  Effect of family life (me, wife and young boy) if I am df / da and wife zealous jw

  i have a question and hope to hear some experiences of you who went or are going through this situation:.

  actually for several reasons (blood policy, disfellowshipping policy and some more) my conscience is telling me quite strongly, that i should not anymore be a part of that organization.. my wife and even elders know about my doubts (except blood policy).

  however i continue to join the meetings actually just to please my wife and to be together with our baby boy.

  You're probably not an atheist at this point, but I do highly recommend that you listen to the a podcast archived on The Thinking Atheist forum, called Secular Parenting, with Dale McGowan

  McGowan has written books about raising kids outside of religious construct, such as Parenting Beyond Belief, and Raising Freethinkers. He acknowledges in the podcast that when one parent leaves the JWs, it's one of the most extreme and difficult situations to be in as a parent.

  One question I have for you, is how do you plan to handle the 'blood thing' if it were to come up with your little boy? Could you allow your wife's JW beliefs to override your own, if a doctor told you that your son needed a blood transfusion?

  @scully -- sorry but the reason i asked is because i read some posts here about moral scandals in jws and i was shocked, they always seemed prudish, at least the ones i know of. and by misconduct i didn't mean only premarital sex. so "overly familiar interest in pre-marital sex"? i think that's a tad too specific now doesn't it? again, sorry if my question is too much for you. just don't answer if you don't want too. thanks!

  My point is this, since you seem to be a bit thick:

  You wouldn't walk up to random strangers and ask them what they do/did in the privacy of their bedrooms, and if you walked up to me on the street and asked me what I did in the privacy of my bedroom, I'd tell you to piss off. Just because you are some anonymous troll on the Internet doesn't mean that you have the right to ask people about their private business - it's none of YOUR business.

  Your question is certainly NOT "too much" for me. You, on the other hand, are asking quite a lot from the people who post here, imo. Clearly, you've never heard of "boundaries".

  You've made 3 whole posts on this forum in the two months since you joined. Personally, I don't feel that you've earned the right to have people share such intimate details of their lives. What private details about yourself are you prepared to divulge to us?

  Perhaps he's using hyperbole to show how embracing Islam would threaten the world's intellectual economy...

  If baptisms were this much fun, JW kids might actually start waiting until they turn 13 before taking the plunge.

  If they're lucky, they get a Happy Meal from McD's on the way home after the sessions on Saturday.

  i usually dismiss the "drinking the kool aid" scenarios that are posted from time to time, but the latest wt has another bit of fearmongering.

  the quote from page 20, para 17. elders who are reading this article can draw some useful conclusions from the account we have just considered: (1) the most practical step that we can take to prepare for the coming attack of the assyrian is that of strengthening our faith in god and helping our brothers to do the same.

  (2) when the assyrian attacks, the elders must be absolutely convinced that jehovah will deliver us.

  At that time, the lifesaving direction that we receive from Jehovah’s organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint. All of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not.

  I've been concerned about this kind of rhetoric for years.

  JWs have already been trained to treat us "as dead" for a long time. Mentally and emotionally, they can do it.

  The next step is to put weapons in their hands and get them to do it for real.

  And they call us "mentally diseased"...

  800-why-1914 helpline, Marilyn Zweifel

  for many years, since the mid 80s, marilyn zweifel manned the help-line.

  several months ago, the help-line stopped due to marilyn's serious health issues.

  marilyn was hospitalized a few weeks ago.. she has serious health issues and has suffered from 2 serious falls... she is now in a nursing home.

  Marilyn was the very first person I reached out to, via the 1-800-WHY-1914 help line, when I started having doubts about the JWs. She confirmed everything I was thinking, and then some.

  I'm sorry she's taken ill - I knew her health had been poor in recent years and hoped she'd be able to carry on. But, alas, the time comes for everyone to hang up their light sabre and return to the universe.

  Marilyn, if you ever get to read these messages, please know that I'll always remember you with love and gratitude. You helped me take the first step in my life as a former JW. I am forever in your debt. xo
