OMG, Rebel8 I'm crying in laughter!
It doesn't matter WHAT you really look like. Now and forevermore, you will look like the woman in the ninth second of this video to me.
tortured by this talk where they are attempting to legitimize the division/ separation of family.. "sadly friends some will refuse to have courage in this matter.is it not in our best interests to abide the arrangements of the christian congregation as set by jehovah?
accept the torture stake involved in confessing union with christ.
then they cite the example of a brother who is thankful to his wife for persisting in preaching to him.. now they are talking about disfellowshipping, lay serious guilt trip .the brother talking about his baby sister getting disfellowshipped, how his father cried for the first time.

i am not sure if anyone cares, but the drama with my mother and me leaving the org continues.. apparently after todays craptower she goes on a spastic rant that because of my decision i am slowly killing her and my father.
the funny thing is i do not feel bad over this... i can't.. i have children and a wife of my own that i need to be happy for.
i love them - but as they get older and closer to death i realize that a new season is coming and imust care for my family the best way i can... the same way they thought they were doing.
Steve2 says
They don't need to belong to a strict religious group to perfect the art of emotional blackmail...
Do you know my non-JW mother? Heck, I wish I had an influence to blame. *sigh*
I'm sorry, Soso... I wish I had something better to offer but Steve is right. Mom's are very adept in these techniques... I think they get their licenses at their own children's birth. Grandmothers are certified professionals.
a great point was made by neverknew on another thread about certain doctrinal issues will cause a 'thinker' to wake up, but a 'feeler' will just shrug and carry on.
the feeler jw is often not stupid, but intellectually lazy.
they will often not bother to do research, whatever is said from the platform is fine.
Londo, we need you! I'm now in friend "love" with Leolaia! *grin*
In that post, I believe I was arguing against the theory of 607 not being a significant catalyst towards an awakening. Given my reading, the inconsistencies seemed to be a valuable contribution to many awakenings.
I'm beginning to wonder if being personally wronged or being up close and personal WITH the wrongs (in a position of authority or as the spouse of someone in a position of authority) could be the biggest catalyst for feelers in realizing WTS inconsistencies. Is this a possibility?
...and out of curiousity, was there any event that made you feel uncomfortable that preceded this research?

ah... okay... herein may lie the answer to my question where I asked which day is the worst. :)
Thanks, LosingIt!
i'm curious.
for those of you who attended, was there any day perceived by you as a greater "...wait, what did they just say?
" day or were they all the same?
I'm curious.

note the following comments and research taken from a concise dictionary of cults and religions:.
what [jehovah's witnesses] define as unity is actually, in effect, a rigid organizational structure and policy.
unity, as the bible teaches it, is a oneness of spirit and humility under the lordship of jesus christ.
This thread nails the conversations between the current conversations of a JW friend of mine and myself so thank you. :)
On more than one occasion, he has mentioned "unity" as a significant barometer of being a Christian which has puzzled me. I'm beginning to realize that he has been seeing the churches as being a collection of un-unified entities. I've explained that different denominations such as the Catholics, the Episcopalians, the Methodists and the JWs are unified withiin their own doctrine and that many are united in the same readings explored from week to week. Collectively though, the churches are unified in their belief in Christ and respect each other in that regard.
Being united leaves the possibility of FAILing united.
According to the Old Testament, how'd that work out for the Israelites?
so how will they solve it?.
having researched the whole 607bce thing, it's clear that it's utter nonsense.
for example, the house of egibi transaction records closes the door on any questions about the reign of kings of this time.
Not that many people have left from finding out Jerusalem didn't fall in 607,
Respectfully, I don't know that this is true. As a non-jw, I've researched elements that contribute to awakenings and this one seems to be spoken of quite a bit. On the Meyers Briggs scale, I'd say it contributes to the awakening of the "Thinkers" moreso than the "Feelers" but ANYone's awakening has the potential for another's awakening.
... most JWs aren't even aware there's a controversy.
Yup... but once they're made aware of it, research could potentially help them realize the inconsistencies of the WTS.
Wizzstick, you're really good at tapping into their intentionally confusing logic. Better be careful; they'll be asking you to write for them. *giggling*
In my limited exposure, it appears that they could just stop writing about 607 and 1914 for a period, then make a statement negating all previous statements with no acknowledgement of the former being a lie statement that was inaccurate. The great crowd can then rejoice in the "new LIEght."
so as of today, it is my one year anniversary of being out.
i simplified it so that most people who know nothing of jws can understand.
in addition to writing this as self therapy, i plan to use it to educate others in my life who need to know more about where i come from.
Excited to read more!
hi folks!.
someone told me that there is a rumor that soon the watchtower and awake's magazines will be only one (fusion).. anybody knows something concrete about that, or is only rumor instead?.
tj curioso.
This will let individuals use current technology to spread the word "secretly".
Maybe they can push to do it "invisibly."
