  In a research context, those are the kinds of individuals whose opinions are taken with a grain of salt (and usually require potential conflict of interest disclosures), because their opinions are coloured by their biases.

  I know of a JW female who fled from an abusive JW Elder™ husband. She found a place to stay overnight with a male co-worker. The husband found out and had a couple of his buddies spy on the premises to see her coming and going. She was DFd on grounds of adultery, despite the co-worker and his same sex partner vouching for the fact that she did not engage in sexual misconduct while in their home.

  Oddly enough, the husband filed for divorce and remarried before the ink was dry on the divorce decree. The turn-around time between wife #1 and wife #2 was unseemly.

  what if a powerful government were to hatch a plot to exterminate jehovah's witnesses as an organization?.

  they ask this question at the bottom of page 23 of the july wt, and i thought the wording was kind of strange.

  the target is not jws "the people" (as in nazi germany) but the org alone.

  This fear-mongering is going to make JWs even more suspicious of The Superior Authorities™ than they already are. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised in coming years to see them making hints at 'taking matters into your own hands' to ensure the Organization™ is protected - from Apostates™, from the Disfellowshipped™ and from non-JW family members who refuse to become JWs.

  I would be extremely careful around any JW whom I knew to have firearms.

  on 4/6, the poster orphan annie posted about her experiences with jw's and her ill husband.

  unfortunately, her husband died monday, and she is feeling very sad.

  i just wanted to make others aware of it, so that we can encourage her and give her some much needed support during this rough time.. her original thread is here.

  my dad recently found out i wasn't coming to meetings and going out in field service.

  he found an excuse to get me alone in his car and just lit into me about it.

  he said that if i'm not going out in service that i'm not one of jehovah's witnesses and the brothers won't be able to trust me when the time comes to go undercover due to being attacked by the authorities.

  On a more positive note, the authorities won't come after you when the JWs are being "attacked by the authorities". Did you ask him if he'd like you to bring him a cake with a file in it when he's in prison?

  i have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.

  i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.

  maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.
