people often ask me why i don't have children...."is it because you don't like them?
" it's quiet the contrary.
i like them alot!
Scully,
Excellent points, as usual.
Lucy,
The "JW" thinking remark is so typical of someone that cannot make an intelligent reply.
I disagree. Here's a very simplistic example of JW thinking:
This is what I think, and if you don't agree with me, then you're wrong, selfish, bad (insert label of choice).
Here's an example of non-JW thinking:
This is what I think, but I realize not everyone agrees and perhaps there is some merit to your viewpoint.
Of course, JW's do not have the market cornered on this type of thinking. I see your point, Lucy, and even agree with you to an extent; however, it appears to me that you are saying anyone who wants to have a child is wrong or bad for choosing to do so, and it's that position with which I disagree. If I'm missing something, please correct me.

(((Latte)))
Ok..... you will just have to come to my house to be personally introduced.........lol
Thanks for the invite! The plans are still on for a visit next year but I'll confess to a little nervousness about traveling if the US decides to start dropping bombs.
BTW...instead of introducing me to Shakira and Britney, is it possible to scare up a couple of hot, single neighbor guys??
Dana
P.S. Harry, months of trying to forget just went down the drain! Thanks a lot, friend.

Matty,
it depends on your definition of the word "Selfish", it doesn't have to always be a negative thing to be selfish
That was my point as well. You just said it more succinctly (Damn you! LOL)
Lucy,
So you believe then that there is only one possible reason for a woman to want to be a mother and only one possible reason for a man to want to be a father? I personally don't feel that human behavior or motivation, in ANY area, is that black and white.

I would exercise caution in making statements like that; it's too close to labeling, which many of us dislike because it infers a negative judgement towards others who don't view the issue the same way. That said, most of what we do as humans is "selfish", meaning that we act in our own self-interests (gawd, I can't believe I said that! ). However, it is important to remember that the desire to reproduce is a very powerful, and NORMAL, human imperative. It's good that you are aware of how strongly you feel about it and I'm assuming that you've chosen not to have children; they're certainly not for everyone . Different strokes for different folks, hey?

i thought about this tonite, i was out on the town with my husband, trying to forget about the week i had of being sick.
trying to not think about my 3 kids problems they all have,,,,,,,,like who gets to do what this weekend and who's turn it is to call the radio.
just trying to unwind a bit.
Hi ((((Dede))))
I think that what you're experiencing is normal. About the first 2 years after I left, I thought about it often, and had nightmares and other dreams about being a dub, but it slowly started tapering off. You mentioned that you have many questions that need to be addressed, and I definitely used to feel that way too, but they've become less important to me as time has gone by. I got caught up in developing a new life, in figuring out what I think, as opposed to what I had been told to think, and somehow most of the questions that seemed to be so immediate sort of faded into the background.
I also was raised a dub, and spent 30+ years as one; it takes a while for all of that programming to get out of your system and I'm not sure that it ever goes away entirely, but it does get better. I can't say how often I think about being an ex; it's kind of a background noise for me these days. It's there, but I don't give it a lot of thought. Even when I'm here, sometimes I have to really struggle to remember what it was like, and the most common emotion I experience when I do think about it is one of relief that I'm out and that my kids can grow up normal (well, relatively normal...they DO have me for a mom! ).
Dana
P.S. Glad that you're feeling better and able to get out and have some fun
.
anyone out there from the union park congregation in orlando, fl between 1980 to say 1988?
my family grew up in that hall and we moved in 1985. i have heard bits and pieces through the years on some of them, but would love to see who is out here..
Heather,
OMG!! What a small world, indeed. Yes, I was thinking of Jim and Laura; they were really nice folks. And I think that I must have met you at some point in time. I spent a lot of time with Pat and Rhonda, and with the kids (you gotta admit, Pat and Rhonda had beautiful children!
So you hung out with Elena?? LOL I used to stay at their house frequently. My brother married, and later divorced, Renee. Tanya and I were pretty good friends and I had a crush on Mark for the longest time. Which Richter did you marry? At one time, I had a little "thing" going with Randy. His mom wanted us to hook up soooo bad LOL but it was not to be; I'm sure she'd be glad of that now, seeing as I'm a horrible apostate
I think I vaguely remember meeting your father but my memory plays tricks on me at times, so I can't say for sure. Anyway, it's really cool that you're here. Are you still in the Orlando area? Perhaps the next time we do an Orlando apostofest, we'll get to meet you
Dana
Awww Matty,
You're a bit of alright! All hail the SPAM God in our midst! LOL
That SYN seems ok, but one has to be concerned when one considers his choices in pics
