Can i give my opinion on who jesus may have been, provided he existed? He was a jew, who for some reason or another had a tremendous spiritual experience. He experienced the unity with the universe similar to what some buddhist, hindus or other mystics do. Naturally, he fitted this experience into the traditions of the time, using contemporary terminology. None of the narrow minded jews, not even the gospel writers understood his meanings. One who has had a similar experience can pick out what is left of his original meanings.
The funny thing is, that secular contemporary testimony, if put together, doesn't fill even one page. That is rather strange, considering as he is supposed to have been the greatest man who ever lived. There were a few men around the same time period who are supposed to have lived similar lives with miracles, crucifictions, teaching etc. Is it possible that some of those stories were merged together around this one person?

Good questions.
How do you know that total disorder preexisted order? How do you know that there wasn't something else not nessesarily god before that? If you have ever seen a picture of a cine wave, you know that the wave oscilates alternately below the average and above the average. This applies to electronics and sound. Something like positive pressure and negative pressure or vacuum. If this principle was applied in the big bang theory, then a negative or mirror universe of antimatter or somesuch may have preexisted. Just thoughts.
Here is another thought. Hydrogen gas clouds pictures were shown the last couple of years, stars were seen in the process of being created out of the hydrogen gas. Due to the time it takes light to travel, it was about 6000 years ago where that was happening. Of course no one could prove god wasn't doing it, but no could prove that he was. Let's say that he wasn't responsible, then the universe may be creating these stars itself. Kinda leaves god out of the picture, if you see what i mean.
On the other hand, maybe god is the universe, or rather, maybe he underlies everything. I'm not sure.

If you go the jesus route, hopefully you will discover the meaning of 'the kingdom is within you'. Remember that the ones who wrote the gospels didn't understand about what jeus was talking. He meant that we have everything inside of us, along with divinity. So, ultimately we have all responsibility for ourselves and all power within.

Hang in there. These good people are addressing most of your questions. There is a lot involved in answering your questions. I will respond to only one topic. Does god use an organisation. An exbethelite, tom cabeen wrote a good answer to this. It is at: http://caic.org.au/jws/organization/godorg1.htm
I would encourage you to download it and read it. While, in the bible, groups of people at times followed god or jesus, god mostly communicated to diverse individuals. When wanted to say something to someone, he often spoke directly to them, not going through what might be thought of as his spokesman or woman.
The wt cannot show an uninterupted chain of gods org leading to charles russel. If you work back from russell, he got his stuff from the second/seventh day adventists, who were started by william miller in the early 18 hundreds. Miller in turn was a baptist. The baptists go way back to the ananaptists. Does the wt see these as gods org?? NO!
If you feel the need to belong, well, in the christian world, jesus is the org. Peter said, lord to WHOM shall we go away to? You see, it is jesus. Church groups are merely incidental, for encouragement, but not to tell you what to do, or get between you and jesus. According to the bible, jesus can be in a billion places at once.
So check out the org theory at the above address.

seems to me there are mainly three roads most of us have taken.
1.we did something "wrong" and were disfellowshipped and after felt able to look at the society in a different light.. 2.we didn't like the "truth" and were looking for a way out.. 3.we wanted it to be the truth but were overcome by the mountain of evidence against it.. which is the most common i wonder.. also do our motives play a large part in how we deal with information criticising the org.. without a reason to act information seems useless.. for instance if a person feels he has nothing to gain by leaving the org will he read different things into the same info as us?.
i think so and that all who leave must have a reason to do so, something to gain.. this does not make their reasoning wrong or prove they we are looking for just excuse.. but is a normal way in which humans deals with information.. two humans can have the same information but if they want or desire different things they may use the information differently.. maybe thats wht so many say "where else is there to go?
number 4 I felt i wasn't able to do enough and was sinking into deep depression. Then ray franz's book was laid on me. That was it.
years ago i remember reading an old book about the life of charles t. russell.
as a young man, russell was indignant with the major churches and at night used to write scornful letters and placed them on the buildings for the public to see.
he used harsh phrases such as "off spring of vipers" and "harlots".

Maybe the wt pulled the camera when russel's corpse made an obscene jesture.

jehovah's witnesses jump in to fix homes.
each weekend, volunteers help flood victims recover.
by richard vara.
I wonder if they get to count their time.
reuters.... in a surprise development today, jehovah, the god of the christian fundamentalist sect 'jehovah's witnesses' made a statement about the recent controversy regarding the watchtower bible and tract society(wts) and its ngo status.
the 'wts' has now dissassociated itself from its previous ngo connection but had held such a position for the past 9 years or so.
'i've had enough' said the diety, 'i just don't know what i am supposed to do with these people.

Wonderful. I love it. Of course the wt may use some of this.
