The Society's official explanation is Holy Spirit caused the egg to be fertlised and that overcame any imperfection contributed from Mary's egg...Holy Spirit continued to protect the unborn child...

How Could Jesus Be A Perfect Human When...?
by OneStepOut93 inhow could jesus have been a perfect human on earth if he was born from mary?
doesn't thewatchtower believe since we are all sons and daughters of adam and eve, that we are all genetically imperfect?
so if mary also came from adam and eve like the rest of us but gave birth to jesus then wouldn't jesus have been born imperfectlike the rest of us?.

Assembly Talks... Are these assigned based on the thickness of the envelope?
by Calebs Airplane infrom talking to several fading jws over the years, it really does appear that assembly talk assignments are usually given to those pos who consistently hand over the thickest envelopes to the co at the end of his week-long visits.
if the envelope was too thin (or there was no enevelope at all), chances are that no one in that congo would get an assemby talk assighnment.
also, if the co and his wife were treated well or taken to expensive restaurants during their visit, that apparently increased the po's chances of getting an assembly talk assignment.

Each year 3 elders from the body grade all other elders in their cong and send it to the CO as a recommendation as to who could deliver a great talk at the DC...I have done this for the last few years for my cong.
The CO then adds his recommendation and the bethel then assign the talks.
Nothing to do with money or how they treat the CO...I have had talks at DC and got one even though I barely spoke to the CO in his first year....

Jehovah's Witnesses and the term "Governing Body"
by I_love_Jeff inthe term "governing body" is not in the bible.
they tend to squirm out of such reasoning with something like this, "the word 'bible' is not in the holy scriptures but you still say it, right?
" "the holy scriptures" (2 tim.

One person answered up at a meeting and sumgly said that "Trinity is not even mentioned in the bible so it is a false teaching"...
I caused a bit of stir when I answered up next to say the word "Theocracy" does not appear in the bible either but doesn't mean it is false...to people who believe in the Trinity the idea is in the bible...just like dubs say the idea of Theocracy is in the bible...

Overcoming objections
by Kool Jo inhow do you overcome the following objections if you were to reason with a jw?.
1. jehovah uses imperfect people to accomplish his will.
in bible times, he used imperfect servants to accomplish great things.. 2. we must wait on jehovah for clarification on matters.. .

Jehovah used imperfect people to do His will yes that is true but did imperfect people DECIDE what His will was and change it back & forth?
I understand that men on the GB are imperfect so may think a wrong or thought or act unchristian by accident but whilst the men are imperfect IF the organisation is indeed Spirit Directed and these men are under the Holy Spirit then NOTHING they would produce as an organisation would ever be wrong.
The simple fact is every JW has to rationalize that either the Holy Spirit has got it wrong in the past (er no!) OR that the GB have produced teachings NOT from God...it is one or the other...being imperfect does not exempt them from the fact they have uttered wrong teachings whilst claming to be spirit directed...you can't have both!
If you read Don Cameron's book Captives to a Concept you will see how easily the idea that the WT/GB are God's Organisation on earth falls down...

I'll answer your first question...
Yes you need to be a baptised witness to be saved today...the people that the WT refer to, the ones who lived prior to the WT were, in effect, God's people and thus will be saved, if these ones were alive today then the WT would say they would be a JW...so the answer is not yes or no...yes you need to be a baptised JW to survive if you believe WT teachings today but people 500 years ago were not JW's but were God's people, just like JW's think they are and thus these ones get saved...

The answer is simple and is presented in a book you can buy or download called Captives to a Concept by Don Cameron.
That concept, is that they believe they are God's earthly organisation therefore they justify their mistakes and truly believe they are doing what is right.
Therefore, no matter what logic anyone presents to these ones (or any "mentally in" dub) that proves the GB/FDS are NOT God's organisation (Don's book proves this using the Watchtowers own sayings!) it will not be understood...

Yesterday was my last meeting
by nolongerconfused inyesterday's watchtower study was the last straw for me...as you all have probably seen the post before me, here's the quote that did it for me.
11/15/2012 wt "forgive one another freely".
paragraph 16 - "in accord with jehovahs's will, christian elders have been entrusted with the responsibility of wrongdoing in the congregation.

Christian questions to ask current JWs
by Christ Alone inhere are some questions that i thought would be interesting to ask a jw if they were open to a free and open discussion.
this assumes a christian worldview that the bible is the word of god.
if you have any others, please post them!

I'll also add point 7 with Gen 19:24 and Amos 4:10, 11...
1 Kings 8:1 - "Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion."
Why not say that Solomon assembled all of them in Jerusalem? Why say that Solomon assembled them unto Solomon? This has to do with the difference in language and culture. There are many instances in the Bible where one would scratch his head and say "Why didn't they just say it like this?". -

Point 5 is cracking and I have never considered that before, an excellent question to ask the dubs.
I can answer 12 and 13.
12. Inanimate things can be given a "personality" too...Jesus said the "stones would cry out" but of course we understand what he meant and that the stones were not persons, it just makes things easier to understand...supposedly!
13. I love this wacky explanation by the WTS. Whilst referring to the hands the WTS actually says the writer of the bible was a bit sloppy in their writing and referred to hands AND feet thus nails is more appropriate.
Point 17 is very interesting too...Jesus rebuked Satan whilst on earth but as Michael, a more powerful creature, he could not ergo is he Michael? Interesting...

New Light 144,000 Congregations
by Bob_NC inhas anyone heard quiet rumblings of new light on the meaning of the 144,000?
to look for 144,000 congregations of jehovah's people as there are now almost 112,000 congregations?
has anyone heard this?.

Then why don't they just split the congregations in the world that are over 100 dubs and form two congregations of 50 till you have 144,000 then the end will come!!!!
Sorry, I can't see any of this be true, even the GB/FDS are not that stupid...are they?
