No, going out for breakfast is much more satisfying than going to worship services.
I can enjoy the architecture of a church without having to listen to a sermon. I can listen to Gregorian chant without the imposition of worship.
i'm in awe of sacred spaces.
love stained glass rose windows and gothic architecture.
i like coral music (who knew).

ok i walked out on austin powers because i thought it was so crude and god dishonoring.
since the fade i think it is very funny, still not a favorite but not the end of the world either.
any movies that were a big sin are nothing now?
Young Sherlock Holmes in 1985; during the human sacrifice scene (which obviously would have been thwarted). In my defense, I was pregnant at the time, and the thought made me nauseated. I should have just stepped out for some air, instead of ruining the movie for my hubby too.
Hey, talesin... Another World was the only soap opera I ever watched. It was my guilty pleasure Monday through Friday afternoons. My mom got me hooked on it. LOL
have you guys seen the meme on facebook going around about "tim tebow vs jason collins" comparing tebow "bashed for professing christ" and collins "praised for homosexuality" and then at the bottom the scripture isaiah 50:20: woe to those who call evil good and good evil?
i have had a couple friends of mine post that on their wall and it showed up on my wall.
i don't care what they believe however it just bothers me that they didn't think that i would find it offensive.
I'm not gay, but I find it offensive. It's like a bully who, having tormented his victims for things beyond their control, cries foul when they have consequences imposed on them for their behaviour.
Just more bullying, by bullies.

sorry for the delay, cofty - I was asking Iamallcool to provide evidence, not you.
Thanks for mentioning the Pink Ribbons, Inc movie, Hortensia. I'll be watching it this weekend.

JWs have no such qualms when they undermine the faith of the people they recruit into their cult. In fact, they do it so subtly that the person is barely aware of them chipping away at beliefs once held.
They start with the traveller/map analogy. Then they teach you that God has a name, just like you and I do, and that their religion kept that knowledge from them. They plant seeds of doubt and capitalize on those doubts.
Yes, it ought to be a heavy responsibility, because of the potential to create rifts in the very fibre of family units. They've turned wives against husbands, children against parents and grand parents, destroyed perfectly good friendships. They've separated children from grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. They've convinced people to sacrifice their lives in a medical emergency, to allow their parents, spouse and children to die for lack of blood transfusions.
They will destroy you if - once you drink the Kool-Aid -you try to leave. They'll turn your family against you; loyalty to the cult is #1.
Given all those basic facts, I don't feel the slightest bit of guilt in undermining anything the JWs teach - they've been doing this sort of things to families around the world for over 100 years. It's about time we used the knowledge and resources at our disposal to fight the cult-scourge.

Well, I would say that the JWs that bullied me into deciding they weren't Jesus' true disciples have as much "responsibility" for killing my faith as I would have if I actively tried to dissuade a JW from their belief.
While I don't actively try to dissuade JWs or anyone else from what they want to believe as The Truth™, I won't tolerate anyone trying to re-indoctrinate me or using religious seduction techniques on my children.

df parent is in hospital icu and surgeon wants to give blood.

my concern is that parent is taking strong stand based on outdated jw gb hlc guidelines.

my mom is a recent widow.
she, being a jw does not have means to support herself and does not seek higher education ( because that would take from her studies ).
so, she is living ( sponging off of ) me.
Send her to her Congregation™. Tell them you refuse to have her terrorizing your kids with their bullshit, and that until she knocks it off, they can keep her and support her in the manner to which she has become accustomed.
Or maybe you could call Social Services and have her removed from the home for psychologically abusing your children with her batshit crazy religion.

I think the analogy goes something like this:
Husband and wife are walking together when approached by an armed robber. The gunman demands all their valuables and says to the husband that he will shoot the wife if they don't comply. All they have is a small amount of cash and their wedding rings. They turn over their cash, but the husband hesitates when it comes to their rings - they are a symbol of their marriage, something they value dearly.
The story doesn't continue, except to ask the rhetorical question: With his wife's life on the line, why would he hesitate and place more value on a mere symbol of their marriage rather than on his wife, the other party in the marriage? The symbol in the form of wedding rings can be replaced, but the life of the person to whom he is married cannot be replaced.
