I always liked this Hasidic saying...."If a man carries his own lantern, he need not fear darkness."

This is just crazy...never before have I ever seen such cold weather here! School was cancelled again (also on Friday). It's freezing!! I love it!! My backyard rink!!
by outbutnotdown ini said it last year and i'll say it again.......... i just love my backyard rink.. .
i taught all of my children (4) how to skate on my backyard rink.
besides that, the life-lessons that they have learned extend beyond what words could express.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses Depend on Mental Illness?
by metatron inif you still go to meetings, take a good look around the kingdom hall next time you attend and think about what you are.
likely seeing.. many witnesses will sit in a half-awake mode - despite confronting a risk to life or limb in attending, because of bad weather or the sort.
of neighborhood the hall is located in.

Villagers furious with Christian Missionaries
by seawolf inapparently the missionaires were refusing to provide aid unless unless the people in the hindu village following their religion.
jubilant at seeing the relief trucks loaded with food, clothes and the much-needed medicines the villagers, many of who have not had a square meal in days, were shocked when the nuns asked them to convert before distributing biscuits and water.
i never thought i'd ever hear of this going on over there .

Sad indeed. How could anyone deny someone because they don't believe the same. How could you not only look someone in the eye and have the ultimatium fall from your lips but then try to drive away and live w/yourself? Just terrible.

I personally like wood heat better myself. Seems "warmer"..but definately makes more of a mess and is more work.

Was anyone an actor in the District Convention Dramas?
by Low-Key Lysmith ini was the "bad association" for the young hero of that riveting tale.
all i could think of was the drama ending, going to lunch and sucking down a couple of muff'n'eggs followed by a danish, washed down with some shasta, and a pudding cup.
i just prayed my mom would rashion me out enough food-tickets to handle the job.

LOL Nina! I laughed at Satan and the bees in cohoots together! I was in drama mid 80's..played a rebellious teen. Was up for second role a few years later but they found out I was living the part.

An almost uncontrollable anger
by chuckyy ini seem to have had a drastic personality change since i disassociated myself.
i have gone from a relatively calm human being to someone who is full of anger and sometimes what feels like an overwhelming rage because of shunning.
how do you deal with those emotions??

Incense..did we have the same therapist? lol..I could relate to so much you said! Scully is right..this is a normal process to go thru. Unforunately w/our background, many of us weren't properly taught how to deal w/anger let alone even allowed to feel it w/out having it associated w/guilt. For me it was many years of "stuffing feelings" that surfaced in uncontrollable rage. There was a time that I was terrible to deal with. Hot headed, sharp tongue, synical and sarcastic. I even got to the point of physical violence. Once I faced it head on, dealt w/the pain and found outlets to express it and feel it I could move on. Just remember, anger is only an emotion...learning how to effectively deal with it is the key. For many years I was alone w/being and ex dub. In fact, before this board I had never met anyone that was in my shoes! I always wondered where all the ex's went! Like they just fell off the face of the earth! Walking alone for so long w/out having anyone truely understand my pain was difficult on me. I did the best I could, but it wasn't until I met folks who could relate, who could offer support, suggestions and a kind hand did I progress further in my recovery process.
