Since MJ is complete, not something used in combination with something else to make a 'drug'; and since it's something that is definitely 'salable', I don't think it fits this definition of 'drug'.

One more thought on this and an important one...Salvation (Christ) has authority OVER destruction (Abaddon). They are not equal or the same. His death and resurrection was for the purpose of gaining this authority.

They claimed that Jesus is Abaddon because Abaddon was given the 'key of the pit of the abyss' and that Jesus has that key. They said that the message of the kingdom is what the locusts use to 'torment' those who refuse to submit to Christ's rulership.

My thoughts on this are that 'destruction' by it's nature has the key to the pit of 'destruction' and that the message that Christ's followers have is not one that 'torments' people but is 'good news'. It also states in revelation 9 that the 'locusts' are told not to harm 'those sealed by God'. How can they claim to be 'those sealed by God' AND the 'locusts'?

Locusts are very destructive, the opposite of the message of salvation. I think that the WTS in its eagerness to have all things refer to them, and in their desire for 'revenge' against those who oppose them, really jumped ship on this one. It's no wonder they erased it/revised it in recent times. Just more double think, double talk. And more rewriting of history ala 'big brother' and 1984.

Worried about my Dad in hospital :(

we visited angharad's parents at the weekend and got a call on sunday night from her sister who'd been called by my sister as they hadn't been able to contact us .... the message was not a happy one:.

my dad has had a heart attack and was in intensive care in hospital.. it was a while before i managed to speak to anyone over there with people probably out but i eventually spoke to his wife who says he's doing ok and has now been moved to the main ward but is being kept in as you would expect.

he may have to be moved to calgary for some investigation / tests.. he had heart surgery about 15 years ago and i think 4 of his 5 bypasses have failed so he has to take quite a bit of medicine for pain and stuff.

Their was a watchtower article written sometime in the 50's that said that Jesus is the angel Abaddon and that the JW's are the locusts. It also used to be in one of the reference books, but I don't remember which one. I'm positive of it because in the mid 80's there was a talk on this very subject in the TMS. I was intriqued because I had never heard of Jesus being referred to as this angel and always thought Abaddon represented Satan or another demonic force.

Anyway, I looked up the article referred to in the talk in my bound volumes and then went to the public library to do research to see what other religions thought about this. All of them that I found believed Abaddon to be a Satanic force. I LEFT JW's because of this issue and because of the false teaching regarding Job's kids and birthdays.

The implications of the Abaddon thing were just too much for me to be able to continue telling others that they should join the org and for me to continue serving these 'locusts'.

I don't know about that, but I know that they teach that, besides being the archangel Michael, Christ (salvation) is also the fallen angel Abaddon (the destroyer). That sounds like the anti Christ to me.

did god create man or did man create god?.

the book of myths says that god created man in his image yet men come in such a variety of colours and intelects.. how can they all be in his image.

please don't give me the witchtower recorded message to counter this argument i have heard it too many times before.

When God was alone, before He created His Name/Word, was He 'God'? Doesn't God need a creation that knows Him for who He is in order to be 'God'? I don't think that man created God, but God wouldn't be 'God' without His creation, would He?

i'd like to share a story of a friend of mine with the hopes that you can provide some advice or insight.

he knows i'm a part of this board and understands how much support/encouragement/advice i get here.

Hi Andi, If I could add my 2...I don't see anything wrong with pot and I would never tell anyone over the age of 21 that they shouldn't smoke it if they want to. Of course, moderation is the key, but I digress...

I agree with COMF to a point. Kammy should be working her program and avoiding all mind altering substances. She also should have put any emotional entanglements on hold for at least a year. The fact that she's smoking doesn't neccesarily mean that she'll go back to chemical dependency (I can say that from experience) but she obviously hasn't been coming clean with herself. If she was, she wouldn't be sneaking around and 'acting' like an addict.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that, with addiction, comes an assortment of attitudes and behaviors that are an integral part of the addiction. It doesn't seem as if she's being very diligent about changing those behaviors, which may be an indicator that she's not quite there.

Honesty is the most important ingredient to any relationship, OR major life changes that people make in their lives. It sounds like she hasn't been totally honest in either of these areas.
