Why do we care so much?
by sleepy inwhy do we keep coming here?.
why when many of us have left do we still feel drawn to discuss watchtower issues?.
in the scope of the hole world the organisation known as jehovahs witnesses means little for most people but for us it's still a majour part of our lives.. we might even spend more time now thinking and discussing it than we did as witnesses.. of course it still effects us we will never forget what has happened to us.. for many the sense of deception and disapointment is great, coupled with the frustration that many of our former friends and family just do not understand us and our choice to leave.. we would like to see and end to this rotten organisation and hope that we can play at least a small part in that.

Was it 91 or 92 that the watchtower joined?
I ask this because in a letter I have from the British Bethal they say 91.
I'll type the rest of the letter when i have time. -

Help me out here, I'm having an argument
by ballistic inwhat i'm debating is this.... and creationist probably wont be able to help.
reproduction is the driving forve of evolution, so why does evolution not simply favour the genes of those that reproduce the most...i.e.
not the most fit, intelligent, etc.. and if this is the case, why does the world not fill up with rampant nyphomaniacs?
-
sleepy
As far as I know survival of the fittest has nothing to do with being fit in the athletic sense but in fitting in.
So it is what ever fits in with the environment that survives.
Those that reproduce the most will be the creatures that are able more easilly to survive until reproductive age due to some advantage over other animals or through chance circumstances. -

Here is an excerpt from a letter from the society.
Jehovah has endowed us with free will. As such he has implanted in us the faculty of choice. He does not force us to act or think in a certain way, nor does he employ his sevants to do so ( 2 Cor 3:17)
The fact that he requires his worshippers to have "oneness in the faith and in the accurate knowledge of the son of God" does not mean that we can no longer think for ourselves.(Eph 4:3)It does though mean that we recognise the wonderful provision that he has made to reveal truth through "the faithful and discrete slave."
As the reasoning book explians on pg 205: "Jesus said he would have on earth a "faithful and discrete slave"( His anointed followers viewed as a group),through which agency he would provide spiritual food .....(Matt 24:45)Jehovahs witnesses recognise that arrangement. As was true of 1st Century Christians, they look to the governing body of that slave to resolve difficult questions...
The statement in question , that a mature Christian does not "...harbour his own ideas when it comes to bible understaning" is in harmony with this and reflects the way Jehovah has arranged matters. This was in responce to my finding contadictory the statmnets found in the Aug 1 2001 Watchtower that a mature Christian does not "...harbour his own ideas when it comes to bible understaning and the statement in the Watchtower July 1 2001 "Religious exhortations to the effect that you should just belive and doubt nothing are dangerous and deceptive."
Your thoughts on this please.

Does the light of truth really get brighter?
by sleepy inheres a way that i think shows that the witness idea that the "light is getter brighter " is flawed.. the reason often given for it being the case that jehovahs only reveals things graduly is that if he revealed things all at once it would be too much for a person to take.they would be "blinded" by the knowledge.. so on this reasoning then we must concluded that before 1995 people were not able to cope with the idea that "this generation" was not talking about poeple born in 1914, the light would have blinded them.. in that case why does this new light not blind people who come into the religon today?.
they have gone straight from the "darkness" into the most resently revealed light surely they must be blinded and would need first to learn all the past knowledge that is now considered wrong before they could cope with this new light.. this idea is so stupid.. children who are born today will learn straight away about the way the world works they will learn of gravity , spelling and maths in school.things that people living hundreds or thousands of years ago did not know.
since when has accurate knowledge "blinded" someone?.

If Jehovah only reveals truth (new light)through the Faithful and Discrete slave then how come other people have often though of the idea before them?
For instance if they only new in 1995 that they had "this generation" wrong how come people knew this before the "faithful slave".
Is this not evidence that Jehovah hadn't in fact used the "slave"?
In other words why does it take Jehovah to reveal to the governing body things that other people have worked out easilly before them? -

Heres a way that I think shows that the witness idea that the "light is getter brighter " is flawed.
The reason often given for it being the case that Jehovahs only reveals things graduly is that if he revealed things all at once it would be too much for a person to take. They would be "blinded" by the Knowledge.
So on this reasoning then we must concluded that before 1995 people were not able to cope with the idea that "this generation" was not talking about poeple born in 1914, the light would have blinded them.
In that case why does this new light not blind people who come into the religon today?

Where is the evidence that humans nead to go through a process of learning wrong things in order to eventualy be able to cope with the truth?
If the society is right I suggest that before we teach children about the world we live in we first teach that the world is flat , and that
the moon is made of cheese only then will they be able to cope with the new light of scientific truth today. -

Some things that annoy me about the WTS
by Leander ini'm still currently a jw myself and i'm serving as a minsterial servant in a limited capacity.
(a few weeks ago i was vocal about the doubts i've had and the elders made the decision to allow me to stay on as a ms but without giving talks) .
1. recently as in the last few years i've been paying more attention to the various members in the congregation and i've observed some interesting things.

Hi Leander
Haven't had time to read all the post. Many of us felt just like you.I carried on going and it was only when I could no longer go to the meeting without feeling like standing up and saying what a load of rubbish it all was that I realised i had to go. The Aug 1 watchtower gave me the push and I havent been to a meeting since that's aug 11.
Quess what I'm still a Ministerial servant.
Can you belive it?
