  Scriptures which link Yahweh to the Canaanite god El.

  today, i want to share some scriptures i have come across in my research which show the link between yahweh and the canaanite god el.

  el and other variations such as elyon, el shaddai and elohim appear many times in the bible.

  these are usually translated as god, most high, god almighty and so on.

  i found this amusing and ironic, but in a nutshell.

  stay on the yellow brick road, do as we say and want, and we promise you courage, a heart, a brain and a ticket back home (spirtual paradise now/ physical paradise soon/ resurrection guaranteed )... .

  don't ask too many questions or look behind the big curtain, just believe us or you'll fall apart and die... (research or study on your own/internet/ researching the governing body leads to weakness and disfellowshipping).

  my sarcasm will get me df'd one day.

  after being disgusted by the bs of the sunday meeting, i chatted with one inactive brother came back for that one meeting.

  i can't exactly remember how it came up, but he told me and a sister whose a close friend of mine that she shouldn't be so uptight, we're no longer under the mosaic law.

  that's a comment i heard from an elder i haven't seen in over a decade, yesterday.

  i mentioned it all on my other thread.

  i responded that i knew of no one that was crawling back to the meetings and gave him an incredulous hearty chuckle.

  i've been gone for a while doing other research, checking out other forums.. this forum is the first place i went when i very first started waking up and i just want to say thank you.

  from the bottom of my heart thank you.. you guys were so helpful, so kind and so supportive.

  you guys got me and were there for me when my whole world was crashing in on me.

  This forum saved my sanity. Sure, there are atheist and secular forums as well. Of course. But Jehovah's witnesses have a specific experience set that I needed to talk about and dispel. So I needed this... You guys have been awesome!

  JW Ideal candidates for Life Insurance?

  i am not a jehovah's witness, although i do respect your religion entirely.

  i am 27 years old, and live in minnesota.

  i have an older cousin, who's mother (not with my uncle -separated when my cousin was a baby) had been a witness, grew up in your word, and about 12 years ago she fully converted.

  Smiddy speaks an unfortunate observation about your average JWs. Not all, of course, and in fact there are many JWs who sell insurance products. I was a life agent myself for a time, though I never made a sale.

  At my work, I have practically all the insurance I can get through my employer. Investment and retirement savings too. It's a thing for me. My dad was on the phone with his insurance company and trying to save some money, and I will always remember his words: "I'm not gonna die any time soon." He canceled his life insurance policy. He was diagnosed with terminal adenocarcinoma shortly thereafter. After he died, my mom was just a year too young to collect his social security benefit, so I had to take care of her.

  Sad story is sad.

  well beards are still a no no!!!!!!.

  in a new letter from the branch/gb nut's, beards are not acceptable in the us branch area!!!!!!.

  You'd talk to the families, and have something to show them at their own convenience. If they're interested, they're interested, but it won't be held in any Kingdom Hall. JWs are told not conduct or solicit business there, even in the parking lot.

  I really want to get all of this in presentation form, and present it to someone at the Kingdom Hall here in town if it is something the community thinks is a just cause. I know there is stipulations about giving a presentation as a women, but maybe just the information would be helpful.
  

  Regardless of your gender, I will tell you that this commercial presentation isn't going to happen at a kingdom hall. Many here are also ex-JWs as well.
