Hi Purrpurr, I know it's hard but the magic and wonder is still there, you will find it again. What makes you happy? Try and just chill for a while and don't worry about what it is all about. Looking after yourself, filling your needs will make you emotionally stronger and you will be more able to cope. Really I promise :) It's just the opposite of what we were taught, find out what makes you happy and look after yourself first. Then you will be able to find a new direction and start reading and exploring ideas. As for certainty, that has gone for good I'm afraid, but you will learn to love not having all the answers and trying to answer questions instead. Take care

I had a Tarot card reading
by LisaRose inso, i am in washinton state visiting my son and his family and we went to a concert that had a fortune tellers booth, actually a gypsy wagon.
i decided to do something no jw would ever do, have a tarot card reading.
i wasn't really expecting anything, as i don't believe they are connected with the satan, but i don't believe they can actually read your future either.

I'm curious, Xanthippe, did you also visit any mediums who gave you incorrect information? How did you arrange to meet these mediums who were accurate (I'm wondering how much they knew about you in advance)? - Apog
Two were in local pubs. One was advertised on a board outside and the other was in the local paper. I just walked in on the night, no appointments. One was at a Quaker Meeting Hall in the city and I just walked in on the night.
Did any give me incorrect information? Yes at the Quaker place the medium told me about someone who was very significant in my childhood who had a built-up shoe. Although I remember people who had built-up shoes, mainly because they had polio as children, I couldn't remember anyone significant.
Years later after my mother had died I was taking my dad to the hospital for his glaucoma test when he told me he had been born with a club foot and had worn a built-up shoe as a child until the foot was corrected. It was the first I had heard about it, he was seventy-four.

LisaRose I had a tarot card reading but it was vague.
However when I was doing all my research into life after death and reading books on NDEs and OBEs I visited several mediums.
Among other things, they told me my mother's name;
My husbands's name;
My husband's exact height;
My daughter's name;
The fact that my husband had a birth defect in his hand;
My job;
Events in my childhood;
That there were religious disputes in my family with people not talking to one another!;
That we have friends in New Zealand;
There was nothing vague, they didn't ask any questions and they told me specific facts like names. It was very interesting research.

Xanthippe wrote, "All I got for pioneering for 10 years was a demand letter to give my discount literature back when I stopped! Charming."
You have got to be kidding, right? I understood that they were tight and greedy by that's extreme so.
Imminent1975, it's quite true. I remember opening the letter, realising it was from the society and scouring it for a single line of gratitude for my hard work. Not a word! I had to stop pioneering because I was so exhausted and ill so I remember needing some encouragement that I had done well, but I didn't get any. Never mind it was another nail in the coffin of my WTS beliefs. We left a couple of years after that.

Hello
by lurkernomore ini thought it was high time to introduce myself (without my name of course).
as my name would suggest i have been reading your intriguing post, thoughts and discussions for some time now.
around 3/4 months to be exact.. i guess to start with it would seem fitting to give a little background on my current situation.. i'm a born-in, but have over the last few years found that through a number of varying occurences, (some of which i may discuss in future posts) that my 'zeal' has gone from regular field service and meetings to no service in over a year and very sporadic meeting attendance.

Perfect Relationship, He Still Broke Up With Me
by tiff21390 inlast month, my best friend of four years and boyfriend of six months came home from a jehovah's witness convention.
he'd been acting strangely the entire weekend and i knew something was wrong.
i initiated a discussion and he said, "essentially our relationship is wrong and i'm not supposed to be with you.

Cute animal vids to lift my spirits. Thank you Dis and Apog. Just what I needed
Sometimes nature is not 'red in tooth and claw' and there's probably some good evolutionary reason for it but what the hell it cheers me up.
