  The Flaklands belong to Uruguay!

  This is kind of hilarious. Uruguay is like the only place to NOT have a claim to the islands.

  Look it seems like it should be Argentinas, but the UK has been the administration there since the 30's, and the best Argentina can do is say they "inherited" it from Spain in the early 1800's. Spain and the UK both claimed it.....and left. It was uninhabited when Europeans went there a few hundred years ago. The 1982 invasion was from a ridiculous leader in Argentina who was trying to deflect from the economic condition of the country.

  If its one thing Argentina has (besides a beautiful country), its national pride in spades. So the "war" did its job, just under a thousand people died, and it still belongs to the UK. The biggest point of all? The resident WANT it to remain British.

  So here is what should happen. Argentina and UK find a way to share in investment and distribution of the resouces, and Britain doesn't expand drilling into Argentinas maritime claims locally out of respect.

  Don't the sheep here outnumber the people 200 to 1?

  Yeah I am pretty well known. Its why i am still careful with what I say here. Southern Cali has alot of JW's, and alot of doubters.

  But I am slowly walking backwards out the door, and so far so good.

  My wife and I were a typical "power couple". Kind of hard to not feel a little bit of shame.

  i was just googling jehovas and this appears in the list at wikipedia abou raymond franz.. *theinformationon this page was removed by responsible members of the legal coorporation of jehovah's witnesses,watchtower bible and tract society of new york,inc for the sole purpose that this page spread false information about a former member of jehovah's witnesses.the authors of the page are liable and did not remain neutral with regards to the information presented.we request you write a written apology to us..

  This is hilarious. Although poor grammar and spelling do not mean that it was not an official acting on behalf of the branch, it certainly reads as somewhat juvenille.

  Basically they are saying "we were just testing you", and we don't like neutrality.

  It reminds me of Futurama when Zap Branigan confrots the neutral planet.

  "Something doesn't sit right with me and these neutrals. At least with an enemy you know where you stand"

  To a commander:

  " So when did you first develope a rotten heart full of neutrality!?"

  I have to agree with everyone here. i have asked lots of people what they "think" about it. Mostly I get (even from the elders) a kind of stare like it doesn't really matters and who cares anyways. More than a few have said, isn't that what we always taught?

  What is the most out of line / disturbing experience you have seen from Circuit Overseers?

  i once heard of a circuit overseer blaming a loyal ministerial servant, that served as the accounts servant, of steeling from the contribution boxes, simply because he deposited the congregation funds bi-weekly instead of twice a week.

  due to the accusation, the ms was immediately removed without hearing his side of the story.

  isn't this rather counter-intuitive and innefficient?

  Somebody mentioned Angelo Manera. That guy was a piece of work. He pretty much only referred to the organization as "mother" and wanted you to do the same. He actually taught my buddies pioneer school. The thought that that guy with his attitude towards others is teaching the new crop of CO's is reason enough to worry.

  In California they send the old guys out here to die or retire. So on the one hand, we get guys that are kind of disengaged, tired, and don't like to make waves. On the other hand, heavy handed elders can run amuck.

  my sister in law has been shunned by the family since she da'd herself at the age of 18 and moved out of the house.

  i always insisted that my wife keep in contact with her and made sure she knew she had a soft place to land,with us, should she need it.

  even at the risk of it getting us in hot water with the pioneer,elder,bethelite family members there was no way we were going to let her disappear into the wild blue yonder on her own.

  So where is all this supposed worldwide persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses?

  for years, it was drummed into our heads that the whole world lies in the hands of the wicked one who hates us and a result, mankind particularly hates the jws with a passion.. now that i think about it, i've seen very little evidence of that.

  i mean yes, in places like malawi, germany and some other countries the witnesses have been through real persecution - not the type that the average dub would call it like doors being slammed in the face.

  but what have they experienced that many other religions in other countries haven't?

  JW's are in fact persecuted. They are just not persecuted more than others. Much of the persecution from their fellow protestant or cathic based religions, happened earlier in the 20th century, and in many catholic countries can still happen on a small scale.

  JW's have been beheaded in the Phillipines. JW's are not given equal treatment in some eastern block countries.

  I know what youare saying......that it is a drum beat that doesn't sync to anything. I agree. But there is persecution. It just isn't only for JW's. in other words, this supposed proof of God's favor (attack from Satan or what have you) applies to many many other religions.
