No Refusal Blood Checkpoints!

in oregon, during the 4th of july weekend, troopers will be conducting checkpoints to see if someone has been drinking.

if someone refuses a breath test, they will be forced to have their blood extracted from them.. what do you think of this?.

Im split on this. Its invasive and terrible.....but if it keeps some dude from plowing into my family because he was a big man that night......then I don't care.

Drunk drivers still kill quite a few people.

Hey Terry,

I certainly think there is a connection, but i'm just not sure HOW connected exactly. Blood....life....sacredness.....are all themese that comingle from the beginning.

The NT however is a collection of letters and instruction for something replacing the Jewish system. In the context of the situation, Jews were in a way being put in there place. STOP adding things (ie circumcision).

So while I can see tradition in Rabbinic circles may interpret things different as time goes on, that would not neccesarily sway the casual JW who is questioning the doctrine would it?

In fact, would Pauls comments in the meat market regarding things sacrificed to idols, and the merit of conscience to the Christian, not be more of a dagger to the believer?

JW parents are CRAZY

hello again, for those who don't know me i'm a 15 year old boy.

and recently my mom is displaying symptoms of demensia, she left the stove on today and she yells at us for watching commercials on t.v that are "demonic" because today there was a commercial on television for the new 300 movie and she started yelling at my sister to turn it off, and then i was listening to coldplay as a playlist while doing my school work and she started yelling at me to turn the demonic music off.

she says "demonic" this "demonic" that.

Hey Demokan.....I'm sorry i missed this the first go around.

Wow....15. Im only in my 30's which probably seems like a long time away, but blink and you are there. I remember 15. I have a little boy who is 2, and I wonder what he will have to go through at 15.

I probably have some crazy stories for you when I was 15. I used to talk about my crazy stories when I was younger. It made me feel unique and special when I didn't really feel that way about myself.

The main thing I want you to think about is this. Whatever you are going through or doing, or seeing happen around you RIGHT NOW....is not your life. Its just amoment. If your parents are nuts, they are nuts. Maybe its JW's maybe they are just odd and out of sorts.

If they get abusive, leave the situation. DOn't go crazy when cops come. Keep contro of your emotions. Meds are not a lasting answer but are ok for you to feel like you are on an even keel.

15 IS NOT LIFE. ITS JUST THE BEGINNING.

If I could go back to 15, I woudl be the badest mutha on the planet by now. I am not kidding. The reason older people say youth is wasted on the young, is because EVERYONE says if they knew then what they know now, they could have saved themselves YEARS or heartache, THOUSANDS of dollars, and BUCKETS of tears.

If I was 15 i would focus on education. You need to do somthing for work, bills, a job, a wife, etc...

Learn everything you can, and come up with your own ideas.

If i was 15 i would learn and become obsessed with an instrument.

If I was 15 i would start a list of the places in the world I wanted to see and figure out how soon I could go see them.

Your life is just starting. Get a grip. Try to relax. Let your crazy family get away with some things. Don't disparage the religion you were raised in, its only part of the problem, and make a plan to be the best person you possibly can. You will amaze yourself.

You are in control.

I think most believers would contend that the description of father and son, is simply a way to condecend to human understanding (physical), because they cannot grasp what they do not know or are able to experience (spiritual).

Not that i agree with that, but that would be the easiest way to explain it. If God "made" Jesus, then he is kinda his son....no mom needed. We get what it means, even if we don't understand how it happened (if you are inclined to believe it did).

However, Terrys point is well taken. If Jesus the son of God or God in the flesh both 100% human and 100% God, was an infant, a toddler, a wide eyed little boy, a preteen, and angsty teenager going through puberty, on to adulthood when he "discovers" he was actually in heaven before the last 30 years......that begs some explanation. It just does. Why could he not have appeared human, without the awkward indignities of being human, as Adam did?

This is a good question. The seeming answer is that this is a nother story in a long line of virgin God birth stories.

In addition, the presence of male genetalia, including balls.....on Adam who was apparently originally created to be the only guy around, begs further question. Unless God planned on creating eve the whole time, at which point you may wonder why not create them in tandem? Why wait until the man was lonely?

This is the tip of the iceberg, but its why I am leaning more and more to agnostic beliefs.

as we all know jws were persecuted in malawi, beaten tortured and murdered, because they would not purchase (for about 70 cents) a card saying they support the political rule at that time.

if they did they wd be df .. what must a us citizen do in order to get a passport - and how in god's name do the wt leaders get one without a compromise nobody else wd be allowed to make?.

is this another case like the change on vaccinations in 53,because nathan homo knorrr knew he cd die of tropical diseases touring the third world.

To the JW it is all about "membership". That is the key word. Filling this out made you a member of a political party.

But.....since we are looking at this through the culture of anothr coutry foreign to most of us, it is important to note there was only ONE party card.

So while the language would be alarming to JW's, it didn't mean you were "forced" to vote, or take office.

It is an benign as standing during the pledge of alligence, getting a passport, swearing to tell the truth in court, or acknowedging you are amember of a country.

we are not living today among aryan nations where such members of our fleshly family relationship could be exterminated for marrying a black, as was possible and was ordered in the early days of apartheid.. being limited by the laws of the new south african nation in which we live, we can take action against those who marry blacks only to a certain extent, that is, consistent with current laws.

the law of the land forbids us to kill them, even though they be members of our own flesh-and-blood family relationship.

Well done. I realize this is only semi related, but I had an annointed woman tell me it was wrong to marry my then black girlfriend.

I was a true believer, and this woman was not treated as a crazy one, but as a legit one. So I was a bit shocked (early 20's). I appealed to the basics. Things like, equality, Jehovah loving everyone equally, no colors in heaven yadda yadda.

She was very beligerant, and told me I had to "read between the lines" in the magazines, and develope a spiritual view of the ministry. After all our kids would be "mixed", and our presence in the ministry would be a distraction and cause some not to listen.

I wish that would have helped me wake up back then. It was disturbing, but I kept on going.

" okay it goes on and on about how we need to keep our body "clean" and.

Smoking is bad. Its bad for you. Its bad for others. Its just bad.

But I'll bet "vaporizing" isn't going to be looked at any better. How about nicotine suppliments (popular with body builders now), if taken orally?

This is backward not because someone should be free to smoke (which they should be, around nobody else), but because they are enforcing a RELIGIOUS EDICT to not smoke. That is VERY different.

I met a young woman (mid twenties), who was DF'd for being caught smoking with a drink in a bar. Her brother, who was never baptized, lives with a girlfriend and all that jazz. This persons mother speaks to the son and hangs out no problem, but the girl disfellowshipped for smoking.....shunned.

Its insanity.

Alcohol is at least metabolized and has health benefits, so I don't know if that is analgous. How about trans fat, high fructose corn syrup? That 300 pound group of people in the hall have more to answer for scripturally (gluttony), than a smoker does if we get down to brass tacks.
