i recently got an unsolicited lecture from a well-intentioned but nevertheless misguided jw friend.
the gist of it was that i needed to go to all the meetings or i would miss out on "everlasting life.".
i responded that i do not need to go to meetings to have a relationship with god.
Yesterday at the meeting- it was said during the congregation bible study to learn about Jehovah we need to study and be at the meetings.
Thinking- wow how amazing how 3,000 folks, 5,000 folks heard the message from the apostles and got baptised all in one day without being at the "Kingdom Hall" !!!
i could be wrong of course , but as far as i recall 1925 was not the date of armageddon , but was the date the" princes of the earth" would be resurrected .
the princes of course were faithfull men of old such as abraham issac and jacob, anybody who had a prominent part in gods favour.. witnesses at assemblies after 1925 were constantly awaiting to welcome the resurrected princes of the earth up until the late 1950`s.
these faithfull resurrected men were to lead the rank and file into the glorious new system of christs thousand year reign.. smiddy.
So how in the world was these so called resurrected "worthys" suppose to get from the middle east to cali-fornia!!
Were they suppose to be resurrected in the same location and get together and say "Hey welcome back- we have a meeting with (the faithful and discreet slave) brother Rutherford- let's go" and how would they know to look up Rutherford and not Brooklyn bethel!

The Organization can make it very diffuclt to understand the true nature of what the bible actually teaches about having a relationship with GOD vs. trying to be his friend.

jehovahs witnesses are a teaching and preaching organization.. however, history shows that teachings do not make people self-motivated to do good or to be spiritual.
(mathew 23:37, 38) hence god will not choose an organization to serve no purpose!
in fact, he simply denounces preachers, teachers and miracle-performers.
Remember they have "no pipeline to Jehovah" per GB spokesman of some years past. So we shouldnt expect nothing but "spiritual food that doesn't sound right from a human standpoint".
today's watchtower lesson touched on the history of hezekiah's reign, and then made a surprising modern-day application.
having used my time before the meeting to research the underlying material instead of highlighting my magazine, i personally found this to be an upsetting study, and decided to put this warning here in the hopes that some active witnesses read it.. the most important thing i want to say to you is that the actual flow of events in this bible account were severely misrepresented, and that there are some disturbing implications in the distortions that were made.
1. hezekiah's father ahaz makes himself a vassal to assyria out of fear of their overwhelming might (2 kings 16:7, 8).. 2. upon becoming king, hezekiah rebels against assyria (2 kings 18:7).
GB is trying very hard to put "the organization" in the 1,000 year reign where the new scrolls hasnt even been open!
Imagine if the power goes out during armaggedon -how will the "no-pipeline to YHWH , not inspired" FDS get the instructions to the so call 'Duke" boys in the thousands of congregations since jw.org will prove useless!!!
ahh ---that explains why we have to listen to the "DUH" we have no clue whats going on" instructions!!
went to the movie theatre over the weekend to take in jack ryan (not bad) and saw the trailer for "noah" (russell crowe and a solid cast) whats the bet the dubs will be given a rule encouraged to examine their own consciences when attending this movie.
from what i hear its fairly true to the genesis account, but hey its hollywood with cgi at their disposal.. .
my guess is they will not be allowed to go until the gb 2.0 attend a screening at loews cineplex, grab some popcorn and pop and give it their blessing..

when one looks back retrospectively at the very beginning of this organization, you could see that the wts.. was on a structural platform of success, created by cunningly created doctrines, such as the invisible return of.
christ, the end times and the imminently soon to come armageddon, all bundled together.. .. this religious organization like so many others established in the united states was unregulated and had.
no upper governing control over its daily operations.. they proclaimed and taught what they wanted to or needed to sustain their operations as a publishing house.. .
Dog1- I was an elder just like you with the same rationale- get your hands on the Ray Franz books- be sure you read them in private.
It's time you got the inside scoop on what happens behind the scenes. You may not believe what you read at first but it will at least give you something to think about.
As you read the first chapter/second chapter of the first book--It will make you put it down but give it a chance.
I started reading them a few years ago and still have to go back and re-read because its so hard to understand that after giving 30 years of my life to this organization, the governing body really don't care about me in the big picture of things- it's ORGANIZATION FIRST- people second and I don't think that's what JESUS taught.
In your next elders meeting I dare you say you don't believe everything what the GB says. OR you don't agree with that particular point of the GB. All eyes will be on you and the floor will be yours to say how you really feel. You know and everybody on this forum knows you CANNOT question the GB and get away with it- your years in the truth- your service and time as a GREAT elder ALL flies out the window.- just saying.
Please read Ray Franz books and meditate on what you read- it's mind blowing!
