So , the WTBTS boasts that their Supreme Court Victories have greatly assured Freedom of Religion and Freedom of Speech for the American people. Sounds like the WT God is a God of free religion and free speech. Now consider the fact that the WTBTS denies freedom of religion and freedom of speech within their own organization. Sounds like their God is not a God of free religion and free speech. What's going on here? Is Jehovah for the First Ammendment rights or against them. If he's for them then he's not with the WTBTS because they are against them, and if he's against these rights then his organization is being manipulated , by Satan, the apparent author of the First Ammendment. So is Jehovah giving them the Supreme Court victories or is Satan ? What are they boasting about?

Does God Really Care?
by Undecided ini'm wondering about god lately.
is he really in touch with the earth at all?
how much trouble would it be for him to bring a rain in colorado to stop the fires and save the houses of those people?

Undecided, being made in the image of God means that he perceives himself through man's consciousness ie you are both the seer and the seen. It cannot be any other way because God is all.

Your View On Capital Punishment
by Dutchie inwe all know the bible's view on capital punishment.
in fact, in the 1969 edition of aid to bible understanding, the author notes the following: .
"the value of life is considered so sacred by god that the blood of a murdered person is viewed by him as defiling the earth and such defilement can be cleansed only by shedding the blood of the murdered.

It is natural to kill for any number of reasons including vengence, justice, mercy, selfdefense, insanity, profit , jealousy, hatred, example etc. but what is unnatural is to kill without knowing what death is. If death were understood how would that knowledge affect the killer , society and opinions?

CNN Talk Back Live
by carlitos71 ini was watching cnn yesterday when they were talking about the supreme court ruling.
there was a "counsel" that was representing the jw's and he was explaining what the ruling meant for the borg and all citizens of this country.
then he went on saying something that just blows my mind and has always bothered me when i used to be an active dub.

Let us not forget that they don't really believe in either of the two freedoms and if they had it their way they would deny those freedoms to every one everywhere. This is not an overstatement.

"What is your ultimate goal?"
by SEAKEN2001 ini follow the threads on legal questions with interest because somewhere inside me is this voice yelling at me to get back at those bastards that lied to me and my family and all the other good people i have come to know here and abroad.
i too carry a lot of anger with me from my experience as a witness.
however, another poster raised the question "what is your ultimate goal?

Sean, the dynamics are these: ( 1) Your self esteem is under attack by relatives, associates, and your wife , whom you love. (2) Your relationship with these people is characterized by burgeoning estrangement. (3) You are a good person. (4) Naturally, you have fear. The estrangement is beyond your control and it is breeding a distrust that can not have a happy ending. The way through this is to focus on (1) (3) and (4). It is difficult to not be reactionary but it will help if you keep the dynamics in mind and make use of the help offered to you especially from those who understand these dynamics and who know you personaly.

Jesus and Buddha
by Bhagavad inthere's a possibility that jesus went to india and was influenced by hinduism/buddhism during the "lost years" between his ages of 12 and 30. see the site http://www.atributetohinduism.com/hinduisms_influence.htm.
fascinating info to review.
if it's worth considering, then we might ask: .

There is much confusion in this thread because the experience of Buddha is not understood . He was not recommending anything more than that you find out your true nature. That voice you hear is your desperate ego trying to be immortal and reasoning on these things. That's why this is so difficult. The very thing doing the seeking must cease to exist. When that happens your true nature comes forward with an intelligence beyond human reasoning. Once you experience your true nature you will smile with Buddha, you will not worship or berate him. Was Jesus a Buddha (enlightened one) ? One must conclude that he was because the experience of our true nature is real. It is unlikely that he was denying or avoiding such an obvious truth that is verifiable by every human that ever lived and , to add , that it is an experience so profound that it rivals , if not defeats , any conception ever expressed of God or Heaven , including those exhalted interpretations put on Christ"s words by the ecclesiastical traditions of this world. This truth is a threat to this world because its realization ends the manipulation of the individual. He is liberated and can resist all that is contradictory to his true nature. There is no fear of death because there is only one true nature and it is immortal. This is what is realized!

The clue to the Buddhist influence in the Bible is in the contradictions of the teachings in the Greek Scriptures. For example , the teaching "..do not be anxious over anything" is in harmony with Buddhist objectives however it is contradicted by the anxiety teachings that ..."the end is near" etc. This contrast results from the Hebrew Messianic influence. In Jehovah's Witnesses this contrast causes enormous anxiety because of the "push " to do the preaching work and meet ,so called, spiritual objectives. The result ,at best, is an anxious Buddhist and at worst an outwardly calm but anxious Jehovah"s Witness. Why does this contradiction exist? Because of how the writings were compiled and edited and because of the teachings that the writings do not contradict themselves and are infallible. Those who follow the Bible in this manner are like people at a restaurant who eat the menu instead of the food.

At the turn of the century (possibly1905) a paper was proudly circulating among the associates of the WTBTS whereby one signed an oath promising one would not be in a room alone with a member of the opposite sex unless the door was left wide open. Signing the oath became a sign of "spirituality" and it was common to be asked "did you sign the oath ".
