  if there god is supposed to be the all-powerful, backing their organisation fully, men being led by god's spirit etc, then what of the lack of activity within china which has in excess of a billion inhabitants?

  is their god not partial to the chinese?

  what of india also?

  part 8. the undiscovered country.. i call this part the undiscovered country because #1... im a sci-fi (and star trek) fan, and #2... thats exactly how i saw it when i delved into the truth of the truth.

  it started around the end of 2000. what really started it was a death of a close friend.

  it was a moment ill never forget in my life.

  Anointed Experience #2 - Contacting the FDS

  marge was the mother of the jw man who brought me into the jws.

  she had been a jw since the early 1950s, and attended the famous 1958 international convention at yankee stadium/polo grounds in new york.

  marge was a very lovely person, hospitable, kind, generous, non-judgmental, and always a faithful jw.

  i do not think this GB thing is unique ---

  something similar exists in all (and all would be) totalitarian organisations.

  all these groups from the catholic church and other religous bodies, to various communist parties of the world and even in some business organisations, are run by a bunch of self-perpetuating, old men, who because of their (unfortunate, to them) mortality, become self-replicating through the appointment of those who aspire to that position.

  the replacements go through the hard process of learning how to survive the changes of policy and thought that occurr within these groups, of how to attract attention without appearing to be what my boifriends culture call "arse-fanners" -- for that is sudden death to advancement ambitions. it brings a certain contempt from those on higher rungs, tho they are quite happy to use the arse fanners and advance them in limited ways.

  so never knock those who reach these exalted heights. they are very special humans.

  it's just sad that in the process -- they find that they have lost their humanity and become.....".........", and any use they may have been to the rest of us, will have ben lost for ever

  before you jump the gun and start offering a friendly hand maybe you should take the advice given and do some reading & research here first.

  you are going to be very surprised with what you find from these so-called loving x-witnesses.. let me give you a couple of examples.. go look up the topic: bryant memorial report.

  read how sadden everyone was to learn of this man who couldnt deal with lifes problems and decided to become judge and jury for his whole family and took them out with a shot gun blast to head as they slept in their beds.

  now mostly i do not feel superior to anyone, but after reading gettingout's post, i feel slightly superior!!

  but, he does sort of demonstrate that jws have more in common with islamic taliban, than they do with western civilisation.

  A guided tour of Heaven

  very trendy and under discussion at the moment.... the raelians.. they are much discussed in the media pertaining to cloning.. anyway, their founder "rael" wrote a book called "the extra terrestrials took me to their planet".. this appears to be planet "heaven", and while there rael is given a guided tour, by, among others...yahweh!.

  on page 200, yahweh shows, and explains to rael his collection of "slave robots":.

  the servants whom you saw carrying the dishes...as well as the dancers, are only biological robots...they are limited and are absolutely submissive to us.

  hong's journey to sonship!!!!!

  christianity does not spring fully grown from the earth, even tho jesus claimed the very stones would cry out, if his followers failed to pass on his message.. so it is with hong's journey to realisation that he was a son of god.

  so it is with hong's journey to realisation that he was a son of god. there had to be a link with europeanised christianity.

  and there was. the great religious awakening that swept up the millerites in the easter united states, also affected other denominations. men consecrated their lives to christ and wandered off to strange places to shine the light of christ on the heathen.

  such a man was edwin stevens. while attending yale university, he made christ his life's passion. he went onto study in the new haven theological seminary, was ordained and then, in 1832, accepted a posting to canton as chaplain to the american seaman's friend society.

  living in the american compound in canton stevens followed a rigorous schedule of study, preaching and tract distribution. nominally, his mission was to american seaman. but, like all christians, stevens was fired with the thought of converting heathens.

  to understand how this may be possible, stevens associated with liang a fa, a local chinese convert. liang had been baptised in 1816 by a scottish protestant missionary, william milne, and became an expert in writing, printing and distributing tracts. by 1832 liang often would hand out as many as 7000 tracts during a 250 mile mission trip within china.

  stevens became an associate of liang, and shared with him in many missionary trips. it should be noted, that this was strictly against the law. imperial edicts forbad the preaching of 'foreign doctrines'.

  liang had also developed the practise of distributing tracts around the examination halls for students hoping to enter the administrative ranks of the chinese government.

  these examinations, although heavily formalised, allowed even poor families to advance, if a son could pass the examination and enter government service, the lives of poor people could be transformed.

  hong, the future heavenly king, was such a poor student from a typical poor family. late winter of 1836, he competed in and passed the first round of the qualifying exams. now, in early spring he must compete with the brightest students in the whole canton prefecture. the ambitions of an large extended family and village (where he was the local schoolteacher, ride on his study skills.

  hopes die when hong fails !!!

  but outside the examination halls, hong received a religious tract (possibly from stevens), and learned for the first time of a god called ye-huo-hua, who could become angry and destroy people.

  but failure in the examinations was centremost in hongs mind!!!!

  failure would influence the rest of his life, in a way that he could never have imagined.

  here is one such event that i have relayed before in shorter comments:.

  sigh!!! it's so like the communist party in the former soviet union and china isn't it....

  a slight comment brings interrogation & shunning... a rumour can bring expulsion and gaol... not to mention the possiblity of a firing squad..

  one of the most instructive books i have read in my post-christian life, is called "god's chinese son" by jonathon spence.. it's the story of hong xiuquan, who became the founder of the taiping christian religion in china - and forced to fight for his/it's existence, came close to overthrowing the qing (manchu) dynasty... it's an instructive story, because xiuquan after having studied the bible with missionaries, fell ill and in the time that he wavered between life and death, became convinced that he was the son of god.. here is my lesson --- how often, christian zeal, and conviction of a close (filial) relationship with god grows out of illness.. what do you think ????

  dear lotus,

  if i was still an elder, i would not counsel you against partaking, but talk warmly of the responsibilities...

  truly, i would see it as between you and god!!

  however, i am now NOT an elder, and will NEVER,NEVER ever be one again!!!

  so now, in the reality of this life, could i suggest to you (not counsel), that you go and take a panadol, have a nice cup of green tea and long lie down.....

  stp worriing about the those who roam the wilderness of cyberspace and see pixilated visions!!!!!

  it's between you and YOUR god -- that's all that matters!!!!!
