i have to go to alt sign on name....but this is important(to me anyway):.
what do you want to see as the future of mankind in your lifetime?.
tolerance?
I consider myself a Pagan Universalist - and right or wrong I have great faith in humanity. I believe the human race is in its adolescence and as such we are struggling with the same issues teenagers struggle with. We have the intelligence to know right from wrong, but we see ourselves as invincible and want to party for a little while longer before we settle down and act responsibly. If we're lucky we will survive this period in our development and grow to adulthood. Our creator has done the best job possible with us, providing us with all the tools we need to survive and thrive, but even the most well cared for and well-raised children go through confusing times and are in danger of making mistakes that will screw up their lives. Their parents can't and or shouldn't protect them from the consequences of all of their mistakes.
I have faith that we will get through our adolscence and become what we were created to become - of course not in my life time, but I do see things getting better over time, slowly and not without set backs but ultimately I think the human race will fulfill its potential.

after reading blueblades post above i got to thinking.
who created satan?
this may have been discussed before.
Interesting answers. I figured most would say God created Satan, which would make God responsible for all the problems of the world - and as Expatbrit stated, He would have seen that coming, so it had to have been His plan all along to have all the suffering caused by Satan. How do the faithful reconcile that they are worshipping the being that created the evil they fear so much?
drawcad_1 - so the Babylonians are responsible! Now I understand all the references to Babylon the Great.

After reading Blueblades post above I got to thinking. Who created Satan? This may have been discussed before. Did God create Satan - or did Satan already exist along with God? Is there an official answer from JWs or other Christian groups?

have you ever had a good friend that you shared so much with, and with time things changed and you've become enemies?
should good friends let certain misunderstandings destroy a friendship?.
why is it that too often friendship turns to hatred?.
I had a best friend in high school who betrayed me. I hated her for years and now looking back, the hatred is turning to pity. She was the type of person who could only have one friend at a time. You were either her lackey or her enemy. She dumped her best friend to be my friend and dumped me to be somone else's best friend. As long as she had someone to follow her around and agree with everything she said she was happy. Turns out her family was severely dysfunctional, they kicked her out of the house for missing curfew and eventually disowned her for marrying outside her race. I feel sorry for her now, but knowing the kind of person she is, I would never, in a million years trust her or let her back into my life.

on top of everything else today, my dishwasher broke down.
it won't pump out the water.
i can't get a repair until wednesday!!!!!!!!!!!
My sewer line is being snaked as I write this. I thought my washing machine was broken because the spin cycle water was backing up into the wash basin in the basement - then the toilet started backing up into the sink. The plumber loves us - last time he was here was Christmas Eve.

she understands a few words, really.. after repeating the words and the actions at the same time, they get to understand certain words.. does your pet understand a couple of words?
Dalmatians aren't known for their intelligence, but my dog knows the standards:
Sit, gimme your paw, gimme your OTHER paw, lay down - he follows hand signals for these also
if I want him to come in the house or follow me somewhere I just say, Cookie?
I can ask him, Where's Daddy? Or Who's coming? and he's up at the door waiting, and when he's stretched out on the floor and I say, "Who's a good boy?" he wags his tail. If we put treats in his bowl he will wait until someone says, "Get it!" before he eats.

many christians i've met like to pick and choose what parts of the bible they want to live by and ignore others.
for example, i have a friend that goes to church every sunday, reads the bible to her daughter, and prays daily.
at the same time, she lives with a man that she never plans on marrying.

I think this is the only way the Bible works. The most devout Christians I've met are the same way. They have the quotes they can use to justify their beliefs but they're strangely ignorant of the more unpleasant aspects of the Bible and they can conveniently forget or explain away the scriptures that contradict their own lifestyle. A friend of mine used to be very quick to condemn homosexuals because the Bible said so. She didn't have much to say when I pointed out that the Bible also condemned divorce and she was on her third husband. She also felt that there was a problem with Paganism because you got to form your own beliefs, take what made sense to you and use it and leave out the things you didn't agree with. "How can you justify taking some parts and not others?" she asked me. I had a field day with that one.
She's studying Wicca now, btw.

the recent episodes remind me of jws
Hey topanga,
I LOVE Angel! And yes, I got that impression from the episode last night, "Shiney Happy People." Even the title was a bit weird. Everyone was walking around blissfully doing the bidding of the goddess/demon Jasmine and at one point when Fred says something like, "How come no one is questioning anything anymore?" Angel replies, "Isn't it wonderful?" Meaning, just doing what you're told and no longer having to think for yourself. Fred sees through the beautiful facade of Jasmine and tells Wesely who imemdiately rats her out and next thing she's branded as 'evil' for speaking against the new world order. I was waiting for the characters to start passing out fliers door to door.
