Trinitarians! Who is Jesus Christ's father the Holy Spirit or the Father?
by booker-t inthis is one question that trinitarians try to avoid because they have created a very embarrassing problem.
the bible is very clear when the angel tells mary that holy spirit will overshadow her and she will become pregnant.
the angel does not say the father will overshadow her but the holy spirit will and if the holy spirit is a person that would make him the father of jesus.

They are i- Pad Nutty Now
by Poztate inso many at my wife's hall have rushed to buy i-pads,androids etc for use in servicetm and at the hall.. most know little or nothing about how to use them but have joined the stampede to jw.org tm and the reinvention of the wtbts.. it prompted one elder at my wife's hall to have a seminar at his house to explain how to use them in service and at the hall.. how exciting.... one 80 year old pioneer woman will be there with her new toy.. as a distraction it seems to be working quite well.
no need to worry about 1914 or other issues.. they are all nuts and getting nuttier....

I "study" with two people who can't even pay attention to what I'm saying. As soon as I mention a verse as a possible contradiction to what they're saying, they are jwgoogling my reference. Once, I read a verse to them from my ESV. Before they committed to a response, I was asked, "what verse is that?" I told them I wasn't saying because they weren't listening to me.
BOY was there a raucous after that! They FLIPPED!

Doesn't the ARMAGEDDON teaching foster a MORBID view of the future?
by Black Man ineven when i was dyed-in-the-wool j-dub, i felt the armageddon teaching was one of the most morbid concepts to be hammered into the psyches of jws.
think about it, only jws would survive this catastrophe, which translates to roughly .001 percent of the population would survive while everyone else would die a horrible death.
that includes people who do good things and are good people, but are just not jws.

I was at a meeting just recently where the speaker stated that the birds were going to come and eat the dead people. He went on to say that it was one of Jehovah's loving provisions. People were smiling. As a non-jw, I was creeped out by the statement then blown away by how the statement was received.

So, what was the goal? What were you trying to show him? That Christ was not transformed into a spiritual body upon his return to Heaven?
I'm reading this scripture to mean that while he was on Earth, Christ as a fleshly human did not participate in corruption.
Were you arguing about whether Christ was God?

My Elderette is returning today to CONDUCT another conversation...
by Faithful Witness inshe has had 42 years of training and indoctrination.
i'm feeling sort of nervous, but also looking forward to it.
this will be our second scheduled session together, and we never did agree on a topic.. i'm assuming she will come with an agenda and another prepared presentation.

It's a hard pill to swallow given the results, but I'm realizing that the best way to know what the Witnesses are taught is to simply ask what do the churches teach, believe, practice or have symbols of and know that the WTS has figured out a way to - not just contradict it, but effectively demonize the matter. This realization is moving me to change to my approach.
Good job, Faithful!

Amazing Experience while in the Door to Door field service.. The work really is speeding up.
by objectivetruth ina pioneer sister who just returned from pioneer school, and her elder husband, who was previously in bethel are in service.. when they come to an enthusiastic house holder.
after discussing the glorious messianic kingdom that has been ruling since 1914,err 1919 the house holder says "ok this really is good news, what must i do to be saved??".
brother elder and sister pioneer elder both look at each other, and they know right away the best answer... sister pioneer reaches into her bag pulling out her km approved preaching tablet device (she waves it around a. bit, with the purpose of impressing the householder how advanced the wt is), she then says i want to show you our website, jw .

I think writing 1.00 is more honorable. You can hit that figure, right?
You can then appear pious by mentioning the strain your payment ...pledge ... resolved donation has become on your finances with the rest of the mumblers.

I was thinking that a congregation's elders could low-ball the figure so as to easily make the minimum payment resolved donation every month. Overages could then be added to a rainy day fund. Lo and behold, this is addressed within the "surplus funds" category. Rainy day funds are "unnecessary surplus."
My understanding has been adjusted. What a loving provision.

Mom is coming over tomorrow. What should I ask?
by Faithful Witness inmy mother is visiting us again tomorrow, only 5 weeks since her last visit.
things seem to be going pretty well with her, and the kids are enjoying having grandma back in our routine.
she is retiring at the end of may (age 65), so she promises that this is going to mean more time with family.

Studied with JW grandma for 3 years and went to meetings, I have now seen the light!
by yogosans14 inim new here and im 17, going to turn 18 in 1 week.
i studied with my gradma the bible teach book and went to meeting with her and other relatives (considering most my relatives are jw except my parents) and i believe in all of it because i never read the bible for myself.
after reading the gospels i started noticing contradictions in the jw doctrine like when jesus said many would dine with the patriachs in the kingdom of heaven (yet only 144,000 jws can) which would seem odd considering the fact he adressed this to more then the apostles.

Yogo... learn as much as you can about the Bible from as many perspectives as you can. You'll be just fine.
