Yes well said Magnum. The Bible, like Greek and Roman mythology is full of gods and spirits being jealous, angry and vengeful. Just like humans! The fact they say we are suffering now because of an argument between two spirits, God and Satan, is astonishingly like pagan mythology with humanity being used as pawns. There is nothing to show it was written by anything other that humans.

Bible's mention of physical beauty- why?
by Magnum infor years, as i've read through the bible, i've wondered why bible writers were concerned about physical beauty (see references below)?
i realize it's human nature to be interested in beauty, but why did they see fit to record in the so-called "word of god" the fact that some of the people they wrote about were beautiful?
looks are not supposed to matter according to jw doctrine (and probably the doctrine of many christian-professing sects).

My father smoked for sixty years. He didn't get lung cancer but the last few years of his life were miserable. His lungs were shot so that he could only walk a couple of steps around the shops with me before he had to stop and rest, gasping for breath. I know you are probably not advocating smoking but I just wanted to say that because people say, oh not everyone gets cancer from smoking. Which is true but it makes your old-age hell. Just sayin...

What new books are released this year?
by EndofMysteries ina relative called and said another relative called them and mentioned some book about the life of rutherford and russell.
is this correct?
i wouldn't be surprised if they were publishing more 'white washed' information to try to diffuse the facts people are learning when doing real research.

OneEyedJoe the ATms at assemblies shocked me when I heard about them on this forum. It's the psychological impact I believe that's the problem, you just feel you have to give a larger amount with a card payment

I would tell anyone who cared to listen, never give up. When you live through despair there is something amazing on the other side of it. It is peace. It surprised the hell out of me.

a sense of responsibility
by Ruby456 indo parents here feel a strong sense of responsiblity for raising their children as witnessess?
an xwitness friend was saying she and her husband feel very bad for having brought up their children as witnesses and they feel they want to make amends but are unable to do so.
what advice would you give them.

Ruby I feel very strongly that when people become ex-JWs and their adult children leave, no matter how long that takes, they should apologise for raising their kids in a dangerous cult. My in-laws never apologised to my husband or his sister and I really think they should have.
It severely damaged their children's lives and they have never acknowledged that they, at the very least, made a dreadful mistake. My sister-in-law will no longer have anything to do with them which is very sad. Actually talking about this has helped clarify it in my mind. The next time I speak to my mother-in-law I will suggest it, it might help her get her daughter back.

Conventions
by free2beme inas the conventions are in full swing, and my relatives who are still in make a point to tell me what their vacation will include.
i am reminded of a couple of things about conventions i do not normally think about.. one, the people who would protest the conventions.
some with bags on their head, others just holding signs.

When they talk about all the preaching work they have accomplished in the last hundred years I always want to ask why does god keep letting another generation be born that needs to be preached to? If he'd brought the big A a hundred years ago none of this building and preaching work would have been necessary!

its a nice day outside, i think im gonna go enjoy it.
GoUnion, well done. There are great things to enjoy in this world. It's not going to be easy for you but even though my family shun me would I go back to that asylum? No, a thousand times no. Perhaps it won't come to that at all for you, you might get them all out.
