Hello Lee , nice to see you back .

growing up around the faith, whenever i heard something taught, i'd always think there is a different way of looking at that, probably better.. we always hear "this good news of the kingdom will be preached... " matt 24:14.. so i think, is there more to it than preaching the kingdom?.
luke 17:21 the kjv and asv says "neither shall they say, lo here!
or, lo there!
Smiddy re the Good News I'm not sure how you can categorically say it never will be preached in all the Earth or that there are billions of people who have never heard it now.
The Gospel has been preached all across Europe, Africa, the Americas, the Middle and Far East . There are Christians in all those places .

Hi , I'm Jan from England. A slight oddity here. Never a JW but a life long Anglican ( C of E ) .
I stumbled across this sight a good few years ago while researching in the WT after several weird conversations with JWs . I wanted to learn more about counter witnessing. I've learnt a lot more than l expected , about all sorts of things!! .

it's always unjustifiable for a country to attack another country without having first been attacked itself.. the nuremberg trials at the end of wwii made this clear.. more vividly too: following orders as a patriotic duty is never secondary to the pangs of your personal conscience.. .
worst of all, hypocrisy destroys credibility when you.
criticize other countries for doing what you have done.. .
Terry , you say that conscience comes before duty ( orders)
It should however we only apply that to other countries. If American soldiers had defied orders say in Korea or Vietnam they would be labelled traitors and shot . If British soldiers had defied orders in the Falklands same thing .
Conscience only comes into play when it's other folks troops that we are talking about.

awake 73 3/23 p.12 "the spirit of compatition between players can lead to unpleasant circumstances...in some homes tensions linger longer then checkmate.
chess is a game of war a play substitute for the art of war...danger of stirring up compatiton and hostility to one another something the bible warns christians to avoid.
what effect does playing chess have on you is it wholesome?
You couldn't make this stuff up !

pat roberston,92, comes out of his million dollar mansion ( which his loyal followers paid for ) to continue his doomsday prediction.
pat needs to make one last appearance to show his followers he was right all along.
after all his failed predictions on his ''700 club,'' pat needs to show his followers that this ''doomsday prediction'' is a bible prophecy.
I'm not saying that religious freedom and choice is bad, it's not .
The UK has religious choice and freedom, we just tend to choose to exercise that freedom in different ways to the US .
Most churches over here do work to help people. Food banks are common , groups for lonely people like lunch clubs are common. Plus lots of other initiatives. You don't have to be a member of the churches to make use of the help .
Mainstream churches in the US like Catholic churches probably do much the same.

TV evangelists aren't big or even small in the UK .
Religion generally in the US seems very different in America. I must admit that we British Christians do tend to roll our eyes and shake our heads at some of the antics . Which , paradoxically, is maybe not very Christian of us .
I think that Creflo Dollar is someone that maybe people are aware of . I believe that he did come over here a while back . However no one took any notice of him
I would say , to be fair to them , that UK JWs probably aren't as rabid as their US counterparts in general.

i'm going to take a wild stab in the dark here and guess that the watchtower is having a wonderful time over the whole ukraine situation.
is the whole " end of times " thing being pushed again to bring dissidents back into line .
they must be seeing as a gift from above .

watchtower 1964 page 352 "....before god cursed it the snake had legs that elevated it off the ground.
god transformed its body so that it ceased to have legs and could move on its belly.".
book "gods eternal purpose"1974 - "god did not put a curse on the whole serpent family...it had only been victimised by satan...".
So most Christians don't necessarily take the creation story literally.
However this discussion intrigued me and a very little digging produced this among other articles. Another poster said much the same .
