Long time Lurker, ready to join in...
by Blackbird Singing inhi all, i'm a long time lurker, ready to join in and add my two cents worth now and then!
i was in the religion for 25 years, out now for 8, along with my husband, daughter, and son!
i would have to say pretty much the whole time i was in i didnt want to be, pretty much "dreaded" all aspects of it, meetings, service, assemblies, and talks, i hated talks, man o man would i be grouchy the whole week i had a scheduled talk.. we didnt have much family in, but lots of friends and many jw employees, pretty much lost all that, down to just one jw employee left(thats a good thing).

'Help us to appreciate'
I'm not sure if it was just the hall I went to, but the dolts on stage would rattle this phrase off no less than 20 times per meeting. It drove me bonkers. Wish I could have turned it into a drinking game!
Also when they referred to the crackers and wine as 'emblems' at he memorials. For whatever reason as a kid I always thought of automobile hood ornaments whenever they would say 'emblems'

What you wish you had been told when you were younger
by Most Noble inwhat do you wish people told you when you were younger?.

I fully agree with iamwhatiam.
I wish I had been told I was loved unconditionally.
Actually, I wish I was told AND shown.
But, like most of us, I was subjected to people acting like Christians, not Christ-like.

I remember the John Denver story although I didn't hear it with the Johnny Carson angle.
What really stands out when I think about this topic is all the "demonized" items and places. Don't remember specific stories, but remember always dreading bringing a "demonized" item into the house. What nonsense!

Jesus invisible presence in 1914, what purpose did it serve?
by jam inwhy did jesus arrive invisible?
what is he supposedly to do.
for mankind since 1914?

Don't know what purpose it serves, but Marvel comics has a lot to answer for. The original idea/excuse was thought up while the GB was sitting around reading the Fantastic 4.....
It makes so much sense now!
Obviously Stan Lee is ghost writing for the gb!
