Thoughts about the two witness rule

i was thinking this morning about how i feel the two witness rule is not applied to every situation.

take a charge of adultery for example.

i know of times when elders camped out in front of someone's house all night to see if two people spend the night together and this would be grounds for adultery, however, unless they peeked into the windows, or snuck in to be there, they were only witnesses to the fact that someone went in the place and came out the next morning.

I know of times when elders camped out in front of someone's house all night to see if two people spend the night together and this would be grounds for adultery, however, unless they peeked into the windows, or snuck in to be there, they were only witnesses to the fact that someone went in the place and came out the next morning. The have no proof, nor do they even really know what if any thing happened.

I know one sister who obtained a scriptural divorce because her husband was seen by several people in the company of another woman. There were no two witnesses to each occurance, rather several single witnesses to separate events. Also just being in the company doesn't prove anything, but it satified the elders enough to allow the sister to get a divorce. The husband, by the way was an unbelieving mate, and they were both miserable with each other, so it was good they got divorced.

Anyone else run into situations like this? Are there other offences you can think of where the two witness rule is not enforced?

last night on local news,(tulsa,ok) they warned of a terror attack before the end of the week.

urged us to stock up on bottled water and foods.

have sheets of plastic on hand to cover vents in case of a dirty bomb.. anyone else hearing any warnings?.

Whenever I run into JW that shun me

i haven't been df or da, just left.

i run into jw's in restaurants, grocery stores and on the street and they act so stuck up, or give me a dirty look if i smile at them and say hello.. i then think to myself, what reason do they have to act so arrogant toward me?

they support a religion that promotes the secrecy of child molestation.

I then think to myself, what reason do they have to act so arrogant toward me? They support a religion that promotes the secrecy of child molestation. Their punishment for child molesters is that microphone privileges are taken away(hard time). They allow child molesters to go door to door, putting children at risk.

Their organization has stuck their nose in family affairs, the Lawrence Hughes case, comes to mind. Whatever happened to the father being the head of the household, or letting families work things out on their own.

As an organization, they have misled many over the blood issue and caused the deaths of thousands. Young men went to prison, thinking they were doing God's will, but it was the decision of a few old men in Brooklyn who never had to go through anything like that. the organization encouraged the slaughter or thousands of innocent people in place like Malowi, for not obtaining a twenty five cent card. Yet, JWs in Mexico paid bribes to the goverment, and this was ok.

Their literature and talks are always geared to do more, do more, do more. Yet their organization rarely reaches out to help the poor, the elderly, the hurting ones of the community. If a JW family is needing assistance, it comes from a few in the congregation that have good hearts and a few dollars to spare. It is not an organized effort. If they can put their efforts into building a Kingdom Hall together, imagine what they could do for someone who needs a home, or home repaired,groceries, clothing, heating, medicines or many other needs.

They are so closed minded and prejudiced. They cannot imagine that a person could leave their organization because they see a lot of things that just aren't right. People that leave are branded as terrible, and bad mouthed.

And so in closing, I want to say whenever they shun me, I feel a sense of pride. I saw what they truly were, and knew I wasn't like that. If they want to hate me for following my conscience, so be it. I can live with myself and my decision, I don't want to be a part of an organization that does such horrible things.

They have nothing to be proud of.

Do You Feel Better Since You Stopped Meetings?

so many witnesses have been ill. i'm not talking about the flu or a cold, either.

many witnesses suffered from ailments that were not necessarily common to most people.

i know of jw's that had to literally run out of the meetings every week because they said they were allergic to perfumes and different scents.

Yes, I battled depression and low self esteem on a daily basis. Physically, the sitting for such long periods of time made me ache, assemblies were real killers.

We also have less colds, flu, and viruses as a family since quitting. Seemed like nobody had brains enough to stay home when they were coughing, sneezing, running fevers or keep their sick kids home either. This always irritated me. Out of concern for others, we would stay home if sick, and it would take a couple of weeks or more for the illness to move through our family.

Hubby passed away this morning...

i want to thank all those that helped and encouraged me in my hard times!..hubby passed away from his cancer this morning.

i am so sad my heart is broken.

we decided to go ahead and have a memorial for him this weekend at the kingdom hall he went to.

I'm going shopping tonight

we're calling it a shopping card so the kids don't blurt out food stamps.

anyway, i have funds on my card so i'm going shopping tonight.

It's been awhile since I really went shopping. We've eaten a lot of Ramen Soup lately. It will be good to get some fresh veggies and fruits and maybe some goodies too.

Reaching 40, whats all that about!

nearly everyone i know is 40 yrs old this year, even today a good friend reached the big 40. .

i'm 40 in september (omg) and i dont feel any older than when i was 18. do you?

Just before I turned 40, I was totally surprised finding out I was going to have our fifth child. It was strange when I went to doctor's office and we had to put down our birth dates. As I signed in most of the other expectant mom's were the age of my oldest child.

I always said I didn't want to change diapers in my 40's but I did and I was so glad for the chance to be a mommy one last time. Having him has kept both my husband and myself thinking young,(I don't know about feeling young, sometimes it's draining with little kids but we enjoy it)

I'm just a few years from 50 now and will enjoy that decade too.

I mark out the territory I'm going to work, introduce myself, show my newspaper, present my offering of different size ads. Write down who I talk with, find out who is the owner or decision maker if not there. Set up a time to meet with that person. don't take it personal if I'm turned down. Realize I've got to visit a lot of places to get one yes. I sold 8 ads this week, most will run for 4 weeks and some said not this week, come back next week because they want to be in our Valentine's issue. So, I'm feeling fairly hopeful. Manager of the grocery store keeps telling me to come back in 2 days to talk to him about the checker job. he has told me that 3 times. I don't think I'll get the job, but it's ok, he did place an ad with me. And if I keep selling ads I won't have to work for someone else. I like the freedom of setting my own hours and being able to drive around.

Hubby's business has picked up too since we started running it from home. We've had several people come out to drop off work and he's out on a service call now.

The economy is still bad here, the local bank opened an account for people to contribute money to the school so it won't have to close. I felt so bad for one of our fellow business owners. He converted his business place so he could live in the back and run his business in the front, his business is so slow he has lost his telephone and is trying to work with the bank so they don't foreclose on his building.

Got cold chills when I heard about the shuttle this morning, it is so sad. They said there are only three space things left and no one makes any more, so don't know if the goverment will continue with space program.

Hope there are better times ahead for all.

Call and see how much is in your account before going to the store. this makes it a bit more discreet to use food stamps as the people behind you will think it is a credit card or debit card.

The social worker said it usually takes a couple weeks to get everything to go through but she would try to get ours through sooner.

She also said there was rise in people needing help in our area. The parking lot and waiting room were filled.

Tried to get ads for the past two days. Everyone is having a hard time and they don't have the money for advertising. I'm wondering if it is possible that this area is actually in a depression while other areas are in a recession.

I have to talk to the manager of the local grocery store tomorrow about the checker job. The hardware store said they might have a job for my husband in another month.
