it looks like the wts finally put 2 and 2 together on the us branchs failing statistics over the past few years, particularly the years 97 - 01. what happened?.
in the latter part of 1996 cos instructed elders that congregation bookstudy conductors (soon to be officially called "congregation bookstudy overseers) should not initially ask congregation publishers for their field service time reports.
instead, each congregation should have a small box so that publishers could "shoulder their own responsibility by turning in time of their own accord," by voluntarily putting their report slip into this box.
I think there's probably a financial component to this tactic too. After all, if publishers conveniently "forget" to turn in their time every month, what's to say they aren't also "forgetting" to fork over the "donations" they are supposed to be collecting??

According to the WTS's 2001 Service Year Report (ending August, 2001), there were seventy-five (75!!) countries that reported a negative or zero increase!!

we had a chap in our local congregation known to everyone as jack.
he was an amiable helpful fellow until he paid a visit to the dentist.. he'd gone to a local dental surgery to have a wisdom tooth extracted and had been offered 3 choices of pain prevention.
out of a choice of novocaine locally, knock-out by injection or sleeping gas, he had opted for the sleeping gas.. as he began to come round after the extraction, jack suddenly bounded to his feet and started to wail in some deep anguish.

a friend of mine is involved in a bitter divorce, custody, visitation situation, for a close relative of hers.
she got a copy of the long, involved court report, and in that report, we are mentioned as being "postdates" of jw's, which means "that they talk bad about other witnesses, sort of like being the control of satan.

I cried when I heard the news that he had died back in September. I cried again when I had to tell my kids about it too. This was like within a week of 9-11 attacks, and my kids were already upset about what had been showing on TV for several days, then to hear that one of Canada's 'great ones' (as far as kids are concerned -- adults rated Mr Dressup as the most boring TV program in Canadian history, with The Beachcombers near the top of the list too) had passed away.... I think it was too much for all of us.

Regarding Health Care:
It sucks. It isn't free (ever check how much we Canucks have deducted on our pay-cheques for "income tax"?? about 50% of that goes to Health Care - or more accurately: Health Care Administrators) If we ran health care as a "business", it would be more cost-effective. Wayyyyyy too much waste happening, lots of long waits for diagnostic tests (Ottawa - the nation's capital city - has only 2 MRI scanners) which is absolutely deplorable.
anyway, i'll step off my soap box. I do love being a nurse, but seeing people being sent home 2 days after breast cancer surgery without home support afterward is ridiculous.

i am sending this letter via email to both my local hospital and to several doctors (different version) who have occasion to treat my immediate family.. i thought that i would post such on the db so that others here could also do the same.
however, i would ask that you do not completely duplicate the letter, in the event that the same hospital or same doctor receive this more than once, and discard it as a hoax.
please take the time to change some of the wording, and personalize it to your own circumstances.. i will post any received replies, and i ask that others please do the same.. *****************************************.

I saw a great idea for displaying single ornaments on a craft program. Use a pretty frame with the back removed or a grape vine wreath wrapped in coordinating ribbon... then hang the ornament by a ribbon in the center of the opening. You can display it year round that way if you want. If anyone makes a jw-ish derogatory comment, you can proudly say you it was a prize given to you, and like any other award, it deserves to be on display.
