Former Elders Please - Disbeliever recently married to a JW
by doasthouwilt ini recently married my best friend of 32 years.
she is a life-long jw and once an active pioneer, i am a 'worldly' person through-and-through, always will be.
we married because it was the only way we could find a way of staying together while giving her a path back to her religion ultimately, which she does not want to (or cannot) let go of.

I have become downright hostile towards the Elders. I find that is the best way to keep them away from me and not minding their own business.
I say stuff like when I see them.
" Hey, what is understanding of the faithful slave this week ?".
" Did a wizard have a vision ? "
" You guys preparing for the mockery of Christ ? ".
The only power they have is what you give them. Fuck em. Don't worry about them at all.

Does praying for “all those who are in positions of authority,” include the 'deep state' and all subsequent coverup's?
by was a new boy indefinition of deep state.
: an alleged secret network of especially nonelected government officials and sometimes private entities (as in the financial services and defense industries) operating extralegally to influence and enact government policy.
the power of the deep state comes from experience, knowledge, relationships, insight, craft, special skills, traditions, and shared values.

It is just stupid.

God Has Only One Visible Organization on Earth!
by Vanderhoven7 inwhy is it important to some that god only have one visible organization to represent him on earth?
why is it important to jehovah's witnesses that people recognize their organization as such?
what makes a witness more moral or righteous or save-worthy if they accept that it is his one and only organization?

The WTS changes the hinge point of the bible from the New Testament and the birth ,life and death, resurrection of Christ to 1914 and 1919. The bible then becomes secondary to the literature. It is kind of like all those shitty Star Wars movies when it would have been better to just quit at Return of the Jedi.
Any new twist on an old favourite usually involves making it into some kind of club.

I heard my wife on zoom yesterday because the weather was just awful. The topic was " you to make yourself righteous before Jehovah ".
It is like they have literally never read a bible. It is almost laughable if it wasn't such family destroying nonsense.

Why isn't this forum growing like reddit exjw??
by nowwhat? inadmittedly it 90% crap over there but still they are up to 80k in subscribers.
over here it's the same half dozen or so that posts something, including myself.
why is that?.

The forum now consists of anti-vaxxers, conspiracy theorists, Jehovah witnesses apologists, fake religious theologians and general MEGA dipshittory.
That is why the forum doesn't grow. Most people don't escape a cult to want to join another.

Memory and memorization
by Terry in3.1415926535807932384626433i used to be able to go to a hundred from memory.
my son and daughter can do so.age 75 has cheated me a bit in this regard.what sort of things have you memorized (whether useful or useless)?i can recite the entire rime of the ancient mariner to this day, btw.there are many so-called tricks for remembering things that can be easily learned and i've read all or most of those books.the amusing thing about such memory is this: nobody cares!
"why do you need to memorize when you can just use your iphone?sigh...i memorized the periodic table of elements one day at work.

As someone who plays guitar and rather poorly, I have no idea how some of these heavy acts can remember there solos and licks. It is crazy to me, especially when the singer gets a teleprompter.

Has anyone ever noticed that the meetings are literally designed to not remember anything that was talked about.
I read somewhere that humans only really learn in a class setting for about 45-60 minutes at time and usually the only things that are really remembered are the first and last five minutes. JW meetings are too long and too disorganized to really have any real academic value. I can't even begin to describe how pointless an assembly is.
I really believe they design the meeting structure to do that.

LoL
The only thing Jehovah Witnesses and ex members are conditioned to do is to believe some kind of special knowledge that been bestowed on them. You have to be a narcissistic half wit to get involved with the religion to begin with.
I didn't realize till the pandemic how widespread this phenomenon was. We literally have people were not even capable of passing high school biology and chemistry going on speaking tours on giving lectures about infectious diseases. It is laughable.

What decade or era in human history do you like the most or would have liked to live during?
by Fisherman inin the us, the 60s and 70s was a great time to be alive except for getting drafted if you wanted to be that age.
they were music years, greatest movies, fun, simpler and enjoyable days—also except for the d&ugs.

I would have loved living in the 1960s. My grandparents ( RIP) had a stack of National Geographics and Life magazines in the basement and I use to love reading them as a kid. Just like little time machines.
Vietnam War
Hendrix/ The Doors.
Hippies
Muscle Cars.
