Where does Revelation mention New Scrolls?

What is the 'evidence' the WT refers to?

(Revelation 20:12) And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. But another scroll was opened; it is the scroll of life. And the dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls according to their deeds.

Read in context, those scrolls are already described in Rev 12 - they are the scrolls used to judge people - not new instructions at all.

Mine is to show how they are selective in their quotations, and for me personally, this was a wake-up call:

The WT showed how Jesus was thought to be put to death on a stake, and gave a picture from Justus Lipsius:

Justus book actually has 12 'cruxes' illustrated, 10 have a crossbeam and only two do not.

Justus himself thought Jesus was impaled on a cross, not a stake.

So why did the WT present the material in such as way as to make the reader beeive there was only on stauros, when really there were many?

New Chapter: Regarding mammoths freezing as they ate---huge fail. Research that. Research what they actually found---and you will also learn that the mammoth did not freeze to death, but fell into a sink hole and was covered with silt, and was preserved that way. Not through freezing. It had a broken leg. that case has been so misrepresented by bible believers, and so easy to call out, anyone should be ashamed to even use it.

I really didn't know that! I consider myself to be quite well researched, so it looks like there's another topic for me!

i am from japan and want to translate this quote, but last phrase is uncear for me.. here is the quote.. "if a man, holding a belief which he was taught in childhood or persuaded of afterwards, keeps down and pushes away any doubts which arise about it in his mind, purposely avoids the reading of books and the company of men that call in question or discuss it, and regards as impious those questions which cannot easily be asked without disturbing it -- the life of that man is one long sin against mankind.

i understand mostly, but unclear part for me is the phrase.

" the life of that man is one long sin against mankind."

This means that, because of what was said earlier (i.e. a man who refuses to question anything he is taught) that man, for his whole life, is sinning against mankind.

He is sinning against mankind in that he is not contributing to the growing knowledge, but is rather clinging to ideas which could easily turn out to be false. It infers he is not really worthy of being classed as a part of humanity whose natural instincts are to question and explore.

Question about confession and the two witness rule

i need clarification on whether a person can confess, say to fornication with an unknown worldly person, and be disfellowshipped, despite the two witness rule not being fulfilled?.

how about if a person confesses to fornication, but the other person is a brother and denies it.

can either be disfellowshipped, since there is only one witness?.

Yes, confession is enough to initiate a JC.

How it goes from there is down to the local BOE.

Shepherd the Flock 2010 says (p.38-39) "If an appointed brother confesses... Depending on the circumstances the situation may also need to be handled by a judicial committee"

P. 74 gives more info on when a JC may be appropriate.

Can you see the contradiction here?

I think you have self-worth issues. You're convinced you're evil, yet put on a show of being good.

You think the Truth is right, so help others (and I think you are genuine in that), but you cannot live up to it yourself so denounce yourself as beyond hope and resign yourself to a double life.

You already know it cannot carry on forever, but when it gets revealed things will be taken out of your control - your life will be part-determined by others and the charade will end.

Your boyhood trauma has left a broken person, and none of it was your fault.

some absolutely love the things they are taught and can't wait to spread the good news.. others in the congregation are going through the motions, tired of hearing the same old same old but have no way to change things now.

then there are a couple like me.

some absolutely love the things they are taught and can't wait to spread the good news.. others in the congregation are going through the motions, tired of hearing the same old same old but have no way to change things now.

then there are a couple like me.

Mark 10:21 - "Go, sell what things you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven, and come be my follower."

I read this in context, from many translations. All I can say is that this was a specific command to one wealthy individual, not a burdensome command to all. What was it about this man that Jesus said this to him, was money his God? I don't know.

At the same time Jesus said his load was light. To come to him for refreshment, especially if you are loaded down.

This is another reason I see a disparity between Jesus teachings and the Soc's teachings which caused me to wake up a little more. Not only are the WT doctrines difficult and harsh, noone is ever able to do enough, and the elders often heap additional local laws on the poor sheep too.

It's not always the case, some elders know what it means to be loving and kind. unfortunately these rare ones are seized upon in the congregations and soon worn out.
