At the assembly this summer, there were people who were travelling 700 kms to attend. I am not too sure if it by choice. Some of the ubers do the whole summer tour, like they are following the Grateful dead . My province didn't even have a summer assembly this year.

peak was about 500. i remember that circuit, in years past, had attendances of 1000+.
it's been over a decade now since i last attended a jw convention.

I use to work in the account receivable in the construction industry and the first thing I learned from the company lawyer is if you couldn’t collect that bill, don’t waste your time. The legal process takes so much time and money and most importantly emotion that it isn’t worth it.
The idea of suing the Russian government is nothing but a dog and pony show and a terrible waste of your donations. If you wanna do something useful, why don’t you try and help some Russian or Ukrainian refugees out? I have no respect for nonsense like this.

we had a couple younger half wits in the cong in field service yesterday.
both are trying to climb the ladder with the entire elder body ready to die in the next 10 years.. i just of thought it was a dick move to go door to door about the merits of fighting for freedom or not fighting on such a sacred day.

I do understand they don’t help anybody but their own and they’re real dicks about it but the whole Ukraine war surely there must be all kinds of Jehovah witness refugees that need their help. The way they don’t address this issue. It’s so absolutely bizarre.

All the horrible things you were mentioning are more to do with the erosion of democracy, then gun rights. We really need to lose the fantasy that’s civilians need military style assault rifles to protect them from cartels or invading North Koreans or some shit like that. The more likely outcome is some lunatic walks into a school or Walmart and starts blasting people. I have plenty of shotguns and rifles, but I don’t need a gun that could kill dozens of people in a matter of seconds.

Any information about a special talk on Marriage in December 2024

wife was not available so they asked me to tell her about a special talk on marriage next week.
any outlines available for this ‘special talk’ or could this potentially be a local issue?.

I have a friend who pretends he is a PIMI but is really only hitting about 50% on the meeting front. He has no problem missing a CO visit or even an assembly. He hangs out with his brother who is a Hell's Angel. He has this whole weird nerd life and circle of friends outside of the KH. He has like role playing games night at this house and goes to comic con and stuff. This is all happening in his 40s.
Well, he ended up getting a girl pregnant out of wedlock. He was booted and went though all the Bullshit to get back in. While, actually he didn't have to do much anything other than say sorry. I think they were just hoping a young family would be attending the hall. FYI, he married the girl.
The elders made no effort to contact the girl or try and study with her.
My story is I stopped attending at 16 and met my wife at 31. Once they found out who I was, there was nothing but endless harassment to both of us. They would literally call me for a study and call her an hour later for a back room meeting. We eventually just eloped and told them to fuck right off. Sadly she went back.
The way my wife was treated and my friend was treated was just day and night. It still pisses me off to think about it.

We have a group of single ones in our hall ranging the age of 9 to 50. It is kind of creepy how they all hang out together. One of them has some serious mental health issues and is 48 and never worked a day in his life.
Lately this 24 year male who is a real social climber has been hanging with this 15 year old girl who is turning into a real pretty thing. Her parents think he is great because he is going to be an elder by 30 ( by default ).

About 10 years ago, I knew a JW women who committed suicide. She was about 45, unmarried, no children and came from a large JW family. She was a PIMI till the end.
I often wonder about the toll on the single ones in the cong, especially with there being more women than men. The elders also seem a little more liberal with men finding non-JW mates but if you are a women, they are right in your business.
