what makes the watch tower organization the authority of the scriptures?
the bible does not say any thing about a watch tower.
It's their divine right, handed down in a direct lineage from Paul to Pastor Russell to the present day Governing Body. The word 'Watchtower' has been lost over the years through mis-translations, along with Blessed are the cheesemakers and other such insights. Don't worry one day the watchtower will make the ancient scriptures obsolete and we'll need rely only on their literature for spritual inspiration.

iiz2cool - it was not my nickname (i really don't think i'm all that cool), but that of an old friend named mike prezelj.
i won't go into how he got the name, but it happened when we were all very high, and you had to be there to understand.
The name Sargon piqued my historical curiosity. He was an King of the city state af Agade (or Akkad) in ancient Sumeria. Why I chose his name for my handle was because the story of his birth is very similar to that of Moses' (besides all the other names I wanted were already taken). There is alot of the early bible borrowed from older legends and tales. Since Sargon pedates even Abraham, it shows that much of Hebrew/Christian mythology is drawn from earlier pagan religion.
If it's not pagan... it's crap!

twiddling thumbs at work here lol...........question................. is there still an "air" of mystique about the gb within the rank and file, you know the "they must be soooo spirtual" blah blah blah..................i can remember people being so in awe of them, to the extent of wanting to attend conventions that a member would be giving a talk, as though it meant something special, .............. or have the r & f realised that the decision making and day to day activities are generally done and conducted like any other board meeting i've attended in my work and in thousands of other companies.

The air of Mystique will always be there if their meetings are always clouded in a shroud of mystery. The only insight I've ever seen as to what goes on in their meetings is from Rays Franz's 'C of C'. Since the average R and F of the witnesses will never read this book (or any other like it) they'll always regard them as one step closer up the ladder to Jehovah than them.
i'm sure this must of happened at least once in 125 years, but what if .......... you are working for brother a in his cleaning business (that's seems to be all jw's do) or any other business, and you get df'd lets say for immoral conduct or apostacy, would you be fired ???
and what legal course would you have ???
the freedom of rights must include discrimination against/for religion, just because someone leaves a religion does that give the right to the owner of the business to fire a person.. any thoughts ????????.

You can make this guy pay. As a Canadian you have a right to go to ministry of Labour (it's provincial) and file a complaint for wrongful dismissal. You can't be canned on religious grounds. If he claimed your work was satisfactory and the only reason for your canning was to hire a pioneer; you have a strong case. Go for it!!

I think the best way to describe the devil is as a good work of fiction. Place him right up there with the boogeyman, jackalopes and the creature under the bed.
