Janice A the response I got when I questioned how those without internet and iPads was "Jehovah will look after them".
It really is a religion for westerners. No regard for how it affects the "entire brotherhood" as long as it works for them.
i asked the question on quora "how do jehovah's witnesses feel about the announcement that the public edition of the watchtower and awake!
magazine is being reduced to just 3 issues a year and the number of books, tracts, and online content are being discontinued?".

i remember some men getting appointed and wondering what the hell were they thinking???.
likewise when i came to someone being appointed a presiding overeer or whatever they are called now!
.
Certainly no holy spirit evident in the entire process and it surprised me how this alone does not wake people up.
please proof read the draft and comment any edits, corrects or changes of any kind needed.
also i need help with the cover page, what the title should be and plain text or whatnot, whatever would be more appealing to a jw to get them to open and read.. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0b2s6sigyikwhmglhqk5fcmxwzwc/view?usp=sharing.
There are some spelling errors on page 4 that I noticed and punctuation throughout needs checking.
basically its to get people to believe in the things they say and proclaim.
once people are in a believable mental state and acceptance, then the wts can control people's thoughts, emotions and actions through acts of repetitive indoctrination.. this all comes together by instilling the notion that their interpretation of the bible is the correct and accurate one.
add in the notion of following us you'll be more righteous in the eyes of god , thereby offering a better chance of survival at the soon to come armageddon.. everything connects in a cohesive self supporting way and subconsciously effects the thoughts and social behavior of all those being indoctrinated.. constantly pointing out the many evils of the outside secular world or other religions as "false" but how one can gain true happiness when inside this organization is their way to sustain devoted members.
This is what troubles me. For what purpose? I find myself wondering if the GB believe all they say and are also just misled? I can't get my head around why they want to control people they will never know or meet.
i have opened thesite to relate this part of my day.. yes the jw are such happy people.
yeah right... my wife has come home after an extended sunday meeting in a foul mood.
to be around her is like feeling your way through barbed wire.
Perhaps things being said and done at the meetings are waking her up and is not happy about it.
i found that the sale (placement) of books and magazines was always a challenge, but it was still attainable.
when the magazines switched from semi-monthly to monthly, magazine calls were automatically cut in half.
return visits that were made "just to say hi" were hugely awkward.. i never participated in the "please watch a video on my tablet" work, but i would imagine that the fail rate compared to magazine placement is massive.. reducing magazine frequency yet again would make me worked up inside.
Ask them a question at the cart and the response is "visit JW.org". They do not know the answers and they do not want to talk to you. The cart witnessing is a social catch up that can be counted on the report card.
when discussing the watchtowers financial problems, i've generally been of the opinion that they probably are not in a real financial crisis.
i've come to believe that money may be something of an issue, but its wrapped up in a much larger problem.
this came to me this morning when reading about the annual meeting.. i think the society's leadership is just plain out of ideas.
The fact is that the ones inside see all these changes as proof that Jehovah is looking after them.
Less books etc - excellent because we are so busy making ends meet at this time of the end, it is hard to keep up with all the reading not to mention how much room the books and mags take up at home.
Cart witnessing - loving provision for those who can't manage the walking anymore.
.....the truth was not the truth... ?
.
Russell said he was the FDS then he died. then they print that Jesus chose Watchtower in 1919 to be the FDS. How? What was the defining moment? If that isn't true then nothing else they say is true. THEN Jackson tells the ARC that it would seem presumptuous to say they are God's only spokesmen aka the FDS.
when i was a jw, i relished explaining my beliefs and why we had the truth!
lol.
todays witness has no clue , in my opinion..
No. Standard response is "go to JW.org". They actually think all the answers are there.
well, it's been a long time!
i first lurked here around 20 years ago and read huge amounts of threads which certainly helped when i was making my decision to leave the religion.
i was never baptised (resisted it!
Wow 20 years! I have been hoping my family would some how try to understand my thinking and then wake up too. It seems this is wishful thinking and not to be. I have been thinking about why they can't see through the BS and lies and it makes me angry. Then I remembered that they have been in the cult for more years than not and their whole world and social life revolves around it. They could not survive apart from it so I must keep my mouth shut and minimize their stress as they believe 100% that we are going to die.
