I knew a guy who was a study about two years ago and was cornered by two elders. He was told he would have to lose the beard in order to. “ spiritually progress”. He eventually just stopped attending.

The Old Testament is littered with the phrase “the word of the lord appeared “ and the lord said. It is not entirely clear who or what is happening. This figure seems to be recognized as god yet separate from god.
The entire book of John is dedicated to this idea. In the beginning was the word, no one has seen giod, only the son.
Jehovah witness theology on the subject never really bothered me ( god created an angel who created the world and everything then gives it back to god. ) What bugs me is they no concept of how the New Testament is referring to the Old Testament and nothing is really clear outside of Jesus being the visible manifestation of god in the Old Testament.
It is not invented by false religion . It is just in the bible. It is completely understandable who Jesus is god in the flesh.

Christ is the Old Testament manifestation of the invisible omni present god. He is the creator that stepped into the creation and became the mediator back to himself. An advocate for sinful humanity.

a relative sent me yesterday's wt study article 46, how jehovah guarantees his promise of paradise.. it's been a long time since i read one of those articles but what really struck me about this one is that, considering it's discussing a fundamental jw belief, it only mentions jesus twice as an aside, and not at all as the central figure like the bible does.
it actually mentions satan far more in the same article!.

The story of Christianity is of a god who himself becoming that intermediary figure that advocates on our behalf ( sinful humanity ). The human one who sit on the empty throne besides god. That is why Jesus is kind of the center of the religion. It is also the reason it kind of becomes ambiguous who god is and Christ is.
What JWs believes really doesn't fit the bible story or what the big picture of scripture really is all about.

was he truly and wholly fully human.
did he exist in two states, part human part god.
The new testament is the realization that Jesus was the visible manifestion of YWHW in old testament. The fire in the burning bush, the cloud rider in the book of Daniel, the fire in the sky in the book of Exodus, the angel of the LORD, the word of the LORD.
The ambiguous use of the tetragrammaton in the new testament is by design, not corruption.
This failure to understand this basic concept is what makes the WTS special in a stupid way.

I went to pick my wife up today and see about half the men are now growing beards.
I thought it was funny.
It made them look like a bunch of half wit cultist who live their lives at the whims of a body of wizards.
An elder ( without a beard ) talked to me and I told him I think the beards make them look sloppy. He changed the subject right away like he didn't even hear what I just said to him.
