Hubble deep field photograph

i have always found the hubble deep field photograph, apparently hubbles most important photograph, very interesting.. for those of you who don't know, it's a long exposure or series of long exposures taken over many months of an otherwise completely empty and black region of space.. i was reading some info on it from the uk physicist brian cox, and he explains another dimension to it.. when you look at the deep field photograph, you are seeing a true 3d picture.

each galaxy in the picture are vast distances apart.

some relatively near, some almost the entire edge of the galaxy away.

I'm always in awe of this photo. There really are no words that can describe the realization of what it means. Thank you for posting it!

I just informed the parents about me and the TTATT... heart wrenching

well first i want to thank everyone here for the good points etc... i have received over the last few months.

you guys have really been helpful!.

so the other day my mother wrote me a 3 page letter telling me how she was so scared for me because she could tell my love for the truth was gone etc.. so i decided i wanted to totally rip the band-aid off and get this matter over and done with.

Family is drawing the line in the sand

so my family has obviously been noticing over the past several months that i've been missing meetings and fs.

i've had excuses sometimes, but not others, so my parents are definitely getting that this is more than a long bout of illnesses or fatigue.

i just received an email invitation to join them in service this weekend.

I'm sorry for what you're facing. I agree with Stauros, be honest with how you feel. Pray about it ask the universe for help (whatever your beliefs are) then write a letter. Explain how you feel and why. This may be the only chance you really have to tell them your point of view. But be prepared that they probably won't understand. But before you do that lay out why you are leaving, for you. Get it on paper so that it's clear in your head. Much love and support to you.

Feeling Guilty

i am feeling gulity because i will not be going to the summer convention.

i just can not sit through the talks they are sooo boring.

im cutting off all contact with the witnesses.

Get out and do something you've been wanting to do. Plan your day(s). Like everyone said, the guilt will pass and you'll realize your freedom. Prisoners don't always know which way to go when they're outside of prison walls. So I say, RUN! Be free! It's okay, you won't get hurt. :-)

Should I just DA or get DFD?

my never-a-jw dad told me today that mongrel jws who turn on me were never truly my friends and i'm better off without them, so why worry if i get disfellowshiped?.

i fear being disfellowshiped because my name will be dragged through the mud.

i also think it might be a good idea to da or get dfd because then the link is broken and the fade is over.

Let them do what they need to do. Their opinions of you are not based on reality because extreme JW's truly live in an alternate reality. That's why they cannot be logically reasoned with. Critical thinking has been taken from them, even from our friends and loved ones. It's hard, it's sad and out of all the difficulties in my lifetime, dealing with the fact that I have loved ones in the religion is the most difficult. Hands down. But you have to protect yourself. You are still traumatized and being in close proximity to the JW's is going to trigger your mind and body. What I'd suggest is that when they ask for you to come to a judicial committee, don't do it. Just refuse. Awesome story that my sister did last year; so the elders wanted her to come in and she ignored them. Then they actually went to her work (which was an hour away) and they handed her papers demanding that she come to the KH to see them on the next Sunday. Sunday morning the phone starts ringin at 9am and keeps ringing every 5 minutes. So my sister is totally stressed and she talks to her cop friend. He reads the paperwork that the elders had given her and is shocked because it's basically a summons and looks legal. It of course is not, we have to remind ourselves of that. Anyway, the cop friend says that he can make them stop if she wants him to, she does. So he goes to the KH and meets with the elders and tells them that the congregation will be slapped with a restraining order if they don't leave my sister alone! What I would have given to have seen the looks on their faces! LOL So, now when a particular elders wife sees my sister she busts out crying. Last time we saw her she's blaming my sister, "this is all your fault!"

They have no power over us unless we give it to them. It's up to us, and that is what drives them crazy. Lots of love to you Julia, it'll get better.

My JW best friend is bringing a 'heavy' around to my house to talk some sense into me.

i agreed, if only because i want to see my friend of many years.

the 'heavy' is a large, imposing man with a booming voice and is a creature of the gb through and thru (eg only visited his dfd dad on his death bed because it was a 'good witness' to the hospital staff) and i'm feeling stressed about seeing him.

i so badly wanted to see my friend though, i agreed without thinking and now wish i hadn't have.
