Here's a solution...
Move to the UK and just so long as you are not an elder, married to an elder, the minor child of an elder, a pioneer or baptised more than 30 years then you are not worthy anyway.
as if circuit assemblies, district conventions, meetings, watchtower studies, special assembly days and bible studies weren't enough, now it's this!
aaa argh!.

the herald sun newspaper article titled "jehovahs baby rule " "a sick babyis under the guardianship of new zealand`s high court so she can receive life-saving blood transfusions.......she could develop life-threatening complications without a transfusion.. to be fair the article also states "she has been given a 90 per cent survival rate with treatment, but is likely to need a blood transfusion-which her parents will not allow as they are jehovah`s witnesses.. my observations /concerns are this : jehovah`s witnesses refuse blood transfusions.a baptised jw who takes a blood transfusion can/will be disfellowshiped for not abiding by jw`s doctrine.going against gb policy direction is causing division.. jehovah`s witnesses do not beleive in donating blood to a blood bank even if it is theirs for their own private exclusive use .. official teaching on blood by jehovah`s witnesses is, it is not to be stored, it is to be poured out on the ground.it is not to be used for any purpose.. jehovah`s witnesses will not use blood and bone in their gardens, they will not eat blood sausage, and a married couple will certainly not engage in sexual activity when the wife is menstruating.. the dilemma/inconsistencys :why is it only a conscience matter, no penaltys applied for anyone to accept every fraction of blood that is donated by other people.?
they will use blood that is donated by other people , processed in a laboratory into various fractions and injected into their own bodies , and they dont see a problem with this hypocricy ?
double standards ?.
Minor technical point smiddy but the WTS changed the position on accepting transfusions around 2000. It is not a DF offence. Someone who unrepentently accepts a blood transfusion has disassociated themselves by their actions.
Of course the result for the individual is the same - shunning.
The benefit for the WTS is that they can honestly say to the media that JWs do not throw people out of the org for having a transfusion. It also reduces the chance of a law suit. They have never openly published this change in the Organised book or the WT however. You only officially know about it if you are an elder. There were also newspaper reports on the matter from years ago.
( apologies for the large space at the top i don't quite know why .
i sat through the wt study that dealt with all the new understanding.. the conductor started by by saying .
well we wont spend too much time on what we used to believe, we will consider what we believe now.. i took a look round to see how the members of the congregation were reacting to this.. nothing.... .
The teaching on when the judging of the sheep and goats takes place has remained the same since 1995 (Oct 15 WT). The teaching is that Jesus arrives to judge the sheep and goats during the GT. So people have until that time to make a stand for Jehovah. This means that even if someone rejects the message now they still have time to change their mind.
The implication, never stated to the best of my knowledge, is that (a) some of those who think they are sheep could be judged as goats and (b) some of those who are thought of as goats are judged as sheep. Therefore the final number of those sealed as sheep or goats is not confirmed until that judgement time.
Just to be clear - the WT repeated the teaching that the GT has not started. This has been the case since around 1969. There were several teachings repeated, mainly to set the scene for the rest of the magazine and to ensure everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet. The only new changes in the article were (a) the anointed being raptured before the final battle of Armageddon and (b) the taster of the change regarding the F&DS not being appointed over the master's belonging.
Everything else is old sh/light.
Julia - the AGM is a few weeks away yet.
i was at a amusement park here in calgary today.
my jw mother and my young brother came to visit for a week,so me and my sister thought it would a nice idea to take them to do something fun.
i guess they had a part of it called hallo street and my mom was getting all sketched out from all the halloween decorations around.
Bon Jovi were demonic because it meant Good Jehovah.
every congregation i have attended this is the case.
i was wondering if this is just a local thing or if it is an unwritten rule worldwide?.
hoser.
The KM 5/07 is interesting as it not only says that the visiting speaker will usually close with prayer but it also says, in reference to the public meeting:
The chairman (or perhaps another qualified brother assigned in advance) will open the meeting with prayer
This reminded me that when I was a MS and used to serve as the chairman I once asked another brother to do the opening prayer and was hauled up afterwards in front of the PO (as he was called then) to be told that it was accepted practice for the chairman to offer the prayer. This was before 2007 but I'd love to have remembered this in the times since as I would then have asked someone else every time!
just got back from meeting.
the study today was as expected.
a combination of simple acceptance, formulaic research and mistakes.. there are clearly many who cannot read a reference (to the wt 95) regarding the sheep and the goats and consider the repetition of the the understanding of the timing of the judging as new light.

There are clearly many who cannot read a reference (to the WT 95) regarding the sheep and the goats and consider the repetition of the the understanding of the timing of the judging as new light. Comments about how we should now treat people on the ministry reflected people's complete lack of appreciation the interpretation has been around for 18 years. Even the visiting speaker in his closing prayer made mention of this. If an elder gets it so wrong then what hope have the R&F got?
There were also comments about how amazing it is going to be that the UN are going to turn on religion. We must not get swayed by the idea that religion is too big to be taken down. Funny that no one mentions that the UN would also have to completely reject a number of it's own articles on human rights. Having said that of course "god will put it into their hearts" - the get out clause that trumps any critical thinking on the matter.
No one mentioned (but why would they) that the interpretation of the timing of the GT with respect to 1914 might have changed (back in 69) but was a change on top on several changes about what 1914 signified.
Of course this week is just a taster as to the major new idea that we just love so no doubt my frustration whilst sitting there is just going to grow and grow and grow....
i started this thread as a single place for anyone who would like to add references to source material, or anything else for that matter, pertaining to the jeremiah book study.. .

here is a thread and numerous comments concerning jeremiah 13:1-11 and whether or not jeremiah traveled to the euphrates to hide a garment.. .
Thanks Ann.

So are there any more quotes that are more recent than 1972 where the society has said they are prophets?
a bit of background: she is a sweet sister who has hard a really hard life: mum killed in an accident when she was young while once-an-elder dad was off having an affair after having been released from jail after serving time as a pedophile; she spent months in hospital after the accident which killed her mother; brothers jailed as pedos, ex husband left her cold with their 6 month old son- she's had a tough life and is a really sweet lady.
she's intelligent, caring, forgiving and articulate.
far too good for jws.. she 'brought me into the truth' as they say, and as such we've always had a pretty good bond.. now, after the gossip/slander fiasco of another so-called friend running around telling everyone i'm an apostate and not to talk to me, i unfriended my jw friends from facebook with an explanation.
Hi Julia. If you really want any hope of remaining friends then you have to really tone down the anti-JW rehtoric. You have to turn off all the critical stuff about dates, hypocrisy, pedos etc. and just go back to being "tired". There are none so blind as those who won't see so don't even think you persuade them. Even quiet faders lose friends so don't expect to be able to be open with people and still keep a half decent relationship with them. You, me, them - we were all conditioned to distance ourselves and it's only us that have realised that.
Sorry to be blunt but my it's what 18 months of fading and watching others experiences has taught me.
