How many of us check the obits for JW relatives' names?
by Scully ini have jw relatives who are getting on in years.
the relationship is very strained - very little communication, and frankly i'm getting exasperated being the only one making any effort to maintain it.. several years ago, when a non-jw relative passed away, it took several days before the custodian of the information (a jw) decided to send me an email to inform me - you read that correctly - i was informed, not over the phone, but via email.
a couple of years go by, and in the meantime, a jw sibling has a baby, and again i learn that i was left uninformed about the pregnancy and the birth until well after the fact.

I have JW relatives who are getting on in years. The relationship is very strained - very little communication, and frankly I'm getting exasperated being the only one making any effort to maintain it.
When I found out about the baby, I had a major coniption fit - I blasted my sibling and the relative who was the custodian of the information and called them both out for being unloving hypocrites. I said "You claim that Witnesses are more loving than any other religions on the planet - well I have news for you! What you've done in withholding that information is not loving at all - it's deliberately hurtful, it's deliberately mean, it's deliberately hateful, it's deliberately rude and deliberately ignorant. I don't know any Catholic, or Jew, or Muslim, or Hindu or even any pagan who would treat family members the way you treat me! How do you expect me to ever want to go back to meetings, if this is your definition of love?" [Score 1 for righteous indignation!]
They both apologized. But, it didn't really change things, because about a year later a never-baptized sibling got married - and while we were invited to the wedding and the reception, both of these JW relatives decided that they didn't want Mr Scully and me to attend the gift-opening party the next day, that was hosted by the sibling's new spouse's family (who were never JWs), and they made sure that we didn't even know about the party until after the fact. I heard about it from another never-JW relative who wrote to tell me how disappointed they were to hear that we "weren't able to make it" apparently because of my work schedule. So the JW relatives made up a lie to tell the non-JW relatives, to cover up the lie-by-omission that was perpetrated on Mr Scully and me. What fine examples of Christian love these jackoffs are!!
Anyway, now that I've got all that out of my system, and having read noni1974's thread about not being informed of her grandfather's death, I will admit that on occasion (maybe once every couple of months) I Google the obituaries to see if any of my relatives have died that I haven't been told about yet. So far, I haven't found anything, but I kind of dread that one day I might and it will unleash a lot of harsh words of righteous indignation from me.
Please tell me that I'm not the only one who does this!! lol

WT Nov 1, 2011 SEX - Ten Questions About Sex Answered
by St George of England in(11) what is the wts view on oral sex?.
what questions would you like answered?.

The Elder™ who performed our wedding ceremony met with us several weeks before the wedding - we thought it was to find out if there were any anecdotes about our courtship that he could work in to the talk, but in reality, he wanted to review some Scriptural™ Counsel™ with us in order to "keep the marriage bed clean and undefiled" (*that* was the scripture he read out loud to us!! )
Anyway, one of his bits of wisdom was to tell us that "oral sex is okay - there's nothing wrong with talking about sex with your spouse". I $h!t you not! The old guy didn't have a frikkin' clue.

R.I.P George
by fade_away inif it wasn't an extremely late (or extremely early) april fools joke, our friend no room for george seems to have departed......from this website.
apparently falling victim to a devastating love bomb that claimed his ability of thinking for himself and his freedom of heart, mind, body and soul.
i was wondering if maybe in the future he will be on the convention stage in front of a couple thousand people talking about his "experience".

My family just found out my grandfather died...6 months ago!
by noni1974 inyeah thatnks jw step grandmother bitch.
i can't believe that she would not call her step sons and let them know their father had passed away.
my father is a jw also and my little sister sees this woman at assemblies and she didn't bother to call anyone.

Oh, noni, there's just no excuse for this kind of behaviour. I'm so sorry.
It sounds like the step-grandmother has serious mental health issues, in addition to the paranoia that the WTS cultivates in people who are prone to these kinds of delusions. I know it's small consolation, but this woman can no longer control your grandfather. And you and the rest of your family can have a proper memorial service for him - the kind he deserved for his honourable service in the military. Maybe you can "adopt" a tree at a local arboretum or park in your grandfather's memory - something strong and true, like an oak tree. You'll all be able to visit together there, and share recollections of happier times.
My condolences.

If I direct somone to www.jw.org to download a magazine ...
by bats in the belfry in... and confirm off him/her that indeed it was downloaded, would that be considered a placement.
of literature (1 magazine) on their f/s report?.

I think someone would get suspicious if a Field Service Report™ was turned in that reported 1,500 magazines placed in 15 minutes or less.

Spain Branch's undercover operation during WYD(I)
by JHK inwhat is wyd?
: it is a great worldwide encounter with the pope which is celebrated every three years in a different country.
this time it was celebrated in madrid from august 16th to 21st, 2011.. spain branch, secretly, used 400 youth jehovah's witnesses --in blue jeans-- to preach the pilgrims.

I wasn't paying close attention to the actual content while compiling that translation. So now that I'm reading it again, I did notice a little bit of Theocratic War Strategy™ going on.
Notice the affirmative answer to the question "Have you already accepted Jesus?" as 'accepting Jesus' is a born-again concept. I have never heard a Catholic talk like that. Just a LOL thought here: what if the JW is preaching to a born-again undercover agent?? LMAO
Oh and the "being here with so many companion pilgrims" (as if they have the same goal as the other attendees), and referring to the Holy Spirit as "he" are other subtle bits of Theocratic War Strategy™.

I already did Page 1 on the other thread. Feel free to spend an hour or so on Babel Fish compiling the translation for Page 2.

Rough translation via Babel Fish:
Presentations that the captains provided to the participants
(Page 1)
Questions: “What does the JMJ do?”
“What have you learned?”
“Where you live is there much interest in religion?”
“I have heard that the theme of JMJ 2011 is to be ingrained in Christ. What does this mean?”
Situations: They approach us to discuss religion.
They ask us for information when arriving at a monument, museum, restaurant, etc.
On public transit or at a park
As tourists
On the way to an event
Examples:
They approach us to discuss religion.
Hello, how are you. It’s wonderful to be in Madrid. We have come to testify to Jesus.
Hello. Are all these people here for the JMJ?
Yes, they are. And it is incredible, as much Christian young people. Have you already accepted Jesus?
Yes. I am Christian, and trying to follow Christ’s example is not easy in these times.
Good. You must trust the power of the Holy Spirit.
He is wonderful. I am very excited to be here with so many companion pilgrims here. You feel that it is like one brotherhood and that you really matter to Jesus.
I agree. What have you learned at the JMJ?
I am enchanted to see young people with spiritual restlessness. Here is a gift of welcome from Madrid. Here is something that you can take home with you. I believe you will like it.
Really? Thanks!
It’s my pleasure. It’s nice to meet you. By the way, my name is Pablo (extend hand).
I’m Miguel. Hmmm. “Jesus … His birth, his life, his death” (reading the magazine)
It’s a good subject, would you agree? It is an impressive summary of Jesus’ life. It will surprise you.
It seems interesting.
It’s been great getting to know you Miguel. I have enjoyed chatting with you. All the best.
They ask us for directions to a site
Pardon me. Do you know where is the Casa Encendida?
Sure, it is in the Ronda de Valencia, I’m not sure of the number, but it’s about 900 metres from here. Look, I’ll show you on the map. Are you visiting here in Madrid?
Yes, I have come for the JMJ.
It seems like a great event. Okay, we are here in Plaza de Atocha, take the Ronda de Atocha, you follow by Ronda de Valencia and you’re there. By the way, my name is Daniel.
I am Manuel.
And how is it going at the JMJ?
Good, the subject is Ingrained and Built-up in Christ. We should have a Christian life and speak of God to others.
That is not easy nowadays, right?
It isn’t easy, but this is where the holy spirit comes in. We are celebrating the Christian spirit and testifying to our faith.
Is there much interest in religion where you live?
Not much, but events like this inspire young people (and others too). It is very edifying to see them united to do God’s will.
I am glad to meet somebody with a sincere interest in spiritual things. I share that interest. See here, I would like for you to accept a welcome gift to Madrid. I am sure that it help you in your desire to serve God.
Good… thanks. “The Bible and its Message”. Thanks!
I hope you enjoy La Casa Encendida.

JW Women Self-0Loathing - Get a Back Bone
by Band on the Run inan earlier thread about pants suits for women led me on this tangent.
women make up the majorty of witnesses.
they cannot be suppressed without their acquiescene.

BOTR:
The women are so eager to be walked over and spit on. Seeing my mom as doormat caused problems for me. I discussed this with my grandmother decades ago. We are smarter than the brothers. Not the same. Smarter. We know our WT better. JW men are low-earners. They aren't men's men. Jw women will kill each other over the JW male crumbs.
I believe women would have a different take on blood, children, and disfellowshipping. My gm was a feminist by temperament. She agreed with my points completely but said the brothers are the brothers.
How do women become so malleable to serve as door mats? What can be done to fix the situation? My present being would scare the living daylights out of male authroities. Christ saw that we were created with tenderness and a strong maternal instinct. If we listen to men too much, we are abrogating our created duty to protect children and maintain homes.
Part of the problem is the deeply entrenched belief that the bible (specifically the epistles attributed to Paul where gender issues are concerned) is the inerrant, infallible word of god. So the WTS capitalizes on the individual's desire to "do god's will" in the hopes of procuring blessings for so doing. The same is true with the way women are regarded - "the weaker vessel" "to be kept safe by childbearing" "should be submissive" and "render the marital due" to her husband in order to "keep the marriage bed without defilement", while at the same time "not being a busybody" or being concerned with "braiding of the hair", and should be careful to keep "her head covered" lest she be shorn. She should also "remain silent" and should not wear the garments of a man so as not to bring reproach on her father or husband.
The misogyny in the bible is stunning. The WTS (as well as other fundamentalist belief systems) take advantage of any natural tendencies a woman has to nurturing and serving others and pigeon-holes females into roles of servitude and martyr-like subservience. The attitudes have been pervasive for centuries - from the caveman bopping a female over the head with a club and carrying her off as his mate, to the male dominated professions like physicians, lawyers, accountants, business moguls, etc.
I've brought this up with regard to the blood transfusion issue several times before: clotting factors to treat haemophilia were the first ever blood fractions to be permitted for use by JWs. It just so happens that haemophilia is a clotting disorder that affects males almost exclusively. However, if you are a JW female, and you become pregnant, your risk for death as a result of the pregnancy or childbirth is over 60% greater than for non-JWs. A pregnancy-related medical emergency (such as postpartum haemorrhage or DIC - disseminated intravascular coagulation) can require several units of blood in order to save a woman's life, yet the WTS offers NOTHING to its female members - whom they consider to be "weaker vessels" - that will allow them to partake of life-saving treatments that will give them a chance to raise the child they have brought into the world. I've said this before too: If it were men whose lives were at risk from postpartum haemorrhage and DIC, rather than the lives of women, the WTS would change the policy on blood transfusion in a heartbeat. It's abundantly clear the disdain the WTS has for women and children by its continued ban on blood transfusions that would save JW women from dying in childbirth.
Aside from boycotting the WTS financially, I think a revolt by female JWs would scare the living $h!t out of the leadership of the WTS, and probably result in its demise entirely.
