Do you blame Jehovah, Yahweh, God, Jesus, etc. for the corruption of the borg?
by Fading Begins indo you hold god accountable for the corruption of the borg?
i've noticed there seems to be a bitterness, by some, that includes "god" in the equation, when discussing the borg and their policies, the governing body, elders actions, etc.
do the borg's transgressions originate with god, or does he feel the same disgust as we do?

I suffer from depression - Should that stop me marrying and having kids?

Some people are born will low serotonin levels just as others are born with low insulin levels. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter, a vital chemical needed for the brain to function correctly. It can be replenished with SSRI anti-depressants (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor). The most important think to know is that stress, particularly prolonged stress depletes Serotonin. If you are thinking about your future, marriage, children etc., you may frst need to find out a few things about yourself. Was it your life as a JW and the chronic stress involved in that life that caused you to be depressed? Was it a particular event or trauma? Or are you a person with low serotonin who will need to be aware of stress management and/or occasional SSRI meds to keep your brain chemistry on track? Whatever the cause it is not your fault. The brain is a very complex electro-chemical apparatus. Take care of yourself.

Things we missed out on :(
by lilbluekitty inanyone else get really mad sometimes about the fact that we missed out on proms, dances, sports games, being in sports, being in band, being in clubs, or going to college, or even getting good grades since armageddon was always "right around the corner"?
even if i went to college this year (at age 28), i'd be 10 years behind everyone my age!
i'm still going to go back but i feel so upset sometimes how far behind my peers i am in just about everything, including in the working world, where i am an entry-level employee with only a high school diploma (thankfully i didn't quit school to pioneer!!

Yeah I do feel mad about it lilbluekitty. My daughter is going to university in September and I think I am going to hide in her suitcase! Go for it, get your degree. Strangely I used to feel my life was so far behind but lately I feel I've caught up and am doing more than people my age where I work. Probably because we do feel it so keenly that we have missed out we actually work very hard at making every day count now.

Great thread rubadubdub. The last thread on goals didn't last very long which worried me.
Love everyone's achievements on here and their goals.
I had a goal to get a BSc degree when I left and I did that.
I wanted to visit Florence and the Italian lakes, US and Canada and I've done that.
Pickler I want to see the Northern Lights too!
Mum wow you've done so much! A retirement career is such a good idea.
I still want to go to Egypt, Yellowstone National Park, the Himalayas, Africa, Norway, Petra in Jordan, etc etc.

amazon says it's worth 20 dollars.
will it ever get to be worth more if we keep hold of it?.

I found Crisis of Conscience in my library 24 years ago and it saved my life. In the UK, just so you know, they don't sell off books in booksales in libraries until they become tatty or in the case of science and medical books when they are just too old to be accurate. Ask if a donated book will be put into stock or got rid of. Sometimes they don't accept donations because they don't have any room at the present time. Whoever donated that book or suggested the library buy it I owe them a huge debt of gratitude. It was before the internet so it was the only way I could have found it.
At the moment in the library where I work there is a book written by the former editor of the local newspaper of his experience growing up as a JW and his subsequent escape from it. This goes out on loan regularly.

Yes it's rather like reading a tabloid newspaper. Sometimes I am early at the hairdressers and I pick up a tabloid newspaper there because there's nothing else to read. After five minutes I want to slash my wrists - the country is going to hell, the world is in a state etc.
The JWs get this all week at the meetings and in the magazines, no wonder they are depressed about the state of the world.
Could you be positive about the good things people are doing to make the world a better place, maybe?

Were Neanderthals perfect ?

neanderthals were a people of the same "kind" or species in the biblical sense, as is evident from our all carrying some neanderthal dna.. as the neanderthals came before adam and eve, they must have been perfect, and yet their remains show some horrendous signs of disease.. i wonder how the wt could possibly explain all this ?.
and where does it leave their doctrines of sin and univesal sovreignty etc ?.

As far as I am aware they were either a subspecies of homo sapiens or a different species altogether. They interbred with homo sapiens so modern humans carry Neanderthal dna.

I don't want to be too rude; these men have watched me grow up.
I would like to think that they hold high esteem for me.
They don't hold you in high esteem, Magotan. They think you are turning your back on Jehovah. If it helps think of them as mentally ill and you are leaving the asylum. You can't explain that you are well now and you need to leave and get on with your life. You can't tell them they are delusional and everything they believe is rubbish can you?
You just have to leave them to it and hope they use all the resources available to them on the internet to get well like you have. Sorry it is so painful but you can't help them and you need to leave. You are not hurting them, the WTS is hurting them. Look after yourself now because this is traumatic and you need to take care of you.
