Since I asked the original question a few minutes ago, I have been wondering if comforter is really an exJW posing as one to foment argument, or issues, or otherwise bring out truths. Or, maybe he really is a JW who doesn't care any longer that he is violating the most sacred prohibition by speaking with the rebellious followers of Satan...uhh..that would be us.

by comforter injehovah's witnesses proclaim the good news of the kingdom under the power of god's holy spirit.
jesus commanded his followers to preach in the most distant parts of the earth and promised them that the spirit of god would guide them in this life-saving work (acts 1:8).. without the spirit of god, one cannot continue preaching about jesus and god's kingdom (matthew 24:14).
one surely will not have god's spirit if one preaches a negative message (against jehovah's servants) from door to door.

"The teacher is tired of correcting error for today?" This all makes me so sad. The banter, the uselessness. I am new here, and I am sure this has been asked of you time and again, but apostates are here. As a faithful JW, you are not to associate on any level with apostates. Do you have an extra helping of HS protection? Do you count time while here? Perhaps you are one of the housebound who pioneers by letter-writing, and you prefer this forum? You spout all the scriptural wisdom as the society spews it, but what about the casting of pearls before swine like us? As I said, it all makes me so sad. Oh, and as for the qoute, or near qoute, at the beginning of my post, how haughty can a JW be!!! My goodness! Actually, I KNOW how haughty a JW can be. I rarely came in contact with a truly humble one, sad to say, self included.

i often used to hide it because of the stigma attacthed to it.. was anyone actually proud to be one?

Goodness, no. Not embarrassed...proud to be among the chosen few God had chosen to live on Earth for all eternity. I bought into the whole mess, completely...100%..,pioneered...the whole route. Now, as I mentioned in my earlier post this morning, the bubble is burst. I no longer have ALL the answers, and upon leaving the org, I have had to become humble, realizing, I am NOT among a chosen few. NOW, I am embarrassed!

It's a difficult thing, once having been a member of the elite, the chosen few, hand-picked by the almighty never to die, to wake up, suddenly or otherwise to the realization that all was a lie. Of course, when we were JWs, we had a purpose in life, and that purpose, along with life itself was a forever kind of thing. We were to live forever, and our existance was well-defined for us. We had ALL the answers. It doesn't exist anymore, and although I have been out for a few years, I am only recently grappling with this sense of purposelessness to everything. I will begin my JR year in college (at age 45, since that was denied me in my former existence) , but I find with this summer break, not relaxation, but a void and emptiness that is hard to deal with. Thanks to the input of the JWs, I am quite sure I will not be able to trust, or believe in anything anymore. Have any of you had to deal with similar thoughts and feelings? Please tell me how you got through.

Crawdad, I've read much about the dwindling numbers among the ranks of JWs...is this substantiated? I haven't read, or had access to a yearbook in a number of years, what are the figures...numbers coming in vs. numbers leaving, and are they just walking out, or being pushed out via DFing?
