because i listened to the dumb elders who suggested i stay away from college, now i'm broke and unhappy.
i need money and direction.. can anyone suggest a few short courses i can take so as to find a job easy and quick?

i had made myself a niche during my years in the truth, (and having a family to support) in food service design.
due to changes in the industry, i found about 4 years ago, that work opportunities were declining.
i took a course to learn autocad (computer aided drafting), in oz, short part time course are available at night.
that revitalised my work prospects, and i have not had work worries since.
my general impression, is that as computing becomes a 'mature' industry, the money and career prospects will lie, in understanding computers (as an IT course will train you) and in being able to apply computing power to a prolblm or need , that is thru a software program etc.
only my view - but hope it helps and good luck!!!!

since not many people have these sort of visions (experiences) may i politely enquire aas to the reason that you believe you have them and other 'spiritual' people do not?
i have had friends who are quite irreligious who have told me similar things...

now that i have your attention....really, this is about sex.. this week's issue of newsweek contains an interesting commentary by anna quinlan, found on the last page, that deals with the catholic church's priestly sex scandal and how, for so many years, repressive teachings by the church in matters realting to human sexuality have been very counter-productive and have missed the mark badly while the church at the same time tried to cover-up cases of pedophilia among priests.
examples given include teachings like no divorce (while people suffer in bad marriages), no birth control (thus teaching that sex is not be engaged in simply for pleasure but with the purpose of procreation), and so on.
and yet in the meantime, they obviously missed the boat on the whole problem of sex abuse within their own priesthood.. while jw teachings are not as repressive, at times i have noticed a seeming obsession, if one might call it that, among some jws in matters of a sexual nature.
the catholic church position is based on the teachings of st augustine.
and as far as i can see the GB are adopting the same position..
eg. oral sex!!!
we recently had the visit of the co, during the elders meeting he addressed his concern over the decline in meeting attendance, especially for the tms & sm.
our particular congregation saw a decline of 30% from his last visit 6 months ago.
in a private conversation with him i asked if our congregation was unique in this regard and he said no, some congregations have seen a much higher percentage of decline, 50-60%.
it's a damn big strain on everyone to get to the 3 groups of meetings. particularly when in some cases you finish up with 2 nights out in row. it's particularly exhausting for kids.
maybe the pressure for change (if there is pressure) is coming from underneath.bubbling up from exhausted people who really are pissed off with so much of their lives being occupied by something that is essentially useless.
for the most part, i doan think many people learned much anyway!!!
but then christians have always been fanatical about making their lives uncomfortable to prove that they are devoted to the lord!!!!!!!!
there is constant talk about sex here, false prophecy, preaching work etc.. but noone talks much about the demons.
i know i was frightened of them.my entire youth, every night, was spent engaging in paranoid little rituals to protect me from the demons.. watchtowers under the pillow, lights on, bible open by the bed.. and me wide awake listening to every tree branch creak, every board crack as the house setlled for the night.. i still have problems (occassionaly) even now.. who was terrified of the demons??

in certain atmospherice conditions, the phenonema you descibe do occur naturally!!!

well, at least that's what was put to me when i was young, and pointed out to then older brothers the fact that in a film (the first one released in the '50's (i think it was called Jws - the new world society, or something similar), that showed a yankee stadium assembly, lots of the tents used for assembly facilities had american flags flying over them.
