Jeff, in my opinion that's a classic from pan to fire thing...but then you didn't ask for my opinion.
I still wish you all the best though, and sincerely hope you are finding inner peace and joy on your journey.
hi gang:.
i will be interviewed on the cable tv network known as the "eternal world television network" (ewtn) about my conversion from the jehovah's witnesses to the roman catholic church.
the program is called "the journey home" and it will air on monday may 10th at 7 pm central time (usa).
Jeff, in my opinion that's a classic from pan to fire thing...but then you didn't ask for my opinion.
I still wish you all the best though, and sincerely hope you are finding inner peace and joy on your journey.
an older woman will never wake you up in the middle of the .
night & ask you, "what are you thinking?
" an older woman .
Okay, I'm Mak's wife and I think I know what got him thinking along these lines...a couple of nights ago I got up at 4:00am to go pee. On my way back to bed, here comes Mak on his way to go pee. I started singing the old Sinatra song "Strangers in the Night"...we both had a laugh. The next morning I told him "if you had a twenty-something girlfriend, she would never have gotten that joke, little less have been that witty at 4:00am.
I thought he was agreeing with me just to be nice, I guess I got him thinking!
our granddaughter and her wife made history today by being among the first 3022 official gay marriages to take place in the good ol' us of a. there are no more marriages currently being issued in oregon, but the ones that have taken placed are legitimate, binding, and recognized by the state of oregon.
in the interim the legislature has to come up with a law to make more of these marriages official.
i sure am proud to live in such a progressive state.
Hi Tammy,
It's been a couple of years since I had the pleasure to speak with you in person, I wanted to say hello! I am very happy for your granddaughter and her wife, I think that is so great!!!
My brother was in a committed relationship with his partner for over 25 years...he died in 1995, and I often think of him when I see these marriages on tv.
Take care Tammy and best regards,
Jane
what would your question be?
If my husband is appointed an elder do I instantly become a know it all bitch, or does it take years of practice?
i pertain to a congregation in the orange county.
from the ages of around 5-16 i went to all the meetings etc etc.
i am currently 18 years of age, although i am not the ''ideal'' christain boy, i have strong faith in jehova.
Koz I gotta say this in all sincerity...I wish my 21 year old daughter was more like you. Unfortunately she was not able to step out and have a good time, enjoy being young like you are obviously doing.
She pioneered right out of high school, four years later all her friends were married, some with kids. She got desparate for male attention and had an unbaptized publisher over to our house while we were out of town. The elders heard about it right away, and came and threatened to DF her and remover her as a pioneer. She killed herself the next day. Talk about loving support from the congregation after her death...NOT, it seems somehow it must have been our fault!!
By the way how do you feel about disfellowshipping someone and the emotional blackmail it really is???
I hope you don't think you are a sinner and somehow unworthy of God's love, I don't wish that on anyone.
yesterday i joined the "surgery club"...can't say i wish to keep being a member.
it was a same day surgery, but should have stayed at lest overnight.
didn't sleep much last night, as the pain meds made me itch terribly.
Hi codeblue, I hope you are feeling better soon. I didn't realize your surgery was today. Is your friend still around? Sorry we leave Friday for our trip, or I'd love to come up and see you this weekend!! We will get together soon. Big hugs from Makena and me, talk to you soon.
i get asked that question alot, some even ask what exactly my purpose is!
i can live with it.. if i had to answer my own question, i'd have to say it broken down into a number of points.
a. i like to see what the latest stuff is happening on the "apostate" side.. b. i like to watch the politics of this group.
My reasons are basically twofold, after 35+ years in there aren't alot of people that can relate to what I've been through, and that can relate. Also, because of the tragic event that got us out of the cult I feel I am in a unique position to point out the worst case senario of what can happen to folks in the religion...I just hope to get the point across that it's not a harmless religion.
this is to expound on what fe203girl said in an earlier topic.

it always bothered me as jw, just how little social and global responsibility we felt responsible for.
I've gotten more into recyling recently. I noticed my garage was filling up with styrofoam from the several wineries that send me wine monthly. I couldn't find a way to recycle it, so I called up the Napa wineries and asked why they don't use pulp products like our local Washington wineries do. Several of them called me back and shared my concerns about what to do with the styrofoam. Maybe it was a PR thing, but I hope I made them reconsider their choices.
I give to several charties, the humane society, AIDS foundation, and suicide prevention are my major ones.
I do feel guilty I did nothing about these things when I was a JW...
sen. robert f. kennedy, in look magazine said "but suppose god is black.
what if we go to heaven and we all our lives have treated the negro as an inferior and we look up and he is not white?
what then is our response?
When we study history, do we view blacks as an influencial, intelligent race? One that has suceeded in giving the world anything worthwhile?
If you study history starting with the Greeks "The craddle of civilization", than I can see where you are coming from...I suggest you add a book to your library "Black Athena" by Martin Bernal...his dad was a famous English Egyptologist.
i was born into the borg, i was wondering what made you join.
my mother who is now deceased use to say she did all this research.
my brother keeps stating that as this great fact to me.
My husband is 3rd generation, I was sucked in at 8 years old by the petting lions/tigers/bears pictures, I came from an extremely disfunctional family, and I had already seen the ugly side of people, especially racists, so the big love every nation/brotherhood talk was appealing.
