Are You A Patriotic Person Since Leaving The Witnesses?
by minimus ini'm into politics but i still don't consider myself patriotic..
-

YES. I AM PATRIOTIC.
An entire education spent not saluting the flag, not singing the national anthem, what a shame!
Contrary to what some other posters have said traveling overseas actually made me MORE patriotic. Facing death far from home made grateful to step onto my native soil.
A US passport is a precious thing, and I took that for granted. People die, steal, risk their everything for the mere CHANCE to be in this country.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

American Rantings About World Cup Soccer (Football)
by RubaDub ini try ... i really try to watch football (soccer) ... it's world cup time ... i really do try.. i just don't get it ... i really don't.. yes, it's a world-wide sport.
in most countries it is the number 1 or number 2 sport ... no doubt about it.
it's maybe number 5 in the usa for professional sports.. from an american's perspective (i think i speak for many), we just wonder if these guys actually have testicles.

DF'ed and Confused...
by Stumbeline inso i think the title pretty much says it all.
i have a tendancy to be long winded about things, so i'll just give a general introduction and maybe tell things as i go along.
i don't even really know what i want from this site (ironically i remember jehovahs-witness.net mentioned from the platform as a site not to go to).

A farce elder here
by His Excellency injust to share a little about me:.
i was recently appointed an elder, about 6 months ago now, and that is exactly two years after my awakenning, but funny that the appointment came also about 2 years after i had completely lost all faith in god and had been leading a full time anti-jw life .
makes you wonder the role of the holy spirit in the entire nomination or appointment process.. .

Why did Jesus tell the convict on the cross next to his, that he would be joining him in Heaven TODAY??
by Faithful Witness inmaybe a silly question, but i'm curious about this part of the story of christ's crucifixion, when the 1 thief challenges jesus to save himself and "us too" from their deaths, but the 2nd thief rebukes him and pleads with jesus... .
luke 23:42-43: and he said unto jesus, lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
and jesus said unto him, verily i say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in paradise.. .

Wow. This topic has suprised me. Dont you believers believe Jesus could do miracles and multiply things and change them into other substances. Didnt he float into the sky at the end. This debate sounds like Jesus offered the other guy a plane ticket to Hawaii. Some of you are like, impossible, he could not go to Hawaii, it didnt exist, or, he could not go to Hawaii, because he was in Detriot! As if you were there, or as if J needs a ticket! then: how could he have lied to us, etc.
To me the verse says: Today you will be with me in Hawaii. And heres the thing. Yes. I can believe that they went to Hawaii, took a 3 day Vacay, and then Jesus had to get back to it so he made another appearance before checking out for good.
I am not even big on Jesus but I take what he says at face value. I dont try to make it match what I believe. Plus, he had superpowers, so he can do whatever he wants, Paradise, Hawaii, whatevs. Where is your faith, believers.
To the OP: I think you real question is, Can I go with Jesus to Hawaii, like now?

Past couple years of being awake might be catching up with me
by noonehome ini was a little too honest with a super close friend who is one of the most important people in my life.
my mistake.
she talked to an elder about my doubts...i know she had my best interests in mind and i hold nothing against her.

listen up noonehome.
you need to take charge of this situation NOW. Stop being so emotional, or your whole fing life is going to get flushed down the toilet just cause you love everyone and trust them so much blah blah blah.
You have two important priorities right now:
1. Graduate college, celebrate what you have accomplished.
2. Get a job.
Wow look at that. You could get a job. It might even be that you HAVE TO MOVE for your job.
Moving away doesnt mean you lose everyone. Are you still living at home. Have you lived in the same house all your life. Why are you being so dramatic. It wouldnt have to be a BIG move across the country.
Listen to the two options you have made for yourself:
1. Move away, lose everyone, be a busy JW
2. Stay with people who just love you conditionally and be a busy JW
your worst fear:
3. Be Dfed for apostasy cause you are a blabbermouth
I would just like to point out to you how limited your vision of your future is.
Did it ever occur to you that you might find a job you really like , make friends who really care for you and could care less what you think about God, and have a fulfilling life OUTSIDE WTBTS without having to put any of that on the table. It is no ones business but yours.
By the way, try this: IMAGINE YOURSELF HAPPY. IMAGINE THE LIFE YOU WANT.
Contrary to what you have been taught, it is entirely possible.
Dont be a fool. Button up, make a plan. I dont care if you study with those elders or not. It sounds like if you do you wont be able to keep your newly developed critical thinking skills in check. I see this playing out as a total disaster unless you wise up to the danger zone you have put yourself in and act with some sense of strategy.
I wish I could slap some sense into you!

If you are honest and this is not a joke, then thanks for your honesty. Whatever the opinions of the members of this forum, being honest about your motivation and intentions will provide others with perspective on their own local elder body. I am sure you are not alone and many use the elder position to their best interests are you are doing.
The danger comes when you believe you are the only clever one or are in any way unique.
