I was always a 'good example' of the type of teen-ager parents didn't want their children to associate with. Seriously, I didn't form any friendships with people my age at the Kingdom Hall I was always nan outsider.

What do you say when the Mormons come by?
by MegaDude injust got through having a conversation with two mormons going door to door on this cold saturday here in fort worth, texas.
damn, they remind me so much of jehovah's witnesses it isn't even funny: the same zeal, the same conviction, the same confidence.
as a matter of fact, they seemed a lot more of all these things.

You've reminded me of a time when they did come by when I was half in the bag...
I invited them in and told them I've been giving alot of thought to religion lately. I said "hang on guys while I grab my coat, I'm coming with you. Let's go Knock some doors... " (by now these two are pretty stunned)
"Seriously guys, I'm converted lets go share our beleifs... I'm a bloody mormon now too."
You've never seen two mormon elders high-tail it as fast as these did, and they've never been back. it always amazes me with the mormons how they send out kids just out of high-school all with labels identifying them as elders.

The Trinity in the Old Testament
by hooberus in"and god said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
" genesis 1:26 .
note the plural "our image", "our likeness" yet from other verses it is clear that man was created in gods image and likeness (singular).. "so god created man in his own image, in the image of god created he him; male and female created he them.

When Queen Victoria said "We are not amused!":
Did that make her a trinity too?

always wondered...Is there a plan to be carried out when armegeddon does "supposedly" hit? Is it secret - only baptized JWs know it?
What if the ground starts to split and me and the kids start falling in, along with our pets and toys, do we watch in horror as the husband & father walks away with a goofy smile to join the bunny hop line to the KH?
Come-on Will, you know it won't come to that. Armageddon is just another fantasy/fairy-tale ranking up there with the brothers Grimm and Mother Goose. The only problem is... it ain't funny.
Sorry to hear about your hubby maybe one day he'll wake-up. hopefully it's before your marraige is destroyed.

Were You Afraid of Dying at Armageddon?
by minimus inone thing jehovah's witnesses do is they try to make their adherents feel afraid.
fear is a major reason to go to meetings, out in service, personal study, etc.
jws are always talking about the great tribulation and armageddon.

Thats what binds all witnesses to the WTS, fear of dying at Armageddon. As I studied more and met more of the so-called witnesses I acquired a fear of surviving armageddon. The thought of spending eternity with some of these people was just not too appealing.

WHAT VIEW SHOULD WE HAVE NOW THAT WE DONT SEE THINGS THE WTS WAY?
by fearnotruth22 ini thought that the wts had all of the answers, but now i dont know anything for sure, i am comnvinced though of the existence of god and that thers is more to life than what we are experiencing now.
but i am not going to get imvolved in the mechanics of worhiping god via religion joining them or to get enveloed in those believes .
i have a simple philosophy.

just a thought
by jukesjoker inthis is a question that keeps bugging me, if a non-jw were charming or good looking enough would the jw have a relationship with that non-jw?
or would the jw think it was a test and stick to his or her guns and still reject that person.

I don't feel sorry for anyone who marries a jw, they're master of their own destiny. Who I feel sorry for is the person whose spouse becomes a witness after several years of marriage.

How old were you when you left?
by somebodylovesme ini only know a handful of witnesses, but i do know several ex-witnesses.
all of them left in their late teens, which (as i've read here) is pretty common.
i know there are a lot of people here who left later in life.

Just a short trip for me...never baptised... in at 15, out at 17... joined the Canadian Armed forces on my 18th Birthday. Have spent the last 26 years doing (almost) everything they preached against.
Most of my family are witnesses.
