Moving on... advice needed
by bluesbreaker59 inso this week, i broke up with my "on again off again" girlfriend of 8 months.
i came to realize that even though i cared about her immensely, i didn't see us working out long term.
that thought hit me a couple weeks ago, so i didn't think i should waste anymore of her time or mine.

Yeah, cheating was a shit thing to do.
Just try and not "rebound" with the new girl. Take some time out. The new girl doesn't deserve that either.

There are two arguments from what I can see.
First, that the JWs don't put enough emphasis and faith in Jesus himself - rather everything is about Jehovah. They pray to Jehovah, they see their salvation in Jehovah (via Jesus...but Jesus appears secondary).
They think that Jehovah is "Almighty God" and Jesus is "Mighty God" - if both are "gods" then the JW's appear to believe in two "True Gods" - hence many Christians think that this is incorrect since there is only "one True God".
Jesus is seen as an Arch-Angel - and this lowering of him is a problem for most christians.
Secondly, most Christians see Jesus as Almighty God. JWs don't.....

A desperate time for JW as realisation inevitable dawns .....
by Gill inin time, slowly and inevitably, a lot of jws will realise that they have been conned.
they may deny it at first but eventually a substantial amount will discover that they have lost their lives, their talents and their potential to of all things, a book publishing company!.
so, what will their reactions be?

I pointed out that the GB have made the "144000" calling open again....meaning any person can now claim to be anoined. The result will be that Armageddon could be 50 years away.
Response from JW relatives: "So?" "We don't know the day or the hour anyway"

Oompa,
I can see your point. Being in the JW's is a struggle and so many do use alcohol to self-medicate.
If you think about actual *addicts* though - they usually start of using alcohol for that kind of reason, but then they discover they are addicted, even if their circumstances improve.
So that is how you can get an alcohol addict whose life seems great, who still abuses alcohol. It becomes difficult for them to cope with ordinary life without alcohol.

how is the WT a "literature selling scam"?
by inkling ini have heard several people refer to the society as publishing company in the business.
of selling books and magazines.. i just don't see how this view can be valid considering that i almost never see.
any "voluntary contributions" come in from the door-to-door work.

OK lets get this straight.
In the UK the dubs started to ask for "donations" on literature for TAX REASONS.
Where JWs used to pay a few pence for each rag, and similarly charge that out to the public, nowadays you have people "estimating" in their heads how much the mags cost and giving a "donation".
I'd be prepared to bet that they get more donations for the literature than they did before.
For instance, where you used to be able to buy a bible for £3, noone in their right minds would put that price on it now. So you'd have a householder giving £5 or more for a bible - if they are remotely decent people.
I once met a blind person on the ministry and asked for the cong to order a Braille book. I got interrogated about it and was told that the cost of the book was too high to just "give out" and that the person had to be 100% interested and 100% willing to give a donation. They don't want blind people being JWs - problems getting them to do your sales for you.
In the local hall, we were told to NEVER EVER tell a householder that the mag was FREE. We were carefully schooled to say "there is no charge, but we accept donations"......ALWAYS always mention a donation. If the householder decided to give what they estimated to be an OK amount, they'd be likely to give 50pence or £1 compared to 30 pence which was the old charge! Therefore MORE profit, NO TAX.

How many publishing companies can guarantee selling at LEAST 6 million copies of each book they produce?
On the web the WTS is listed as a Charity in the UK and gives a turnover of £14,000,000 for last year. They send some of this money back overseas, which they list as "expenses" but there was still around £3,000,000 clear profit (not spent on expenses).

think Halloween is the stupidest dumpiest most satanic celebration on any calendar regardless of your faith.
Lone ranger. The origins of Halloween have NOTHING to do with Satan. http://www.religioustolerance.org/hallowee.htm
The original festival, Samhain, is neither stupid nor satanic.
Some people seem to be fixated on "Satan" - my goodness what power is attributed to him by Christians.
