Actually, I would cast my vote for Nosferatu's threads about the Nigerian scammers.

Santa Clause and lying....
by Oxnard Hamster inone reason the jws don't celebrate christmas, besides the fact it's supposedly an insult to god, is that they purport that it's wrong to "lie" to children by telling them santa claus exists.
i really didn't give the issue much thought until recently.
the jw i used to study with called me and asked how i was doing, and we eventually got on the subject of christmas, and he brought up that it's wrong because parents lie to children by saying santa claus is real.

I suppose, then, that George Washington is banned from the Kingdom of God for having told the world's biggest lie when he said:
"I cannot tell a lie."

1975? That was the year I got baptized. Got in the ark just before the door was supposed to be shut.
Me too! I was baptized in '75, having been assured of the imminence of Armageddon by the elder who studied with me.
Unfortunately, once I was inside the ark, I realized I had booked passage aboard the Titanic.

I understand the ark was found in a spider hole with several AK47s, a few Uzis, and around $750,000 in gold shekels. The ark is said to have surrendered without a fight.

I always thought those ministerial servants looked sexy in their polyester leisure suits and platform shoes.
Suddenly, the powers that be cracked down on "grooming" and forced everyone to the local thrift stores (the ones that weren't demonized, anyway) to update our wardrobes to a more conservative level.
Geez....I miss the 70s!

Would your faith be challenged if....................................
by gumby inthey find life on mars?.
as most of us know....they are expecting communication from the spacecrafts they have sent to the red planet.
they are searching for water, organic matter, and signs of life.. how would your understanding of things change......if at all........if they find life there?.

I think many of you are mistaken a bit. I'll bet if living creatures were found there, it would set everone back in their seats and most would re-evaluate their current beliefs.
Why?? Someone had to dig those canals!!

All hell would break loose if....
by Nosferatu inall hell would break loose if the wts followed the footsteps of the mormons and made their own version of "the book of mormon".
imagine if they were to take what russell and rutherford wrote (or some other inspired jw) and use it like a bible!
could you imagine them trying to interpret their own history?

All hell would break loose if the WTS followed the footsteps of the Mormons and made their own version of "The Book of Mormon".
It would never happen. Being so notorious as purveyors of "new light", it would have to be rewritten every six weeks. The WTBTS couldn't afford to keep distributing the required revisions.

same tired subject...... Michael Jackson still a JW? *read this*
by ApagaLaLuz infrom msn news this morning:.
michael jackson's people are pooh-poohing reports that the embattled entertainer has joined the nation of islam.
"that's not true," his rep, stuart beckerman, tells the new york daily news, while a jackson family lawyer adds, "michael has always been a jehovah's witness.".

And sleeping with 14 year old children is alright, loving and caring is one of the most important things.
I can clearly recall my thoughts and feelings at the age of 14, even though that was 33 years ago. The very thought of an adult (any adult, including pop stars) wanting to sleep in the same bed with me would have been utterly revolting!
But im pretty sure Jesus Christ was chilling with 14 year old children.....
There are Biblical accounts of Jesus "chilling" with children, but that does not in any way justify allowing adults (most especially unrelated adults) sleeping in the same bed with them.
As regards MJ still being a JW, I would be interested to hear what J.R. Brown has to say on the subject.
