WTS governing body changes - how have all those claiming to be anointed been exposed as liars?
by tootired2care inin juan viejo2s recent thread about district overseer and other changes coming this bit was quite intriguing to me.. the governing body will be expanded to 12 to better match the biblical magic number of apostles, tribes of israel, etc.
that will also reset the 'magic number' to 8 needed to get a majority vote to make a doctrinal change.... one of my friends suggests that "annointed" will become synomous with "appointed.
" if a brother is "appointed" to the governing body, then the logic is that he has automatically been "annointed" by holy spirit and would therefore be considered to be part of the 144k.. .

Not sure I get the reasoning here...
I understand that if they expand the GB it means those who come on board must be anointed thus in esscence the GB are "appointing" but for this to have the impact of a major change it would mean that they would have to say only the GB are anointed and I can't see them do that.
The GB can add new members from a pool of currently known anointed partakers...but anointed at the moment are self-appointed (anointed)...that wouldn't change...

There are some questions I have had about the JWs view "post-Armaggeddon"
by booker-t ini have always wondered how jws believe about "post-armaggeddon" earth.
question#1 how will jws survivors bury all of the dead bodies.
with about 4 billion people on earth today how can 8 million jw(1/2 of them children and babies) bury all of those dead bodies?

I thought they point to the scripture that talks about the dead will be a feast for the birds thus every dead body after the Big A will be bird food...

I don't believe the JWs will ever change and say the 144,000 is "symbolic"
by booker-t init will never happen.
because that will definitely be the "final nail" in their coffin.
jws will not stand for it any longer.

The fact that parents will die rather than take blood or let their child die shows you what the power of the organisation has over people...
The JW's who are leaving are the ones that examine everything whilst those who stay in are the ones who let the society think for them...thus it seems the majority will accept any change the society make...
The GB know they have this power...in times gone by the GB tried to give evidence and proof for their changes but now they don't bother as they know the majority just accept "they are the Faithful and Discreet Slave Class" and just lap it up...the fact they said "evidently what Jesus meant was an overlapping generation"..."evidently"? Where is the evidence? They don'y need it...
So...I can see major changes to 144,000 and 1914 coming...and it will not make one difference to most of those who don't bother to check what they believe...

Will the GB be alive at armageddon(tm)?
by punkofnice inok. i don't believe that the watchtower(r) armageddon(tm) is anything but fantasy.. i do recall speculation about how the 'anointed(tm)' might all be dead before the big 'a' or that some will survive through it and help the r&f.
i heard brothers speculating that after the big 'a' the 'anointed(tm)' would be spirited away to heaven.. i wonder what they think will happen to the gb on, before or after the big 'a' now?.

Yup the stance is now:
Some of the anointed generation who overlapped the anointed generation who saw and understood 1914 will still be alive when the GT starts BUT THEN all will be heaven before The Big A...

by Splash infrom 1920 wt publication "talking with the dead":.

"these materializations occur by a power which the demons posess of being able to draw out of the mediums body connected streams of the cells of which her body is composed, and then changing the form of these living cells into any desired appearance.

Seeds of Doubt.
by donny inseeds of doubt.
what was it about the jw religion that first gave you serious doubts as to its truthiness?.
for me it occurred in late 1984 when we were studying the brochure the divine name that will endure forever which had been released at the summer convention that year.

The Generation change in the 1990's....98 was it? They changed a major prophecy right there and I knew then what it meant...the Big A was not coming...took me till 2012 to start fading though...

Atheists, here is a 'balls' question ---even for all---
by prologos init is very difficult to knock a ball into a hole (like golf), throw it into a receiver's hands (american football) intercept it and knock it over the fence (american cricket).
or to put a sattelite at the right time at the right speed in the right direction in the right place to have it orbit another body, so :.
what ingenious natural & process is it, than can get 9+ zillions bodies to get into the right orbit simultaniously or sequentially and have them remain there for billions of years?
-

Why do people thing that all the orbits of every planet is "set" by someone or something?
There has been plenty of proof of collisions of planets and even galaxies...the ones that didn't collide are the ones now orbiting...

Suggestion for title of final Final Talk from GB
by sparrowdown inok, so it's right before the big a.. gb are just about to depart heavenward but not before leaving us something to remember them by.. so after several rounds of rock, paper, scissors one of them goes up to the podium, adjusts his tie, clears his throat and says....... .
"so long, and thanks for all the fish".
now anyone familiar with hitch hikers guide to the galaxy would know that was.

"Deep down inside even they know it is BS." Discuss
by rory-ks innope, bungi bill's interesting statement from this post didn't take, so i'll start its own.. from my own experience, i hated the field ministry.
it might just be because of the kind of character i am, whatever, i never was able to overcome that feeling of dread every time i went door-to-door.
i felt aware of how much people disliked having strangers cold-calling trying to sell them something.

I agree in that 70% of dubs think it is not true or have doubts as they are in for the social aspect...
The proof in that is in each cong you have a hardcore select who lap up every meeting and are out on field circus every week...they are about 30%...the other 70% attend every so often, go out on the ministry just for the coffee and chitchat...it is obvious to me when I was in.
IF they all did believe it they would all be pioneers...
But I will tell you that the GB and the higher echolons in Bethel believe it al 100%...as Don Cameron says in his excellent book...they are "Captives to a Concept"....that concept is that God has chosen them to be His channel of communication...no matter what!
