  my interest in this book was the watchtower bible and tract societys long held view that a dead witness is better than an alternative service witness .

  Any one wh has read 'the commandant of auschwitz' by rudolf hoess, may have noticed in the footnotes a reference to Eugene Kogon's book ' the theory and practice of hell'. It's taken me 5 months but i finally obtained a copy. I will let you all know what it says later on in the week.

  I've been studying.........

  i have been studying with the jw's for several years.

  they have been pressuring me to become one of them, but something seems to be holding me back, instinct maybe?

  i agree a lot of their teaching are good, and i'm sure are the truth but here are a few of the things that bother me: jw's use the scripture hebrews 10:25 not forsaking the gathering of yourselves together...... to justify their meetings.

  These guys aren't terrorists. They're not going to blow up your car if you walk. If you want to go... go. All they will do is try to talk you into returning, and stick a few magazines in your face. I even had one person write me a corny poem when I walked away.
  Sounds to me like you're more worried about what to do with your time and who to hang with if you sever your ties. Don't worry, it's a big world out here and there's a lot of interesting people who don't carry book bags.

  Can a body shop steal your car

  can a body shop refuse to return your vehicle for an unpaid bill, especially if the signed repair order does not authorize any billing without an estimate?.

  does this constitute stealing?

  how can they possibly refuse to return property that belongs to you?

  This might depend on what state or country you are in, but I'm pretty sure that up here they can keep your vehicle until your bill is paid. If you fail to pay your bill, your vehicle can be sold and any balance exceeding your bill must be returned to you.

  it's raining in southern ontario, so again i find myself with too much time on my hands.

  at one of the main intersections of my town there is a beautiful one-ton clock by birks.

  it's called the clock of the charging horsemen.

  It's raining in Southern Ontario, so again I find myself with too much time on my hands. At one of the main intersections of my town there is a beautiful one-ton clock by Birks. It's called the Clock of the Charging Horsemen. It was made in 1930 by the English Heraldic artist, Kruger Gray and was modelled upon a clock of the same name at Wells Cathedral in Somerset England. The horsemen used to tilt upon the quarter hour. It really is a great peice of art.
  Seeing this clock got me thinking about how many of the world's great works of art and peices of music were inspired by religion.
  Since I don't consider the WT pictures, or the kingdom melodies to be art; can anyone point out to me any significant contribution by the WTS, or an individual JW to the world of art?

  they can now control rats from implants using a laptop.

  for some reason, this worries me.

  is it because of my jw background, where control is not done though a computer, but through the pages of the watchtower and enforced on the local level by the congregation task masters (i.e., elders)?

  the september, 1971 watchtower studies were classics of phobic indoctrination,aimed at controlling the members access to external influence and information.. outside of the cult.. just about every external source of influence comes under attack and is warned against in the sept 1,1971 wt article:.

  The Org cracks down on the Apostle AK...

  been going to all the meetings lately and have hardly been shunned (they haven't made the announcement yet).. they've now made sure that i can't get magazines/literature anymore as they canceled my wt/awake order and they canceled literature that i had on order.

  they said (elders) that it's society policy.. should the apostle kick up a stink??.

  It's actually pretty easy to get most of these rags, if you really want them. There is normally a copy or two in my local laundromat, and there's always people handing them out at the local shopping mall. Just approach someone who doesn't know you. This way they're free.
