well we got a little visit from a ministerial servant that lives up the road from us.
he is kind of a strange fellow, older man kind of rambles on a lot, not the brightest star in the sky.
he came by to see how we were, to show his concern for my family because we have missed alot of meetings lately and we missed (god forbid) the special talk.
That's why I love dogs, they are great judges of character!! I like they answers you gave him, I may have to use them if I get a call or visit. I'm trying to fade also....so far so good.

what do you do when you see people holding the cardboard signs?
sunday afternoon i was driving to a day spa in seattle for a pedicure.
i was sitting at a red light and there was an older man holding a cardboard sign.
I watched a news program one time where they approached those guys that had the signs that say "Will work for food". And all but one came up with some excuse as to why he couldn't actually "work". They just figured that if they pretended that they would be willing to work that people would just hand over the cash.

i'm just curious...if you had the opportunity, who on this board would you like to meet if given the chance (or could without getting "in trouble"!)?
(could be serious, could be fun...) i for one, am just sooo curious to meet the cat himself... just to find out if he's much different in person than in his online persona!
...and maybe pet him a few times in the process...
There are way too many to name each and every one that I would like to meet. Plus, my hubby is against me meeting anyone from this board. Does anyone else have this problem?

it started about 2 years ago, but its picking up.
i keep catching women looking at me with that look, that look i'm used to only getting from other guys.. this is making me tense, yet in some ways jolly.. i'm not sure what the proper facial expression is to give in return.. i cannot figure out why its happening to me now.
is it the greying beard, the balding head, the bulging ---, oh, right, it can't be that.. please explain this extraordinary phenomenon.. joel
Joel,
I've been having the exact same problem!!! And I'm a heterosexual, married woman!! But I have been becoming more and more of a chick magnet the older I get. Maybe it's because I've always been somewhat of a tomboy??? I do have to admit I'm very curious at times!!

well it had to happen.. the twelve year old told a whopper.. however, she didn't lie to us.
nope, she lied to my parents.. some weeks back she innocently told them she had been to see lord of the rings twice and you can guess their reaction:.
demons.
Lisa,
Can your daughter give my daughter some pointers? When my 8 yr old daughter was talking to my mother, she told her that we were going to an Easter Egg Hunt. Yikes!!!! When I got on the phone she didn't mention it at all. I brought it up and she said she didn't want to talk about it!! Wow!!

with controversy surrounding a soon-to-be-published book entitled harmful to minors: the perils of protecting children from sex ( http://more.abcnews.go.com/sections/us/dailynews/childsex_book020405.html), it is apparent that attitudes may indeed be changing in our society in regard to sex among youths.
instead of being totally avoided, they may be given encouragement to practice sex (obviously within safe limits) with other youths or even adults.
some cultures already encourage something like this.. socially, it seemed that boys were given subtle encouragement to "score", while girls were always viewed as the innocent victims to be protected from such lustful young men.
Sixofnine:
I totally agree with your post. I feel the same way regarding my kids.
Andee:
I have the same history as you. I waited until I was 19 and my first time was with my highschool sweetheart. After we had dated for 2 years.
I have found among my adult friends that the ones with the most sexual hangups are the ones who were either molested when they were children or started having sex at a young age.
What I tell my children is that if you aren't mature or old enough to handle adult consequences then you shouldn't be making adult decisions.
A friend of mine was discussing with her son how hurt and uncomfortable it was to see his ex-girlfriend. She then said, now imagine that she has your child. He of course said that would be horrible. She said, unless you are willing to take that chance, then you should make the conscious choice now to wait until you are older and more mature. I think that is a good idea to have our children think about the "what ifs" of life. And have them reach that conclusion on their own, instead of force feeding them our morals.
I remember when I was dating my husband we would always go off without a chaperone and my mom told me that I was going to have a "slutty marriage". Real nice huh?
