit being; the existence of spirits.

  i have heard countless accounts of people who have experienced frightening encounters with evil forces.

  Being able to read between the lines without all the evidence is a valuable skill.

  It means you do not have to have everything spelled out to you. Instead of it being a foolish thing to do, it is a trait of an incisive person in my view.

  I believe in spirits. I've experienced it

  I've been told by those who do not believe in them that I am mistaken and that what happened actually didn't happen.

  If that's the explanation that makes nonbelievers contented then so be it. We all like to believe what we believe and convince ourselves that we're right.

  my mom seems to railroad me into a debate at least once a week.. anyway long story short,.

  she says 'there is no where in the literture that the wt writers claimed that a specfic year it was going to be armageddon.. well i thought there was, and id like to print it or show it to her, i have some older books but not many.. so, is there?

  i told her that the wt claimed that 1975 was going to be the end, she said no, they said that was the beginning of the tribulation.. wow, she forgot about the most recent article ablout that already!.

  Before you show her anything ask her what difference it would make to her - what would she do differently.

  When she says it would make no difference, just tell her that she has given up thinking for herself so there's no point in showing her anything or discussing anything.

  please answer my question in the watchtower.unsigned.. among the many readers of the watchtower who write in for information are some who ask personal questions on which they want a scriptural answer, but who give no name or address.

  as far as i understand, this is the sequence of events:.

  a) june 14th 2012 - on a trial by jury, cancace conti wins a civil law case involving child sexual abuse.

  Corpus Linguistics - Text Analysis of All Watchtower Publications since 1800's

  i've been working on a side project for a while.

  the goal of the project is to create a comprehensive database of all publications throughout history.

  with this database i will be able to instantly find trends in text,sentiment of writing, methods used, and scriptures emphasized.. essentially i will be able to put a word like "apostate" into my tool, and instantly receive a report showing every time the word (or similar words) has been used in all publications since 1870.. i will also be able to create reports showing word density used in publications over time.. so i'll be able to see that the word "governing body" has increased in usage 25% year over year since 1975.. or i will be able to analyze the november 2014 wt and run an algorithm that helps to determine, what the tone and motive of the writing is.. the thing that i am most excited about is the ability to instantly find every occurence of a scripture in every publication.. this will be a great tool to find flip flops in doctrine as well as inaccuracies in biblical interpretation.. i will for sure publish all interesting findings here.. .

  objectivetruth - Here's a tip for getting more accurate search results.

  If you convert your search phrase to lowercase, then convert the text being searched to lowercase as you read it in, you will not get search results doubling up (e.g. 'the' and 'The', or 'Jehovah' and 'JEHOVAH' etc)

  This weeks #2 & #3 talk on homosexuality

  after a one year sucessful fade and no longer associated with any congreation, i was visiting my sister this week (who goes to the meeting to please her husband for now; i am slowly planting seeds though) and they decided to year this weeks midweek meeting via the telephone.

  since i was a guest in her house, i sat with them in the living room to hear the meeting.

  to my surprise (especially growing up as a gay jw with still alot of anger in my heart over how i was treated), the talks 2 and 3 where on, of course, homosexualiy.
