I'm so sorry for your situation. I and many others here know all to well your dilemma. The problem with faking it is that you aren't being true to yourself or your immediate family. If you raise your daughter even partially with that belief system, she may grow up to be a witness. If you can't fake it for a long time then she may end up shunning you in the future if you stop going to the meetings. She'll be told that the holidays are bad but see you celebrate them, it'll be very confusing (she'd also end up unintentionally outing you to your family so a double life won't be easy once she can talk in sentences). Be careful with this one. Lots of love to you.

My husband MISSED the meeting today! Unheard of!
by Julia Orwell inhe decided to take me somewhere nice in the country for a day instead, and when he suggested it last night i was amazed that he would have even thought of missing the meeting!
he was one of those guys who only missed a meeting, literally, if he had a spinal injury and couldn't move!.
but, i've been sharing a little of the ttatt with him, teensy tiny bits that i can substantiate from the bible or other reputable sources.

Julia I am so happy that this has happened and I hope it continues! Lots of love and hope to you and your husband.
Niomar, you really need to back down and do not judge anyone here. I have a big problem with someone who comes into this supportive group and starts casting stones like you obviously feel you somehow have the right to do. Shame on you for making that assumption. I'm so tired of self righteous attitudes and judgements being cast in God's name. You're just being mean for the sake of shaming someone else. I know you've been trained to do that but that kind of behavior is not welcome here.

STAY AWAY FROM MY KINDGOM HALL," LORD'S EVENING MEAL" INVITATIONS REVOKED!!!!!
by AuntConnie ini am very angry, pent-up rage call it!
so you will understand why and with great ease this subject is able to flow off my tongue onto the keyboard, because this time of the year is worse than your christmas time jitters!
anxiety, stress, compulsive babbling nuts are invading our service groups!

I do hope she's a troll, though I remember other JW's who feel this way. Lady Lee is right, witnesses don't help the disenfranchised because so many of them think they're too good for it. If you want a wealthy religion with clean people, you sure as heck picked the wrong one. lol But seriously don't invite people who you judge to be inferior if you're just going to complain about it.
Having said that, I do hope you're kidding and this is just a joke. :-)

stomach issues getting worse
by StopTheTears ini have not been able to post for a while due to my health issues.
i am in need of prayers because i am still having problems with diarrhea and very bad stomach cramps every single day that will not go away and my gastro doctor has taken me through stool tests and x-ray tests and cannot find out what is causing the diarrhea at all and i have been crying because the diarrhea is very bothersome.
i also need some prayers because i really need to know someone that has gone through the rny gastric bypass surgery and has had their gall bladder removed because i have a lot of questions.

I highly suggest Bragg's apple cider vinegar. I was having severe gall bladder attacks and since I now have ACV and apple juice in the house it's very easy to control. Chech out their website for great info. The apple cider vinegar has to have "mother" in it. Kind of like the Borg but it doesn't leave a bad taste in your mouth. LOL

Checklists for High-Control Groups/Cults
by Lady Lee inchecklist of characteristics.
deception lies at the core of mind-manipulating and high-demand ("cultic") groups and programs.
many members and supporters of these groups/movements are not fully aware of the extent to which they have been abused and exploited.

Thank you so much for putting this together. I wish I knew how to get my brothers and sister to read this. God this is so frustrating!

Shunned and Sorry (Herald Sun Article ) Vict. Aust.
by smiddy inin todays victorian newspaper was an article short and breif ,about the effects of shunning on a person.. 1.giving someone the cold shoulder can make you feel decidedly sorry for yourself.
researchers beleive we feel guilt and suffer from losing a social connection when we ostracise a freind.. 2.tests showed that being shunned, even by a faceless stranger, was upsetting.. 3.but complying with the researchers instructions to ignore another person was equally disheartening.. i sent a letter to the editor outlining a religous org.whose official policy is to shun members of their own family if they have been previously baptised and left the faith ,labelling them apostates ,and the heartache, trauma, breakup of familys this has caused for decades .
( this is the gist of what i said not word for word ) it will be interesting to see if they publish my letter.. any comments would be appreciated especially if you have seen this article.

Re: Will you attend the Memorial this year? Why? Why not?
by check inyou all had some interesting thoughts on that jw memorial thread.
some of you mentioned that you are going so that you can set some sort of example.
i gather that some of you believe that by going and eating, you are somehow showing them they can (or should) do it too.. that really confuses me.
