Just whatched an amazing programe on mind control last night.
This morning I looked up the programes web sit which explains how it works and gives you tests to carry out.

It seams to fit exactly the way the org. of JW's works and avoiding mindcontrol fits how those who have left the org.have tried to act.

Is the society corrupt or mistaken?
by sleepy inso what do you all think , is the organistaion of jehovahs witnesses flawed due to corruption or just mistaken belief systems?.
i was thinking it could be a bit of both .. perhaps some people know what they are doing and others cant see the errors of there ways .. i though that maybee the governing body , do's , co's and elders are usally just following what they belive to be true.. but who is the society that is behind it all , who is it really run by .. each year when the members of the society hold their annual who attends and why.
is this metting all about finances or are other things discussed?.

not sure what you ment , but I think personaly it's a very important issue.
For starters its helps us to identify were we personaly went wrong.
Were we missled or was our way of reasoning wrong?
For a long time I dissagreed with certain ideas , but thought perhaps the society wasn't aware of the evidence for conflicting viewpoints and when presented to them they would maybee change.
I now feel this is not the case and they are pretty much aware of evidence against there ideas.
I just wish I could understand why they think and act the way they do. -

by Free2Bme injust wondered if anyone had any idea how much it costs to produce any of the jw videos?.

I was reading an article resently about how much profit is made on the things we buy.
Basicaly it said the materials cost of say an electronic item is around 10% of what we pay .
The shop that sells make after tax around 30% the rest going to the manufacturer and delivery etc.
In Britian the price will cover returns and garentees.
I dont know about videos but with magazines you must remmember that comercial companys make money out of advertising as well as sales.
Even so the society must make a profit on the sale of literature at least in western lands.
As to the feeding and accomadation of bethelites etc I think there are seperate donations made to cover these costs.
I tend to go by the 10% rule so if they suggest an offer price of $10 for the video it probably cost $1 dollar to make. -

If the society is making vast amounts of money were is it going who benifits?
Or perhaps the corruption was all in the past with people like Rutherford and those still alive today who run the organisation were taken in by him and refuse to admit they were wrong. -

Do bethelites get social security?
by sleepy ini was just wondering you know whether in bethel workers get credited with whats called in britian national insurance.. in britian you carnt miss six years of payment and expect a full goverment pension which isn't much anyway.also you cant claim full income support , sickness benifit or job seekers allowence if you have missed or underpaid you ni.. this came to mind as my wife worked for a company that didn't pay contributions for her .. when latter on she lost her job the goverment wouldn't pay her any job seekers allowance as no ni contributions were credited for that year.. so does bethel pay ni contributions for bethelites and circuit overseers and the like.

by sleepy inhi i've just come home from cleaning windows.what an absolutely soul destroying job.. when i think of the things i could have done.. i remmember how my teachers in school used to tell me i would surely go to university and get a good job.i remmember the shock on one teachers face a few years after i left school when i told her i was a window cleaner.. i was also intrested in art and quite good at it.my grandfather who wasn't a witness offered to help me and my brother get good jobs in the art world.. we turned him down.. arrmegeddon was so soon.. anyone else like me ?.

Er, like i think some of you missed the point of my post .
I know what to do NOW I've got plans for college and all that.
I was talking about the years we lost , years which can to some degree be made up but we'll never have them back.
I suppose I just wanted to know about people in the same postion as me .

Why arn't these things in the bible?

2 Logic. why didn't he teach about how to come to logical and sound conclusions when confronted by an argument?
He could have taught how to do experements or how to test our theories.
Then humans wouldn't have had to stumble through history with incorrect logical systems and the resulting confusion when looking at this world.
3 Truth. Why not just say i am a trinity or not or this is the true religion these are its tenets instead of leaving it to get confused through time.If a prophecy has a double meaning or fulfillment why not just say it?I cant see how anay of these things would give mankind an unfair advantage in the battle of love of Jehovah over Satan.
Whats the point of laws about love for humans etc when some practical points could have saved a lot of suffering through human history.
Think of the oppertunites Jesus would have had on earth to point things out to his diciples. When on the mount of olives he could have said "see that olive falling off that tree , thats gravity"
or when on a fishing boat at night " look at those stars they're millions of miles away and only a small part of our galaxy which is a tiny part of the universe and by the way the earth goes round the sun"
wouln't have taken five minuets to say it . -

Sorry did i sound angry,
I was just making the point that I do what I do today along with many others specificly because of the teachings of Jehovahs witnesses in relation to the last days pioneering etc.I am not bitter , just a bit disappointed that I haven't of yet fufilled my potential.
College is not an opion yet due to my responibillites.
I do have plans for the future though.
