In addition to that, I remember about 2 months ago that I was fiddling with my calculator and twisting time prophesys to try and get a date that was in the near future (who hasn't done that before) and I somehow got the date 2004. Can't remember how I got it though.

Well... if you fiddle with 1914 + a generation at it's logical extreme (89) = 2003. Let's say 90 years just to be conservative = 2004. However, that is such a sticky wicket, just to be safe we will change the definition of "this generation"!!

However, the 1935 + 70 years thing is very interesting to me because I've never heard that before. The sealing of the 144,000 is interesting because there are serveral "younger" members serving on the GB now. This means that if you were born in 1935, the youngest you can be to be annointed is 66. I wonder how old the youngest GB member is?

You watch, 1935 will be relaxed soon too.

i n the 6/08/01 awake back cover invite to this summers d.c., it informs us that the drama will be .... guess what boys and girls... yes another delightful, upbuilding consideration of those wild and crazy guy's ..dathan, abiram and last but not leastkorah.. the article said the drama would be fgollowed by a talk on its application today.

Well at the rate that the anti-JW sites are popping up, the scandals, reorganizations to protect assests, etc. I would say that we will be seeing the "apostate" dramas ALOT more!

one of the most important techniques in manipulating people is to get control of their guilt.. all totalistic movements, religious or political use this method.

few organizations are better then the watchtower society in mastering this.

the religious cults have the advantage over the political that they can use the ultimate authority, namely god.. a typical example of such manipulation can be found in the january 15, 1997 issue of the watchtower.

Saying one thing...meaning the other

there is a great tendency among the supposed mature jws to look down on others.

my mother was/is one of those types and was a master of saying one thing while meaning the exact opposite.

the wise knew what she meant.. for instance, we had the co stay with us on one occasion which gave my mother plenty of time to pretend we were much better jws than we really were.

I think it has benefited me as an adult to be able to read into others comments.

Oh my GOD!! Yes, I have an uncanny ability to read into other comments and it is exactly from the whole double meaning, double think thing. I swear that the Witnesses taught me how to lie perfectly, lead a double life perfectly and completly cut people out of my life perfectly. Therapy, here I come!!

And my mother is STILL in denial about me ruining her "perfect" family. Tough to act superior to the others in the congregation when your son is an Ex.

does anyone take any responsibility for what happened in 1975?

maybe i should say what didn't happen in 1975!.

i mentioned 1975 to my still devout but not so fundamental jw mum.

I believe that you are mistaken there TheApostleAK, RAY Franz is the one that gave the GB the hammering for 1975. Because of that, he was kicked out even though he was one of the "annointed" and serving on the Governing Body. It also launched a witch hunt at Bethel (not seen since Rutherford sacked Russell's supporters) which gave us new light definition of "apostate".

While there isn't a whole lot of printed information "specifically" stating 1975, there wasn't much left up to the imagination.

1980 was the year that the GB finally had to say "something" about how everyone just seemed to "know" that it was then end and then nothing happened (again).

The GB DID however give quite a few talks by District Overseers and Circuit Overseers about 1975.

However, revisionist history once again.
