Dang it MMM, there you go with a pro right wing, heavy left, millennial, snowflake bashing comment in reply.

JW Net and Politics
by snare&racket inthis site was and remains instrumental in assisting people that want to leave the jw's.. there has been political discussion here for some time now, a good couple of years and it makes me feel a little uneasy.
i just opened up the site for the first time in some weeks, of the 10 posts being discussed, 4 were by the same poster, about politics, promoting their right wing beliefs.. this has been the trend for some time now, the same name behind a peppering of posts stirring the right v left of politics.. i remain forever grateful to the site and it's founders simon & angharad, i appreciate that simon shares some of these these political beliefs.
it would be a shame to see the site evolve from a place for jw freedom of thought and escape, to political squabbling, that the world is frankly tired of right now.. just to clarify, politics is my hobby, whilst my friends read the football scores, i'm reading polling data.

Are parables literal or not?
by RULES & REGULATIONS in“bible illustrations [parables] have more than one aspect.
they … often have a prophetic meaning and application.
moreover, some had a prophetic meaning for the time when they were spoken or shortly thereafter, and some were to have, in addition, a fulfillment in the distant future.” (insight on the scriptures (1988), wtbts, vol 1, pp.

Here is a chart that may explain it better than I.Why is this parable taken literal when others are not? How do they explain this one?

Is there a renewed iemphasis on the "go bag" in the past mont or so?
by nonjwspouse inmy soon to be ex moved out over a year ago.
he left most of his things here ( i guess he thinks of my house as his personal storage unit).
one thing he left was his survival backpack, i assume his "go bag".
-

Just a thought, prompted by personal experience.
If possible find the bag, then send a certified letter with signature required and return verification (costly I know but worth it in the long run), give him a reasonable time frame to make arrangements pick it up (30 days is common) from a designated place at a designated time. Then when that time passes if it has not been removed it becomes yours to do with as you wish.
That was my lawyers advice many years ago in a similar situation. YMMV

I received a letter!
by frozen2018 ina letter from a jw arrived the other day.
nothing remarkable.
i wondered why i was sent the letter?
-
FedUpJW
Yes, pretty well being sent to random people. That is if driving around town, listing down the streets and addresses, then making a "territory" and sending letters to every address is random.
Of course no effort made to find out if the person associated with that address is living or not, or if they still reside there or have moved, or if they may have divorced and remarried.
What could go wrong with that kind or "organization"?
I would guess that a large majority of the letters get returned as undeliverable, and the rest just get put in file 13.

What's up with the demonic avatar?
by Repent inwhy does the j-w forums have a demonic avatar as starting avatar?
why would a biblical religion even consider having demonic images included, in any of their content?.

So if a "white" person tries to act less white, what are they supposed to act like?
And if they are acting less white are they then going to be accused of racial appropriation? The perpetually aggrieved, perpetually offended, perpetually complaining groups really do need to grow up, put on their big boy and girl pants, and quit acting like spoiled children.

The JW cult creates pessimistic personalities in all the PIMI congregants is my opinion
by goingthruthemotions ini am not saying all jw congregants are pessimistic, but i would go as far to say all pimi jw congregants are pessimistic.. why do i say this, my wife is my measuring stick.
she has barely an optimistic bone in her being.
she will only focus on the bad parts of anything.

Agreed. Most negativity and pessimism I hear if from JW's.
Just listen to any of their "prayers". As they meander through 10 minutes of mostly incoherent thought, the main words a person will hear are: troubling times, uncertainty, depression, depressed, illness, sickness, difficulties, discouragement etc. And all the while begging Gee-HO'-Vuh to "help those who feel these things to know we LOVE them." And letting God know that they look forward to the end of this system very soon.
I asked one of those eldurrs one time, "Why, instead of asking God to let them know you "love" them, don't YOU LET THEM KNOW?" And, "When you pray for the end of this system, why not use different words that mean the exact same thing, and pray for God to kill 8 billion men, women, and children very soon?"

The Bible speaks of the "Unforgivable Sin" ? What is it ?
by smiddy3 indo any jehovah`s witnesses or ex jehovah`s witnesses even know what that sin is ?.
why is such a statement in the bible if its not identified what that sin is ?.
were the authors of the book just playing with peoples heads ?
-

Personal belief is that unforgivable sin is one for which you have no remorse, no guilt feeling, hence no repentance, no contrition.
And the only way to have any of those feelings is to crawl to the "loving" eldurrs, give them second-by-second description of your sin, then somehow manage to weep and gnash your teeth. Then after they boot your butt out of the congregation you need to continue to show up for the mental abuse for at least a year, and eat your shit sandwich with a smile, then IF they let you back in you must continue to crawl and kiss ass for another only god knows how long. If you do not do all those things you must have committed the "unforgivable sin".
I guess the governing body's Bible does not contain John 3: 16

Further thoughts on the new media Center project
by nowwhat? inthe organization figured out that a big building project gives the rank and file something to be engaged in and excited about.
it distracts them from their hamster wheel life.
and it buys them another 5 years until the next big thing.
